I gotta say that this is AWESOME. I am from Massachusetts and have seen Godsmack 13x and this is great that they did this with the kids. Its great that they are giving back to the next generation.

As an educator for over 30 years, this speaks to me on many levels. One constant over all those years is music. You have made me aware and sensitive to the needs of “all” students, no matter their music preference. I will continue to embrace music of all kinds to the importance of our students past, present and future. I know how much it has helped me through the good and bad times and remember how important it is to all of my students. “WELL DONE YOUNG MAN!!!!!” May God bless you my friend!!!

Awesome! Sweeeet! Glad to see and hear about the music program importance. How important music is in our life and our children lives. Some of us with depression it’s a necessity. To take that out of the schools is wrong. I listen to all music so it’s calming, alive, an expression of self and others.

Awesome podcast, but my goodness that video for "Unforgettable" is absolutely amazing. I'm an amateur drummer, huge fan of Smack, and fan of Shannon's since Wrathchild America/Souls at Zero. I'm sitting at my firehouse and i got chills watching it. Good on those students! STAY WITH IT!!!!! GO GET IT!!!!!!

Loved this can't wait for Thursday and next Tuesday. The video Unforgettable made me cry, it is my new favorite #1. I have sang since I was 3 and played flute since 7 and piano since 12, and danced since I was 5, nothing professional, but as a former special ed teacher I have always made music important. Music helps me as a artist. This video, this made my heart sing.

Sully I was truly moved by your first show. I am so sick of Society stigmatizing rock and metal music for the last few decades. I am so proud of what you are doing! It starts with one , and baby your running with it! We need to all try to do what we can and together we all can foster generations to come. The kids on your show were awesome. I can’t wait to show this to my child he’s learning to play guitar and loves music as well. Thank You Sully can’t wait for your next show!

I remember you guys coming on stage and the entire village as you called us went absolutely nuts. I've been a loyal fan of Godsmack and your solo projects ever since. Those kids did an amazing job and hope they continue their musical journey.

Sully. Such a huge inspiration to me as a musician. I’ve been listening to you since I was 5 when my dad showed me. My mom was upset that “dad put on the red album” but I have never turned back. And used to watch the Scorpion king “Istand Alone” music video before school every day.
Love what you’re doing. Thankyou for everything

Its so amazing what your doing with the SCARS Foundation. I had a tough childhood, and it was music that saved my life. During my 7th to 12th Grades, I lived in a house of horrors. Being in the Band during those years, helped me to keep my sanity & not check out. Music was my solice from the pain. The people making decisions to cut music programs, have no idea how much they're hurting children. All the Love, Peace & Joy to you ☮️🕊️🕯️

I have been a Godsmack since day 1 and have seen the band live a few times now over the years, the guys have always put on an absolutely amazing show! Bought When Legends Rise on day one as well and after my first play through start to finish, UNFORGETTABLE was hands down my favorite track off the new record!! The song has so much positive energy in every way from groove, lyrics, vocals, etc!!! Even after 2 years now, still my favorite track from WHEN LEGENDS RISE!!!! 🤘😎

Toot Sully, you and the band deserve it. I have been mesmerized by you guys since 1998. At that time my son was 5 years old. So I'm proud to say Voodoo was his very first rock song that he learned all the words to from the backseat of my car....🤘 TURN IT UP MOMMA, THATS MY JAM. I did while listening in on him. He nailed it.
Godsmack has it. That thing that is very rare in most bands. We have been to 5 live Godsmack shows in Florida. Just missed you for Rockville in Daytona beach. Which would have been in 2 days. May 10, 2020. I sure hope after all this we will still be able to see the show at Daytona international speedway , this was a very big deal for central Florida rockers.

Living on the west coast & being elsewhere in my brain. I hadn't heard of Godsmack. Fast-forward to April 28, 2000...my dad died suddenly. Sure, I was 35, but my world collapsed. I was his little girl, he always called me "Baby Sister", something he never had in real life. We were close as close could be. I never got to say, "I love you. Please do not leave. I don't want to say good bye."
I made it through all the steps of grieving EXCEPT anger. I had never really been angry with him ever in life, how could I be angry at him when he was gone?
I discovered Godsmack when I moved back to my hometown area...it was actually playing "Voodoo" as part of sampler at the local Best Buy. I found it & took that sonofabitch home with me immediately!! I listened to it while I walked for miles upon miles. I was able to work out my anger & my hurt at loosing Daddy. Yes, Godsmack, Disturbed & few other amazing bands helped me heal. I could not ask for better caregivers to my devastated heart.
I do battle anxiety, depression & PTSD. I often wonder not only why I'm still alive, but how I was alive.
I know "When Legends Rise" is a tribute to Sully's beloved Patriots. It came to mean something far more to my husband & I...November 8th, my birthday, we lost EVERYTHING in the Camp Fire (Paradise CA area). We got out with basically the clothes we were sleeping in!!! We had 10 F-ING MINUTES to get out & only 1 way that was even open. Between "Legends..." & "Get Up" by Shinedown, I think I may find my way though PTSD is royally kicking my ass with all these current incessant fires here on the west coast. Often I hate to say it, "Why did I bother to escape? What's the purpose?" I don't know yet, but I still try to put on foot in front of the other each damn day!!!
Thank you, Sully! Thank you, guys of Godsmack! I promise try to not waste what you have saved.

Hey Sully! WOW! So excited you are doing this podcast... I've missed your first two live sessions so watching them today. Let me tell you I have watched your Unforgettable video so many times and shared it with so many of my friends and family - I'm still such a fan of Godsmack 20+ years later, along with your incredible deeply invested solo career. Bravo young man! My family just doesn't get it they ask "aren't you over this music rush?" ... WHAT!?! LOL! Those silly people, I wish they could experience the rush and excitement of hearing music and then new music - WOW! Rush amplified! Music is my drug of choice ... MUSIC SAVES LIVES! And now... you roll out this incredible production of Unforgettable, just WOW! I'm totally gushing over your involvement with the kids! Your video is incredible, how you and the band members got so involved with teaching and inspiring the kids. What an opportunity for these kids that they will cherish forever. Thank you for being YOU!

A world with out music would be very boring. And like you said, music really is how you described it. One of the greatest though in classical music, Ludwig Van Beethoven when he started loosing his hearing, would lay his head on a piano I believe just to hear and feel the vibrations. Literally banging on the keys, which to those who have good hearing, they say a lot of people could not work with Beethoven for a long time, because he would become out raged that he could hardly hear what people where doing. The performance of the 9th synthony, After the music was over some one had to turn him around because he no longer could hear his master piece. I do music as well as make My own hand crafted flutes but have made some drums too, but as a child I was bullied alot. Music was the only thing that kept Me going on even though I had some pretty fucked up things happen to Me long ago. When I heard Avalon, that was amazing and it resonated in perfect harmony with My soul.

. Music is an entity all its own that can shift how we feel inside within moments of hearing a tune from our past or make our feelings STOP when certain cords are played. Music is healing and I for one will continue to listen to all genres because the feelings can come from listening or playing any type is simply powerful. We find solace, peace, love, and power from music. It takes us away from our NOW for the length of each song and is a gift I wish I could still play my guitar it helped focus on something beautiful in dark times. Much love and peace to you, we need more people like Sully Erna ...Anyone reading this, I love you and may you find the peace and love you seek. I edit this to add one more point... The power works both ways, these bands who sing of killing, suicide and negative subjects that place negativity into the minds of developing minds or troubled ones should be aware of how their music is affecting their listeners... It's not ALL ABOUT THE MONEY

Great Episode @sullyerna this is a tremendous opportunity you are providing for so many people who love music, who love the music you and @Godsmack create. Unforgettable is an absolutely amazing video, it brought tears to my eyes watching all of those kids fall into that zone a musician gets into when performing music. Keep doing what you are doing, you and the rest of the band are doing great work on stage and off. My first @Godsmack concert, in San Antonio, TX Halloween Night in 2000, Disturbed, Godsmack and Stone Temple Pilots. That's when I was blown away by your stage performance. @SullyErna your face painted all white, you and the guys blew away the headliner that night, no knock on them, but you did. Thank you so much for all of the music. I am moving on to episode 2 and will watch live tonight, EP3.

Been a humongous Godsmack fan since I was just a kiddo, myself. Mid-30’s now and I’m still a huge fan. If we can get through all the quarantine bull-crap, an ultimate goal I have for myself is to actually meet Godsmack, and I’ll be darned if I’ll give up on that dream I have. Doubtful I could persuade the band to try and watch the cussing in front of my nieces and nephew, lol, but meeting this band would be a total life goal. Wanted to meet them since the first time I saw the music video for “Keep Away”. Hilarious thing was, after their self titled cd debut, I always thought “Keep Away” was the debut music video but as it turns out, apparently it was “Whatever” and I didn’t realize it until YEARS later. 😂

I love conversations like this. Other artists get it, those who aren't don't. Refreshing. I miss my late ex, used to jam every night, chat about music and art and it's cool to be understood and others understanding it. Not many artists, let alone rock or rock knowledge where I live, without such conversations and music and places to express it, I feel like I'm starving to death. Not full, complete.

There are scientific studies that look at the connections of melody, rhythm, harmony, timbre, and tone upon the brain and specifically the auditory system. It's interesting to me how certain tones automatically direct certain feeling and emotion such as in movie and tv soundtrack to steer us along the story in a direction in the same way the dialogue does.

So on the topic of the arts being cut. I grew up where the arts were strongly encouraged. I'm not sure I ever heard it being a consideration for cutting. Writing, Theater, Band, Choir, we met authors, sang at Carnegie, traveled to see musicals, competed through the state (similar to sports would do). It seems the instructors there were quite aware that having some sense of creative thinking and abilities ensured we could adapt to change. Use our brains to figure things out when we hit rough patches in life. Then I went on to schools where it wasn't important and seen kids whose schools were cutting programs. The arts are, at the very least, vital life skills. In times like now, none of us know what to do, lose a job and if no savings, people are devastated and lost. This is where those creative skills can come in and be relevant to how we move forward when we're stuck at home. As artists as well, we tend to draw/gravitate toward others that are. A great think tank for how to keep sane and also survive. Things we actually don't need take lower priority, we're aware and we can all evolve into a new system. Plus, me personally, music takes me anywhere I want to go. It's like time travel, but also sets mood or allows expression for mood and to vent those emotions. Such keeps my brain screwed on straight. Jamming with others, I miss, but even if I'm bored senseless, I can draw, paint, work on a larger art project, play what ever music and go in that zone or work on my vocals. Getting me through another day until I do figure out what to do and not feel like this is never going to end. Making the best of it and music, the arts, besides adaptability/creative thinking gives me an outlet. I'm forever grateful to the teachers I had growing up and still remember their names. I needed the arts, personally back then, and certainly helpful now but an absolute eternal part of my life. Cutting arts programs should never be an option, I can only imagine the obstacles youth face in comparison to the ones I had.

Agreed! I wish my husband understood why music means so much. I can just turn it up & get lost. Lost is good when life blows.
Music tames the savage beast/hearts. A little head bangin' keeps me off the ledge so to speak!

It's crazy how life works accidentally clicked on this show my aunt sent me a link to because Everytime my bipolar hits the dark I forget to listen to my music thank you. if you only really could truly understand how very close I've been to giving up on life all together too many times I've truly believed that people are better off without me... then somehow the universe answers with these situations that just save me. Thanks for the reminder... music
it's worth a try if you want to die, sorry about the sick humor but deal with it
