XFactor 87 is one of my favourite comic issues ever. Great dialogue and character development from Peter David, with exceptional art by Joe Quesada, and excellent lettering and colouring as well. Fond memories.
Good review. I love Peter David's stories and I love Larry Stroman's art. He loves to draw various body types in a way I haven't seen before in mainstream comic art. Even today. I haven't read this for quite a while. I remember an in joke with Val Cooper talking about her brother who works for the F.B.I. investigating a murder (Dale Cooper from TWIN PEAKS). 🙂
Really an extraordinary run I’m so happy I took a chance on this one! Easily one of my favorite X-teams, characters are done so well and the stories were just so fun! Agreed about Stroman’s art some of my favorite I’ve read from the 90s
@@warduke8192 I just got the vol 2 omnibus that starts David’s early 2000s run so far it’s fantastic 👏 Different feel than this but still a ton of fun so far :)
Like you I picked this up at a decent price but havent read it yet. Have to confess not a big fan of that archetypal 90s art style but your review, focusing on character and script has really made me look forward to it. And I have to say I may be wrong about that art too. Thanks for the review
@@garyfoster65 yeah I struggle with a lot of 90s art but this collection ended up really winning me over. Comics are a little dated but I was so thoroughly entertained with this run and the characters were the main selling point for me :) Picked up the volume 2 omnibus where Peter David returns in the early 2000s I’ve heard even better things about his second run on X-Factor so my expectations are high after how much I enjoyed this one. Hope you have a similarly enjoyable experience when you make your way around to this read! Thanks for watching 📚
Bro your opening for these videos insane ! I get chills lol. Now I wanna see you do some overviews of CRIMINAL by Brubaker. Your blockbuster voice would work so well with that story haha. Anyway, excellent overview man ! As a HUGE fan of Peter David, I feel it’s blasphemous that I haven’t fully checked this out yet, I’m cancelled LOL. there’s too many x-titles lol. Your review got me intrigued again for sure.
Haha thanks man! Yeah I’m newer to David’s stuff but becoming a fast fan! This was just such a fun 90s run I was blown away. I actually just started the volume 2 of his run set during the early 2000s/House of M era. Starting strong and even more modern 💪👏
@@TheComicBookReport I am having a blast rereading all these issues, and I forgotten how much I liked Strong Guy, it a shame he has pretty much disappeared from comics he is not even seen on Krakoa, and oddly he was the lord of hell for a time.
I cannot believe I slept on this so long, just reading it for the first time and I Loved it! Can’t wait to check out his work on this title in the 2000s. Trying to remember the last time I had this much fun with an X-Team 👏📚 Have you read his follow-up run on X-Factor?
Right?! This is such a gem and I’m so happy I read it! Hope more people will be encouraged to check it out. Currently it is among my favorite 90s comic runs ❌
@@TheComicBookReport Without a doubt, X-Factor fan for life, to me Claremont and Peter David are the best X-Men and wolverine writers, I would squeeze Millar for Old Man Logan and Larry Hama's run as well.
This book really got me to care about Havok for the first time 👏 And frankly it made me reevaluate a lot of 90s comics just because I loved this so much.
I remember seeing an old video of Peter David debating Todd McFarlane...that sure was a laughing mess. After seeing this review...this really looks getting..their pretty cheap now
