Going by the comments, no one here can appreciate the historical value of this magnificent old hotel. You all want to junk it up and make it look like the crap that is made today. The crap they build today wouldn't last 1/3 as long as these well crafted things ! ✌️🇨🇦
Its says it does run. Maybe you could get permission to use it but I don't think you speak Chinese. I looked at the description and you said you got the key to ride it. I'm glad that the front desk knew you and I hope you get to ride it soon
Ugly interior, they should've put some woods in the new OTIS elevator to make it look a bit historic rather than plain stainless steel like that. I doubt that elevator would last for long.
I believe it was installed in 2008. Yeah, I must absolutely agree with you on the regular elevator. I’m just so apalled I stayed in this hotel with the steel box like this. But forget about the passenger elevator, my main attraction is to see that beautiful manually controlled gated Otis and exhibition!
I agree with you. This elevator is too modern to be in a historic building like this.

Nice hotel tour jim
Love that old otis elevator
Real shame you couldn't get to ride the historic elevator!
How did you get inside of the elevator, even though it’s closed?
I didn't really get inside the elevator cab at all, I actually stuck my phone through the gap in between the gate bars.
Nice.
I with I can see you ride the elevator with the gate on it that you showed at the beginning of the video.
That indicator is already burned out.
Are your videos your hobby?
Yes!
