The model 1486A is from 1983 or after due to the lettering and evergreen color & the 4.8 amp motor. The '70s Eurekas had metal handles, 3.5 amps or E.S.P. 6.0 amp motors.
Whoa....that's sounds bad! Might need a new fan. But it could use some grease on the motor bearings. Also grease up the bearings on the beater bar. You can buy a replacement zipper in the sewing section at Wal-Mart. I just replaced one on an old Kenmore I have. It was simple & works better than the original!!
