I am amazed they never use any of his songs in films! This man made bloody fantastic music with the Move ELO ,The Wizzard and solo like this song Forever!Surely this should be addressed at some time so Roy is rediscovered by a new generation!
When music was melodic and fun. We waited all week for TOTP, and spent Fridays at school talking about it. This was a brilliant song, and one could be forgiven for thinking it was The Beach Boys.

This is precious footage, thank you for posting it. I have been waiting for years in the hope of the TOTP footage of this song appearing, maybe this is the nearest I will get. I can recall Dave Lee Travis introducing it, and saying "Which is the real Roy Wood?". Roy then appeared in a variety of guises as the song progressed. I would so love to see it again, but in the meantime this is a very good substitute.

I had forgotten how much i used to love his music. Thats what 2 kids, 33 years of marriage, plus all that comes with it does for you. Now, hearing it again, it brings back so many good memories. Plus, he looks very much like my best friend who was killed in the line of duty in 84. He appreciated Roys talent also.

What a year 1973 was for Roy.
1973 wasn't all great for Roy, he was attacked by a gang of skin heads and they started cutting his hair off, that's why he is sporting a short crop in this video.

That's not a "mullet"....nor was Bowies....a "mullet" is hair cut VERY short on top and sides but long at the back...as with Mr "Achy breaky heart"....Roy and Bowie had their hair brushed back....now in idiot America they might call that a "mullet"...but it's not...

Mmm how curious that the chord harmony is very similar to the ELO of the following years, not only in this track but also in other Wizard tracks. The use of the minor 4th grade is a very common feature in many ELO songs, you can tell that it was something in common they had and each one kept using it in their compositions. In Jeff's case I think he used a lot of the dominant flat 7th grade, 5th grade augmented and half diminished chords.
Roy Wood was a genius. His music would be a revalation on a show like Stranger Things. How may instruments could he play?

I don't know which instrument you mean but I'm guessing it might be the pizzicato violins.
(The "Pizzicato" technique is to pluck the violin strings instead of using a bow. It's a sound that was common in 50s rock and roll records such as those by Buddy Holly and others.)
