    Nice video. Funny with the off-center exit lettering, and mounting holes that they’d call this the “Symmetry Series.” Lol.

    My favorite unit was definitely the small one it was just so cute and so interesting especially for being an incandescent emergency light it’s pretty small

    Wait a minute. I think those older plastic Lightalarms signs that I was referring to are the XBRA series, they are usually black, very rare that I see white ones, but I think there the ones that glow the orange punch out rings on the sides and back of the sign when illuminated, not so much the UX series which I think is a slightly different version, but might be similar!

    I remember very distinctly seeing all of these units while out and about. My local Menards has the chloride high capacity, but with 2 heads. I miss seeing metal light alarms exit signs in buildings. I used to always look out for the blinking/steady charge LED.

    ExitSign250, I saw an exit sign at my community college's campus that had the following:
    - Brushed aluminum face plate
    - Black outer housing
    - Off-centered font (by that, the left arrow was closer to the E, and the right arrow was farther from the T)
    I also found out it is currently branded by a company called Evenlite. But there is a possibility that it could be rebranded by someone else.
    Also, apparently the Evenlite exit signs have a tendency to get very dim, making them appear barely even lit when in light, but easier to see when in the dark.

    Emergi Lite X10 series has different versions with different faceplates the classic wide exit lettering either yellow plastic, or silver brush aluminum, and has a light screen with 4 divisions on the bottom of the sign instead of a grill with a slightly different punch out hole pattern for parallel wall mounting, and of course the modern metal chevron arrow faceplate which is the same color as the housing with the grill of 4 divisions on the bottom of the sign, and then there is the more rare plastic housing UX Lightalarms EXIT that has the grill of 4 divisions and sometimes the metal classic wide EXIT brush aluminum faceplate, or plastic faceplate, that glows the punch out holes on the sides and back of the sign when illuminated if the sign is white. The metal Emergi Lite X10 signs have two screws on the side of the unit to access the inside, however on the older plastic Lightalarms UX Exit Signs, these screws are located on the back of the unit!

    Thanks so much for all the interesting info. I always love learning something new from your vids. Could you maybe one day do a video on how to connect remote heads or a video about them in general in terms of how they work etc? I've been wanting to learn more about them but there's so little out there. From what I've gathered, only certain ones can go with certain units? Not sure about that at all. If you have any knowledge on them, that'd be great as I really want to learn more about them and how they work and how to hook them up and all that. Thanks SO much for continuing to do this series as I ALWAYS learn so much and better understand the different options out there and the history of each unit etc.

      does a florescent last longer then an incandescent? i ask because you talked about the energy use. thanks in advance.

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I’m very glad you enjoy this series and always learn something! I have planned to make an episode based on remotes heads, I’ll try to work on they soon. As of right now I actually do not own any. But it’s definitely on my list and expect to see it in the future. As for fluorescent lasting longer than incandescent, this can be the case sometimes. It can also depend on the type of fluorescent bulb you have. The bulb that burned out in the X10 in this episode was only on for around a month before it burned out. I think an incandescent would last a little longer. Generally though the main advantage of fluorescent bulbs is the energy savings. Thanks again for your comment!

    Very cool. And for that combo, how is the light spread on the emergency light compared to the square head non reflectorized unit? I have a square head non reflectorized incandescent emergency that does a good job with light spread. Its brightness is okay.

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  2 роки тому

      Thanks! The X10 combo spreads light almost like a spot light, but very dim. Non reflector emergency lights/combos spread light everywhere, but it is dim.

      @@ExitSign250 ah ok. My Lithonia ELM2 is like a flashlight. It has bright light circles but its still an outstanding emergency light. I also have an Amazon Commercial emergency light that has good brightness and better light spread than the ELM2 but my Generic non reflectorised has the best light spread and worst brightness out of my 3 emergency lights

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  2 роки тому +1

      I’ve heard people doing this. This will obviously allow the unit to last a very long time in a power outage and potentially become brighter too. I just have never done it for emergency lights. I do use LED bulbs for my incandescent exit signs though.

    is it just me or do the emergency lights at 2:40 look like remote heads a bit? I also know that NY exit signs lettering needs to be larger back in the day but am not sure if that's the case today.

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  Рік тому

      Good observation! There were remote heads offered that looked similar to this emergency light, but the heads themselves were on white round plates. And yes, there is a NYC spec exit sign. It must have exit letters 8” tall in red, and must be made of metal or another durable material. This code is mostly enforced to this day.
