My highlights were : 1) Perrin & Egwayne getting chased by the Ravens! Whew that was intense! 2) Matt & Rand trapped in that shack and Rand uses his powers and finally realizes he can channel! Although we know he was channeling all along!! 3) The dead city, shadar logoth chapter was really interesting and heart pounding! 4)I loved Loyal’s introduction with Rand and their time in the ways!! That was super creepy. 5) oh yea ,the end when Rand caused an earthquake to stop the trollic army!! All similarities to LOTR disappears in the Great Hunt!
There were some good moments and I'm really excited to see where the adventure goes next as everyone says the second book is better than the first. I read the prologue for the Great Hunt this morning and it was an awesome setup for the story to come. The raven chase was great and us realising Rand is channeling before he does was really well done
You'll laugh but I had no idea it was Rand who channeled the lightning bolt. I was like "oh cool Moraine must have come to save them" and then completely forgot that when we got back to Rand's next POV.
That was great to listen to. I am one of those who feel differently about the series than those who feel the books only started to grow on them after book six. I tried to read the series twice, loved book 1 through 5 and in the middle of book 6 I just could not stomach it anymore. Same happened with the reread. Maybe it’s because I grew up with classic fantasy of the last decades of the twentieth century. As for Matt: I loved him! LOL
So many people love Mat, maybe we will in time too! It's going to be really interesting to see how we get on and whether we decide to read through the entire series or not. I have just started book 2 and enjoying it so far
I read the whole series for the first time a couple years ago, so this was interesting to hear your takes on the first book. Mat was consistently one of my favorite characters throughout the series. I hope he grows on you lol
I'm really hoping Mat grows on us too, so many people have said he is their favourite character but after the first book I just can't see it. So I'm really curious to see how he is in later books that makes people love him Thank you for watching
I really enjoyed seeing the two of you in that same video! Interesting to hear your perspective having read LOTR and some of the similarities. I am hoping to add more Fantasy to my reading this year, but probably won’t pick this one up due to the mixed reviews, but maybe some day!
I think there are better series to start with that aren't fourteen 700+ page books! From what a lot of people have said the second book is a big step up from book 1 🤞 Thank you for watching Farrah, it was a fun chat
I was very lucky to secure such a learned co-host for this discussion and even more fortunate that you were able to step in at the last moment when they had to pull out! 😜 It was a lot of fun discussing the first book with you and I'm very excited to see what The Great Hunt brings!
