These were featured in the movie True Lies where the bad guy on a motorcycle escapes through the elevators and Arnold Schwarzenegger gives chase by getting the other elevator with his horse.
Elevation Station Productions I'd love to ride these someday if I ever make it to LA. I've yet to have gone here, but I've been to the Westin St Francis, The Westin Peachtree Plaza, Marriott Marquis Atlanta, Hilton Atlanta, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Hyatt Regency San Francisco, JW Marriott San Francisco, and a few other famous glass elevators
I FKN LOVE IT!!! ME AND MY FRIENDS FROM I.E. USED TO RIDE THESE ELEVATORS OVER AND OVER AFTER THE CLUBS IN THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING OR AT SUNSET. IT WAS ALWAYS AMAZING!
0:50 - I should say yes. Every time I visit this hotel to ride these elevators, I tremble. I think it takes guts to ride glass elevators that hoist you up at high speed.
OMG! I’ve been to the Westin Bonadventure! Those elevators are really cool. On the 34th or maybe the 35th floor (I forgot which tower), there is a lounge called The Bonavista Revolving Lounge, it’s pretty cool! You should try checking it out next time.
I filmed these elevators, which I will be posting soon, but unfortunately up to only Floor 10 because it was keycarded. Still, I was lucky that I could go that high, and I want to go during the evening to go to the top restaurant level.
+JimLiElevators or I could just make one sooner. Do you know of any elevators that you like in the Charlotte NC area? If not just tell me a brand you like and I'll film it for you
The hotel shape somewhat has a similar shape with Bambu Runcing Monument in my city (with the difference is, as the name suggest, "Bambu Runcing" means spiked bamboo, of course the top are not flat like this hotel). Wonder if someone build a skyscraper which is an exact replica of Bambu Runcing Monument, with one of the elevator systems similar with this hotel
How many elevators are in this building? I know of these public elevators (I think this is all of them?) The 4 banks of scenic elevators The Concord LULA elevator going to floor 34 from floor 35 (Obviously added on, do you know exactly when?) The traction elevator serving floors 1-6 The hydraulic elevator serving the basement levels (Do you know when this one was installed, who installed it, and if it is original from installation or modernized at one point?) Service elevators (there might be some I don't know about) The main service elevators A bank of 2 traction service elevators (only serving the lower floors of the hotel) A bank of 2 hydraulic service elevators (only serving the lower floors of the hotel)
upanddownadventures Okay, you're making my poor brain do some work here... but I haven't been in the building since 2008... here's my best recollection. I believe there are a total of 23 elevators although it's certainly possibly that I've forgotten some or just don't know of some. I know of 8 service elevators. There are 4 high-speed traction cars that run the core of the center tower, 2 traction cars that are in the base, and another 2 hydraulic cars in the base. There are 15 passenger cars. There are 4 banks of 3 exterior traction cars located in the transition sections joining the 4 outer towers with the main interior tower, there is a traction passenger car that serves the base section of the building, there is a hydraulic car that serves the valet parking access, and there is a roped LULA car that travels between the revolving lounge level and the restaurant level at the top of the center tower. I purposely did not read your description/list before making my own so as not to influence my old man brain. As soon as the smoke stops coming out of my ears, I'll compare my list to yours. :-)
upanddownadventures Everything here is Otis except for the valet parking elevator which is Amtech and the LULA at the top between the lounge and restaurant levels...
Dana Danarosana When you say Amtech, do you mean Amtech Reliable, or Amtech Elevator Services (Amtech Reliable's current name)? Do you know who made the fixtures on the valet parking elevator? I think they are either GAL or early ERM? Are they original, or did it originally have Amtech Reliable fixtures?

This video does not do justice to view or experience, what's felt, when you are IN that elevator.
4:00 is my favorite part
Wow. That is epic
Actually plan on staying in this hotel during the summer on our LA trip
Ι LIKE HOW THE OUTSIDE DOORS ARE CENTER OPENING AND INSIDE 4 SPEED
4 speed?
You mean cennter opening 2 speed
@@elevcraft4-elevators808It's close enough

I highly doubt I will as the revolving restaurant is literally closed.
@@JimLiElevators Maybe next time
When did you go to Cali
July 17th to 21st.
Well it looks like you had fun
Well well well GOOD JOB
I LIKE THAT ALL GLASS ELEVATORS HAVE 4 SPEED DOOR
IT'S NOT 4 SPEED
I live in California and have gone to those elevators!
Los Angeles is beautiful when you have a panoramic view of the city.
I hope to ride these one day
Sadly, these are now locked with a keycard. :(

I remember this from 2018
What app did you use to edit this video.
Originally the UA-cam Video Editor, but now Movavi.
I’m new to the elevator community
I filmed a Otis elevator today
I filmed these two!
I also filmed these back in 2013
awesome vids make more
Can u just walk in to film or it's guarded?
Sadly, I heard that these are now keycarded.
Can I make a shoutout for you? How about on your birthday? I'm a huge fan
Sure. But my birthday is not until April 9th of 2017, so that's gonna have to be next year if you'd have to wait.

I partied there in the 90's
Was hoping this would go up to 35 - AND a view of rotating restaurant.
35 is locked as clearly shown.
I been their before
Doesn’t your ears pop when rapidly going up and down?
Yeah it does.
They used this hotel in Disney’s 1980 film midnight madness
Hey jim im actually scared of heights XD because when i go to the airplane or a high rise Buliding im scared
WHY IS EACH ELEVATOR A DIFFRENT COLOUR
Not the elevator ,the tower
Nikos Podas Tower names.
Every elevator just had different audio quality lol
These were all Thyratron Tube Touch Buttons until 1996.

upanddownadventures Amtech Reliable... and the fixtures are GAL. They did some installs with GAL. Another one is the Cadillac Hotel in Venice Beach.
WOW
Sadly these are now keycarded off :(
Oh man, I was just about to try it
Not as tall as the Westin Peachtree Plaza though LOL
I got trapped in these elevators when I came to film these back in April. Now you need a key card to go anywhere except 3/5/L 😡
That’s not good.
@@JimLiElevators probably one of the best days of my life (sarcasm)
