I understand why they don't keep it up to date, but it is kind of hilarious that 90% of the minions in the tutorial are still in the game mode and haven't been for years lol.
I got a bunch of nostalgia from the tutorial, original battlegrounds was flawed, but it was honestly one of the most fun betas of a game I've ever played

Ignoring all the backseaters, as someone who only plays battlegrounds since it came out, outside of a few random games or modes to finish a quest or something, it's really interesting to see the process of someone learning how each interaction works, what cards are permanent versus only in combat, things like that.
He went into it comparing it to other things, talking over the tutorial, looking away, manage to make himself annoyed by comparing it to stuff. He didnt go into this to honestly try the mode, he had already made up his mind about this. If you are in a tutorial, and decide how things work beforehand, assuming the entire intention is marketing and not gameplay, you setting yourself up for failure/ a massively slowed learning curve, as that info will be hammered into the user lmao
I really liked seeing him just as confused as I was when I first came back around when battlegrounds came out, and even now, anytime I play anything but battlegrounds. Something he said has kinda changed the way I explain games to people though funnily enough, when someone tried to explain how a location is like an artifact, that doesn't actually help it hinders. You CAN explain it like that, but you have to understand both games at a basic level, and the person you are explaining it to ALSO has to know them at a basic level, and you have to explain interactions, not comparisons. @@LilyMrrgglton

That first game impressed the hell out of me, people can whine about misplays all they want, but for someone with ZERO knowledge of the game or card effects he pulled together a really solid build and won against a person running the same tribe!

It was his first game after all, and he did fine given that. But to win while playing that sub-optimally did just mean that his opponents were playing on similar levels.
the thing is, he also makes very bad decisions within the limited info he already has. He can learn to play better with practice obviously but this is an indication he is not a talent and won't be 'great' a factor is of course is his primary job here is to make funny content, he probably would do much better if alone and 100% focussed

I like to think about my turns a bit and the way bg changed overtime its just imposible. Also kinda boring to watch, the reason is above, just repeat every turn of every game. Same reason i found autoches boring be4 HS made their own version

I accidentally clicked on the BG tutorial but I didn't have time for it so I had to disconnect. I lost access to the tutorial since. I was trying to find the tutorial after watching a little bit of Kripp. Glad this one came up. Now I have a better understanding of BG
It is SO stressful (in the best way) to watch as someone else makes moves you think are the wrong ones, or watch them miss obvious 'good' moves... Unironically, though, you did really well. I can't imagine it's easy to have a thousand backseaters trying to micromanage your gameplay while learning a new game.

You do have sort of 2 (3 even) dimensional positioning in Battlegrounds, it's in the form of having the various kinds of shields, reborn and invisibility combined with normal minions. Visually they aren't in multiple rows, but logically they are.

I've only played Battlegrounds for the last couple years, because I don't need to sort through 100s of cards and 1,000s of mechanics to craft a relevant deck that will only remain relevant for a couple months. In Battlegrounds,it's not pay to win.
I think he chosen worst time to try BG. BG currently definitely can't be under auto-chess genre, because game is not about adapting strategy to what he gets from shop, but APM game about applying his strategy in most optimal way he can. (What i mean is, that currently game is about executing combo as fast as possible in his turn before time runs out, instead of utilizing resources as much effectively as possible, before his funds runs out.)
It permanently increases the stats of all of the minions that are available to buy. Pretty sure he understood that, though he accidentally used a similar spell that only temporarily buffs the currently available minions once.

There actually is positioning to a degree. You can influence who attacks when by your order. What they attack also isn't entirely random.
