In this song Elvis isn't asking he is demanding. No one can convey emotion and passion in a lyric like Elvis Presley. He literally is the greatest singer of songs that ever walked on the face of this planet

Elvis will ALWAYS be the KING!! This song is the number one song in the UK most played on the radio due to the Covid because of the lyrics (we are trapped in a world that's troubled with pain) and even though when Elvis sung this, the world was doing fine as can be. Elvis sings from his heart and soul and that's a fact!! I have been an Elvis fan all my life and was such a shame we lost him back in 1977 (remember it well) .. There will NEVER be another Elvis or anyone that will even come close to this guy and his amazing voice!

Not a fan of Bobby Kennedy because, as the AG for his brother JFK, he approved the installation of wiretaps on MLK and several of his associates, who the Bureau believed were Communist sympathizers. For more than three years the Bureau kept King under constant surveillance, with its agents sending him anonymous threatening letters in the hopes of stopping his social justice campaigns.

Elvis' true love was gospel. As a teen he was a member of the East Trigg Avenue Baptist Choir led by the great gospel composer and Civil Rights gadfly W. Herbert Brewster. (Brewster said "Elvis' voice was the voice of Calvary, that suggested that God use him.")
Elvis saw his rock songs as "bubblegum," much as he loved rock and roll. He warmed up for those performances (even on the set of Jailhouse Rock) by singing gospel. He unwound from his concerts the same way, late at night in his suite with his backup singers and celebrities and ordinary people who joined him. As his backup Cissy Houston said, "You can't get away from your roots. Everything Elvis did had that gospel flavor."

This was the final song of the night for his "1968 Comeback Special," which was nationally televised. Earlier that year, Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated. As you may know, Dr. King was famous for his "I Have a Dream" speech. Elvis was advised by his manager against doing this song, because of the racial tensions of that era. However, Elvis INSISTED on doing it as the grand finale of his show as a tribute to King. One of Elvis's biographers said that after this performance you have just witnessed, he closed the show, went back behind the curtains, laid down prostrate on the floor, and cried uncontrollably for several minutes. So, yes, he felt and meant every word and every emotion and every sweat drop that came out of him that night.

Great reaction. You are so blazingly hot. So I hope you know that. But yeah thanks for drawing attention to this again. And it completely breaks my heart that this song should still be this relevant today but it is. They wanted him to do a Christmas song at the end of this television special but he insisted on doing this tribute to the late dr. King, who was his friend and had been assassinated a few months before. You can definitely hear the pain in his voice like you said, and as a singer, I know it is so very difficult to sing well if you get choked up with emotion but he was just so damned masterful that he could walk that tightrope. If you notice he also put on a nice suit and tie rather than a jumpsuit with lots of friends or something and I think it was just to show respect. I also love the fact that he's totally winded at the end. But then he often did that in his performances. He would give it his all.

As others have commented,' If I Can Dream' is his MLK tribute performance - Elvis was devastated by MLK's murder. People tried to stop him from performing the song because it was too 'controversial'. But he went ahead & PASSIONATELY performed it on his special just 2 months after MLK's murder. Elvis himself was part Native American - he didn't see colour, he saw people. A true Gentleman who never forgot his roots........he's still the King 👑
You really NEED to react to 'In The Ghetto' - sad but beautiful - He grew up in poverty, dirt poor but humble and so kind as a result - ua-cam.com/video/2Ox1Tore9nw/v-deo.html

Why try to avoid getting emotional? Elvis' singing is all about being emotional, having feelings and expressing them. I heard him quoted as saying "Music is all about getting out what you're feeling inside." Whether deep passion or being fun and groovy, he used his beautiful voice to express human feeling.

Jesus Christ is coming soon to rapture his people repent and accept him as Lord and savior.
KJV John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condem the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.
1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
John 10:27:30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.
John 5:22-24 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Titus 3:4-9 But after that the kindness and love of God our savior toward man appeared, Not of works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Romans 10:9-13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth in him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 5:6-11 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for the righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Romans 4:5-8 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto the the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also he have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall be made alive.
2 Timothy 1:9-10 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
1Timothy 1:15-16 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me First Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
John 6:28-40 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Galatians 3:24-29 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain
Mathew 5:16-19 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandant's, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

In the 1950s, it was extremely dangerous for white people to stick up for people of color. Typically, white allies were as subtle and secretive as possible. For instance, Black activist Rosa Parks organized a successful strike against buses until Black people no longer had to sit in the back of the bus, and white allies helped drive Black people (who were no longer taking buses) to work, the food store, etc. So they tried to do it while it was still dark outside, while their husband was at work, etc. If white racists found out a white 'traitor' was helping a person of color in some way, death threats, vandalism, violence, and even murder could follow. It was a big deal that Elvis was introducing Black music and Black culture to the white community in order to try to get more white people to care about Civil Rights.

You’re too big and Presley’s too small.
