    Weird! I don't do mechanic work but I happen to have a NOS sunnen bore hone, but mine is quite different. It has more of a carjack style mechanism to spread the stones. Most notably, it has a shaft that must be 20 in long, there is a hole in the metal box for it to stick out. I have never used it. Would this be designed for a different application? I always assumed it was for line boring so to speak. I never thought about it until today, but spring pressure is not sufficient to keep round, no?

    So these engines that run off of landfill gases, how do you manipulate the gases to be of a chemical composition that is necessarily combustible? I imagine there is tons of different gases produced in a landfill and there would not be much consistency. Is there ways to average this out? Like layering the garbage in particular recipes known to produce more / better gas? How does the system protect against something extra combustible? Like say someone through a way a full can of butane or ether, is this not a potential danger to the engine?

    When that fill rite pump quits working it is the cheap toggle switch they put inside them. I get about 3 years out of one in my climate. Last time I changed it to a marine grade toggle switch. Hopefully it lives longer.

    Pull the battery leads when you park that truck. Late nineties Ford F250/350 are the most commonly stolen vehicles. We've lost 3 from the parking lot at my work. Making a hidden battery disconnect switch might be a fun fab job.

    Great little video. Where do you find all this stuff? Years of contacts I recon, can I come?? Did you live out there when they filmed "Howard the Duck
    "? That little crane for the lathe is a great idea! Maybe a grinding attachment would have cleaned the diffuser face off better, on the next you did,,,,,,,,,,, What is one of those motors worth??

    • @OldIronMachineWorks
      @OldIronMachineWorks  3 роки тому

      Yes I lived here when they filmed Howard the Duck, Moved here in 1965. I try to avoid grinding on the Lathe when possible. Grinding off the hard scale with the hand grinder I think is the trick. Should machine easy now. If you mean one of the engines you can get a new one for about a million. If you get a reman engine it would set you back almost 3/4 of a million.

    I think if you had the drawing at the end of your videos, particularly the longer ones, this would be a good way to target your more devoted fans. I have seen UA-cam analytics, it is very strange to me how few people watch an entire video. I don't get it, but your content is quite interesting to me. I do the same with some videos when I am looking for educational content, get what I need and split. But I can't imagine many people are using your channel as a DIY resource

    • @OldIronMachineWorks
      @OldIronMachineWorks  3 роки тому

      I really don’t consider my videos DIY style videos, I’m hoping there videos that somebody can get a little entertainment from and at the same time pick up a couple little tips here and there. Gary

  • @jpsimon206
    @jpsimon206 3 роки тому

    I just wanted to float an idea. I don't really understand doing giveaways to begin with, you are already providing free entertainment. That said, winning something is always fun but I think a cordless drill is within most people's means. Personally and I suspect I'm not alone in this, I love your acquisition videos, weather is the junkyard or a retiring machinist. I have burned with envy for some of the things you have come across. Sometimes you pass on things and I end up screaming at the TV. I'm sure I am not alone in envying your access. Maybe for your next giveaway, you should give away some old iron. Something that your viewers cannot click a few buttons and expect to arrive later in the week. Just my two cents

    • @jpsimon206
      @jpsimon206 3 роки тому

      I'm stupid! I didn't even think about shipping, clearly that would not work out well. I still think there is some validity to my point, any viewer of your channel would likely be interested in old things. Maybe measuring equipment? I don't know. I suspect that most of your viewers appreciate old machinery just like you

    • @jpsimon206
      @jpsimon206 3 роки тому

      Okay I had a better idea. Machine plates. We all love the old logos and particularly appreciate the ornate brass emblems. It's obvious you like this stuff too, much is visible in your blast cabinet. Keyhole escutcheons, warning labels, logos, speeds and feeds charts... These all are affordable to mail and I think your viewers could all appreciate. Again I don't see the need to do giveaways, but I'm guessing most of your viewers already own a cordless driver, though it is extremely generous of you.
