Your certainly keeping busy 😊. Some great fixes there, I'm especially impressed with your pump repair 👍😀👍. 40 minutes well spent! Thanks for sharing! Cheers! 😁
Gary, I have a now deceased friend that used to like to say with a smile on his face that he could fix anything from a broken heart to the crack of dawn. That sure applies to you. Thanks again, there is always something to learn in your posts, the longer the better for me.
Repair videos are the best videos. Always something to learn. Don't ever worry about your videos being too long. You couldn't make a video that was too long. Thanks for taking the time to share these repairs.
The length of time of a video depends on the content. On these Tidbits videos a person could stop the video between the different projects and always come back to watch the rest later on. This forty minutes seemed alot shorter to me. Good stuff Gary I always pick up a lot of information from you.
Thank You Max. Back in the day I worked on lots of 855 big cam engines, they were used in the big versatile articulated tractors. Don’t work on them much anymore.
Mark, I thought the tidbits videos would be a good way of showing smaller projects that aren’t worthy of their own video. I appreciate you watching. Gary
It is a great pleasure to watch a skilled person , the time is of no consequence ... it's easy to come back if one wants, complainers are best ignored. JMHO . Thank you, and cheers!
Interesting about that drill press. I’ve virtually the same one that I bought over 40 years ago, new, named Ludell. I’ve now seen several more of the same model, with just a couple of very minor differences on a number of other UA-cam channels, under different names. Made in Taiwan.
Gday Gary, Great video Gary, the original pulley taper wasn’t held by much at all, I don’t mind how long videos go for, as long as its interesting content then I’ll watch, I prefer YT over commercial tv, Cheers
Ralfy, it’s always nice to have you drop by. I have not had much time lately to keep up with watching UA-cam videos. But it’s always nice to hear from you. Gary
Great work Gary. Enjoy every one of your videos. Especially like how you make use of the resources you have instead of always having the perfect raw stock or the newest of equipment. Thanks very much for sharing.
Thank you Patrick, most projects I work on it seems like I’m always scrounging up old junk material. But there’s always a new part inside of all old junk material. Gary
Steven, as you already know they are definitely older machines but still get the job done. Appreciate you stopping by the channel, hope you’re doing well. Gary
Thank you for another enjoyable and educational video. Straightening out the hoist control was quite interesting. As others have said, I'm always looking forward to your next video!
More is better, Gary. I will watch whatever you choose to share, regardless of length. What is different about an engine that runs on natural gas versus a regular gasoline engine or a diesel?
Alan, The difference between the natural gas engine and the gasoline engine is just in the carburetion. While diesel is a totally different animal. Gary
Whenever the engine decelerates it kicks the cam forward against that plate. It appears that small cam is gas as well? I am going to have to start a landfill and harvest gas myself with this $5.50/ gallon diesel fuel!
Hey Tom, hope you’re doing well. With the way prices have gone the last couple years I am going to put building an additional shop on hold and put a little more effort into my existing shop. My plans were to have a wood structure shop and you know how prices are on lumber. I’m also planning on selling some machines that I can live without. I have a lot of machines I have never shown on my channel.
Did they charge extra for the lint Gary? if not... then the lint was free! OK bad joke..... Have great weekend. Video needs to be as long as it needs to be to tell the story. For repair nerds like me. More is better :) Edit I almost forgot, last time I made a Sunnen order I bought some press fit lube. Thanks for the tip on that stuff
At 36: 00, you said that in aluminum you use end Mills as drill bits more often than drills. I'm pretty sure I know what you're referring to, but can you expand on this a little? Are you reasons more the speed, the service finish? Something else I'm not considering? Always looking to learn something new if I can
I should clarify that I prefer an end I’ll with aluminum and when in a milling machine. The end mill is more rigid and will cut a true hole. But if you were to try it in a drill press I don’t think you would get a very good outcome.
I have never tried aluminum, from experience I would say the aluminum would plug up the stone therefore giving you a terrible finish. Normally when they resurface aluminum heads the cutters have carbide inserts. Appreciate you checking out the video. Gary
Hi, this is Jane from Qfun, i would love to invite you to test our 6 inch digital caliper on your channel, are you interested? If so, please let me know how to cooperate with you, thank you in advance.

Good one . Nice to be able to make a part from an old piston . I have not worked with those 855's in a long time ! 👍👍👍
Thank You Max. Back in the day I worked on lots of 855 big cam engines, they were used in the big versatile articulated tractors. Don’t work on them much anymore.
Your boss needs to hold on to this vid for apprentice class when you have moved on. THANKS!
YES, I like this kind of content, keep sharing.
Everyday is a new adventure 👍👍😎👍👍
Gary, I will always watch your videos no matter the length. Thank you for the excellent content!!
I appreciate that, thank you. Gary
Always enjoy your videos 👍🏴
10:40 The reasoning behind the loctite is just so bloody perfect!
Thank you Dudley
The "Tidbits" video is new to me, great idea, I enjoy this type content. i.e. seeing various ways others go about repairing or rebuilding things.
Mark, I thought the tidbits videos would be a good way of showing smaller projects that aren’t worthy of their own video. I appreciate you watching. Gary

Another fine video they are never to long for me, thanks Gary
Thanks Dan
Thanks for the longer video.
You do very good work Gary I like people that take pride in their work👍
Thank you Scott, I appreciate it. Gary
That Sterling Drill Press looks like a Long Chang Machinery LCN- series, they made them to be sold under dozens of brand names...
Always a pleasure Mr. Gary! Thanks!!!
Thank you Danny
Neat trick with the super spacer and the bearing to true up a part. Learned something today! I always enjoy your content.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Gary
nice work, thanks for sharing!
Very nice work as always.
For a $40 import DP, it's like polishing a turd.
JD, I was told that the Drill press was priceless. I guess I miss interpreted the term priceless LOL
Thanks for stopping by. Gary
I'll take 20 min or a 40 min video. Great job with the tidbits thanks for sharing
Thank you, and I appreciate you taking time to watch the videos. Gary
THANK YOU. REGARDS RICHARD. in the u.k.
I personally dont mind long or short videos, to me it's all about content, and as usual the content was both enjoyable and educational.
Thank you Paul. Gary
Don't worry about the length of you videos. Because they are all very informative they are never to long.
Hi Gary. I'll watch the whole video when i get home tomorrow. I hope your doing well.
Thank you Randy, I have been crazy busy but doing well. Gary
Very interesting video Gary, keep'um coming..
always great to see your quality work - maybe you need some pliers in the blast cabinet to hold things? :)
You may be right LOL
Gday Gary, Great video Gary, the original pulley taper wasn’t held by much at all, I don’t mind how long videos go for, as long as its interesting content then I’ll watch, I prefer YT over commercial tv, Cheers
Thank you Matty, I hope you find at least a small part of my videos interesting LOL.
Always nice having you stop by the channel. Gary
You certainly have a variety of repairs to make. Thanks for the video. Keep on keeping on.
Thank you Harold, I hope you’re doing well. Gary
Whatever length you want to make your videos is fine, let’s your channel. I’ll watch them all anyway, Thanks
Thank you Rodney
Man! That pump was like new when you were done. And it looked like it wasn’t even good scrap when you started.
Thank you Glenn.
Interesting video thank you
Interesting use of piston
Thanks Dale
@@OldIronMachineWorks would piston aluminum be more wear resistant?
@@akfarmboy49 In this case I think it just might be.
Wonderful Gary, a great wind down for me to end my day with, I could watch you all day buddy, thanks for sharing

Jeff, it’s all in the editing LOL. Thanks for stopping by. Gary
Nice repair
Thank you Craig
The KW 860 is the same machine that I had in my shop. That brought back memories.
Steven, as you already know they are definitely older machines but still get the job done. Appreciate you stopping by the channel, hope you’re doing well. Gary
@@OldIronMachineWorks I sold mine in 1995 and it was old at that time.
I would rather watch 1 long video than 5 short ones. Great video like always.
Thank you sir, I appreciate that. Gary
love the content, most informative
Thank you Michael, I appreciate it. Gary
Truly informative, thank you, no need to shorten the videos, everyone has a pause and rewind , all the best
Thank you. Gary
Always happy when I see you’ve posted a new video. Even happier when it’s a longer one. Great work as usual. Greetings from Amsterdam.
I appreciate that, thank you. Gary
Hello Gary,
Good work as always... See you on the next one...
Take care.

You’re still getting diesel for 5.50 a gallon? I think our average is already about 6.50 a gallon. Thanks for stopping by Brian. Gary
Thanks for the tidbits. How is the home shop progress going?

What was the purpose of the sheet of paper under the part on the disc sander????
It just helps keep from scratching up the aluminum when I’m sliding it around on the table. I appreciate you watching. Gary
Great potpourri, Gary ! Will that Kwik-Way grinder do aluminum castings, too? .... Or will the stone load-up ?
I have never tried aluminum, from experience I would say the aluminum would plug up the stone therefore giving you a terrible finish. Normally when they resurface aluminum heads the cutters have carbide inserts. Appreciate you checking out the video. Gary
What size truck do you carry your bag of tricks in?
It’s just a little compact size truck LOL
Lots of good tricks of the trade. Will you be at the barn bash again this year?
I will be attending the bash again this year, hope to see you there again. Gary
@@OldIronMachineWorks for certain mind the on buttons 😜
Another great video Gary. Thanks for sharing!
What media did you use in the blast cabinet for the water pump rebuild?
Thank you Guy. The media I use generally is a fairly fine glass bead, either AA or AB. Hope you’re doing well. Gary
