  • You might know Bob Geldof as an activist and one of the organizers of Live Aid, the massive 1985 benefit concert to raise funds for Ethiopia famine relief. But first and foremost, Geldof is a musician.
He was the lead singer and songwriter with the Irish rock band the Boomtown Rats, which is largely remembered in North America for their 1979 hit I Don't Like Mondays. Later this month, the Boomtown Rats are releasing their first new album in 36 years, called Citizens of Boomtown.
Geldof sat down for a feature interview with q's Tom Power and talked candidly about music, fame, his memories of Live Aid, and his concerns about the world today.

Bob Geldof’s ideas are such bright “spots” & ideas. The man is brilliant & I adore how very passionate he is to help our planet!

Would love to speak to him as a modern kid to an old fashioned man and exchange perspective. I really really respect him for not being cynical and having hope

You had a brilliant shining light in your hand and you let it slip away. Too bad about that.

Great to see and hear Bob again. Just wish we could hear the music that plays on the show. No doubt it would cost money and etc.

Politically I have nothing in common with him, but who cares? He’s a proven humanitarian. He doesn’t just talk. He a doer.

Love listening to Bob, but he’s a bit too trusting of the left politically. He’s right about the Internet, but a little out of touch with the fact that there is hope for change through other mediums. Podcasts are actually a catalyst for change, I think.

Hard to take anyone seriously who thinks Paul Watson is a hero.

You Rock Roll, with tecnology Mark Zuckerberg and bill gates together cancreate a better world, because your goal is the same: put the people together against poverty, violence, which means eachother help.

Horrible horrible person, who has a list of very dead ppl who were connected to his life, including his daughter. Those who can't see through this one hit wonder fraud are as naive as they come. And I've been polite in this post, what i ideally would have said would have been the pure hard to digest facts.

@ Elizabeth Munson - you should be ashamed to be Irish if you don't know about music from your land and what they achieved also assume bands are one hit wonders because you go round shut off.
