- Today's video is a doctor vlog from the emergency department. You'll see what a day in the life of a doctor really looks like. Then we sit down and discuss real medical cases that I've seen, where I give some medical teaching about how we examine patients and work out a differential diagnosis.
Whether you're a medical student, doctor, nurse or just interested in the medical profession, I hope you find this junior doctor vlog interesting and informative.
I have loads more medical videos that you'll love if you enjoyed this one:

Although we do order chest x ray for traumatic chest tenderness followed by Ct thorax if rib # noticed.....keep up d gud work sarah
Thank you! We would do the x-ray/CT if the injury had been more recent but because she had the injury a couple of weeks prior and had been seen by her doctor and managing well, I checked with my consultant and he was happy that in this case we didn't need to. But you are right and I should have added that in to advice about general management of chest trauma 😊👍 thank you
This is very useful thank you!
You're very welcome ☺️ thanks for watching
Hi doctor,Iam disabled because of a bom explode under my legs,I used to hate doctors and their face but when I see your face I feel happy😃😃😃😃

Where are you from? And what happened?

Love your enthusiasm for your profession! On a side note, I would like your take on whether NHS healthcare workers should mask up in the wake of the Wuhan virus now making it's round, around the globe.
The general advice is that wearing a mask at all times does not make much difference as the aerated particles are so small and masks don't have a filter. But they are used for example in surgery or in confirmed cases of flu to prevent larger splashes of mucus from coughing and sneezing from getting into the mouth and nose. Hope that's helpful!
@@suesueke6176 thank you. Sometimes patients are so frail and unwell that they aren't fully in control of what they are doing, so it does happen! Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it ❤️
I would love to know how being a locum Doctor works as a junior doc? I'm considering GEM but the work/life balance worries me as I'lll be 30ish by the time I qualify and having a family is very important to me! But knowing that there are options for flexibility is reassuring? Does this impact training progression at all? Bingeing all of your videos and loving it, so insightful! Thanks Sarah :D
Good question! I will make a video reply some time soon!
Enjoyed your video!
Thank you!
Thanks
a very useful video
Thank you ❤️
Keep up with the content #thumbsup
Thank you!
Hi
Thanks information full video . Kindly use a blue font for text description against white background.tell us about how you manage high fever in emergency. Pls make some videos on fever
No problem, I will use a blue font next time. I did think about this after I finished editing and wondered if it might be hard to read!
Hey Sarah your job is so incredibly Inspiring to uni students like myself! I am a 1st year undergraduate in Forensic Science... I was wondering, is there hope for me to get into medicine after I graduate with this degree or should I be thinking of changing my course early on?? Im worried that this degree might limit my chances of studying medicine in the future :(
There are many universities that will take any degree but are more interested in the grade you got, your entry scorefor entrance exams that they might require, your personal statement and work experience. So really it's not necessary to change your degree! Have a look at this for more info:
