Just spent most of weekend in tears at The Blue Niles music. So beautiful, passionate......Reminds me of growing up in Glasgow and leaving there and going to see The Blue Nile in concert. Forgot them for years. Timeless music.
The Blue Nile are just amazing...making music that makes me feel like I'm walking in a city at night in the rain...or in a film set...painting and layering with sounds , somehow capturing those feelings and emotions...haunting, never dates for me x
Chris Rea meets Robert Palmer meets Michael Franks meets Jim Kerr meets Paul Young meets...falls short of comparisons. Quite special, timeless music. Thanks a million for posting!
Oh. Man spot on. It brings tears to my eyes. It's a revelation. It is what it's all about. it stirs my spirit. It is so beautiful and so true. God. It hurts in a way.
have always loved blue nile , but paul buchanan has such a great voice and is a great song writer , if you haven't already check out , blue nile (stay close) PURE CLASS ,,,,,,, NEED TO SAY NO MORE
I came late to the Blue Nile party. I will not be leaving anytime soon! until I've drunk my fill. Addictive ! I'm a young 77 year old. But who's counting.
Hey, no matter ... you got here, with time to spare ;-) I was introduced to this Blue Nile, quiet city stuff early and can honestly say there’s a song for all seasons of my life ... uncanny or what? !
What wonderful lyrics, I've just found this music, beautiful, poignant, so true...I'm 70. Thank God for UA-cam, opened up a whole new world for me during Covid, I've time to look around and to listen ✨👏💚👏✨
I've been a fan of the blue nile for ages, one of Scotland's best but underrated bands. They definitely deserve more credit! Paul's voice is distinctive and that's one of the reasons why I love the 70s and 80s music and bands. This is every bit as good as Hats and A walk across the rooftops.
Kind of shocked.......in the nicest way. Since '83 a fan of blue nile. now 2012 and here is that familiar feeling as when I first heard 'Easter Parade'. This is a nice early Christmas gift. Thanks !
Actually not sure if I've heard anything better than this on UA-cam. Just about perfect. Beautifully crafted and another example of the sheer brilliance of the Blue Nile. One of my best ten tracks ever.
Andy Haydon nice comment Andy. I remember the night I walked home with A walk across the rooftops. That evening my life changed musically still love Blue Nile to this day. These things remind me so much of my late mum who passed away in my arms. Thanks All best Gary.🙏🏻
Not to put down anybody's inaccuracies, but this tune shows up on a 13-year-old CD by a band called Quiet City, Blue Nile's drummer Nigel Thomas's side project. Buchanan does another absolute knockout track on the same recording, 'Due North.' The CD is some very fine music (Nigel Thomas can sing too) and is worth it just for those 2 songs. Good luck finding it...
Thanks for that.... Oversight on my part not to mention it on this post but I tagged it Paul Buchanan so more people would seek out both the tunes he appears on on the album. In fairness I also posted a couple off the Nigel Thomas Album which is great and also posted the entire Album on my channel too. Hope that chills you out and thanks for the comments on this and Due North..Kind Regards, Mr Shhhhhhhhhhh
Jayne Baker Good one putting the whole of PUBLIC FACE PRIVATE FACE on your channel. The heavily R&B tracks are a kick, they sound akin to Steely Dan with a heart. May the Blue Nile and all its mebers past and present keep 'em coming.
beautiful......looking forward to paul b solo lp in april / may called ' mid-air' thanks a million for uploading these tracks mrsherco.... blue nile . paul b voice has been the soundtrack to my courtship / marriage and now soon to be impending divorce some 23 years later.....simply tearfully , sublime , beautiful ,poignant music
i have never heard this before. P B I see in the West End regularly. Next time i am going to hug him just for this.Could be a bit embarassing for us both. 2 middle aged Glaswegians but heh I deserve it!!!!
love both music and lyrics .......... so relaxing !! i even liked the photo too ..... it s a nostalgic view of a "couple" and the things that always should say to each other ....
Bk in t 80s I was in waterstones the book shop union st glasgow city,, it was early sunday morning and had not long opened and who walked into the bookstore , yep your right the blue nile them selves and everyone of them were polite courteous and I was soo taken bk by the whole thing Brilliant .
Why leave such a dismissive and condescending comment? This is from an out-of-print 2002 album from the drummer for The Blue Nile, Nigel Thomas, recording as Quiet City. It also features vocals from Blue Nile frontman, Paul Buchanan. It is very reminiscent of their sound and style and is a treasure to those longing for more new material as brilliant as this.
I just thought..... " if ever a couple were likely to have left things unsaid" it was probably these two. I also thought it was a nice juxtaposition with the passion that is evoked in this track as it reaches its climax !! On the other hand..................... I may have had wine !
Ned Flanders this is the most complete song i have ever heard.....makes me feel as if i am on top of the world. PaulBuchanan has the amazing voice to make my day. Each and every time i listen to this beauty.
This is the sound of walking along Sauchiehall Street at 2am in the morning from the Extension in the summer of 1976 ( You know who you are ) and getting last orders in the curry house just before it closed. A small man walks in and is refused entry, he shouts out to the staff ' your curries are mince '. You were there, you know you were.
Afraid I've never seen an Mp3 download for this album but Amazon do have the odd, used, copies but you do pay through the nose for them. If its any consolation, these two tracks are by far the strongest, in my opinion, but I'll upload a couple more of the vocal tracks off it so you can see what you think. Watch this space.
I was just over in england and hit up a couple record stores in London/Manchester. Even the guys at the record stores had been looking for it. Apparently there's copies out there but the people who have them usually know what they've got, so if they are selling they want a lot. Understandably.
It features on the 2002 album 'Public Face Private Face' by Quiet City (essentially Blue Nile drummer Nigel Thomas). Quite a rare album, so expect to pay a few quid!
Just like to thank MR SHERCO for kindly sharing all this brilliance I always come back to time and time and time and time again god bless from MISTERDEE
One of the greatest songs ever written
Listened to this song, Christmas Eve in Broadway England walking through the street lamps with all the Christmas lights. Wonderful song.
Ten years later, still sounds fantastic.
One of the most emotional voices of our times.
Just spent most of weekend in tears at The Blue Niles music. So beautiful, passionate......Reminds me of growing up in Glasgow and leaving there and going to see The Blue Nile in concert. Forgot them for years. Timeless music.
Gets me every time I play this. Paul Buchanan is a musical and lyrical god.
So many hearts beat to this rhythm, and so many will never know just how much they were loved.
The Blue Nile are just amazing...making music that makes me feel like I'm walking in a city at night in the rain...or in a film set...painting and layering with sounds , somehow capturing those feelings and emotions...haunting, never dates for me x
Word.
I agree completely! I wish that their music videos reflected that atmosphere.
This is exactly how I feel, too.
The man's a genius.
You said it so well... exactly how their music makes me feel like I'm in another place...
karlpulpfic it’s not Blue Nile it is Paul Buchanan
Still making me cry like a baby so many years later...
A song for lovers. And Paul Buchanan's voice is just pure deid brilliant. Fantastic with the Blue Nile or without.
Utterly beautiful song
Breathtakingly and mournfully beautiful. Each note and lyric crafted with such feeling
Ahhh the memories of an age gone by. I was lucky to find the Blue Nile & Paul. Will always have a special place in my heart for them.
The Blue Nile are so refreshing and subtle. Would loved to have seen them in person...
Chris Rea meets Robert Palmer meets Michael Franks meets Jim Kerr meets Paul Young meets...falls short of comparisons. Quite special, timeless music. Thanks a million for posting!
Lovely comments x
Oh. Man spot on. It brings tears to my eyes. It's a revelation. It is what it's all about. it stirs my spirit. It is so beautiful and so true. God. It hurts in a way.
Each time... really each time this song gets me!!!!
have always loved blue nile , but paul buchanan has such a great voice and is a great song writer , if you haven't already check out , blue nile (stay close) PURE CLASS ,,,,,,, NEED TO SAY NO MORE

Wow. So Lucky to be given this music.
This guy remains an utter genius !!!
I came late to the Blue Nile party. I will not be leaving anytime soon! until I've drunk my fill. Addictive ! I'm a young 77 year old. But who's counting.
Long may you live, sir !
Hey, no matter ... you got here, with time to spare ;-) I was introduced to this Blue Nile, quiet city stuff early and can honestly say there’s a song for all seasons of my life ... uncanny or what? !
I came late too. I did it on my skate, a longboard.
What wonderful lyrics, I've just found this music, beautiful, poignant, so true...I'm 70. Thank God for UA-cam, opened up a whole new world for me during Covid, I've time to look around and to listen ✨👏💚👏✨

Good to know that this has transcended anybodies top 20 :-)
and life is always filled with 'the unsaid...........'
Kind of shocked.......in the nicest way. Since '83 a fan of blue nile. now 2012 and here is that familiar feeling as when I first heard 'Easter Parade'. This is a nice early Christmas gift. Thanks !
Always happy to melt into the music and lyrics~~~
This is simply beautiful. ..words fail me!
Actually not sure if I've heard anything better than this on UA-cam. Just about perfect. Beautifully crafted and another example of the sheer brilliance of the Blue Nile. One of my best ten tracks ever.
@P Mc Try Stevie Nicks - Sara, same effect. Gets rid of my first tee nerves and puts me in the zone!
This completely blew me away. I love it!!
How beautiful is this just stunning
Voice to make you cry
Классная композиция.
Paul Buchanan lives two doors down from me. I'm his paper boy
Resonates....take his advice 💙
Where do you live?
Don't need to know the address number, but what's the street?
Has to be one of his greatest songs. Right up their with Family Life.
I first heard them about 40 years ago and have played almost nothing else since! Thanks Wal!
Andy Haydon nice comment Andy. I remember the night I walked home with A walk across the rooftops. That evening my life changed musically still love Blue Nile to this day. These things remind me so much of my late mum who passed away in my arms. Thanks All best Gary.🙏🏻
Beautiful song
I love you Paul Buchanan.........still.....
A track that just keeps giving. I will not tire of its way:-)
Love this song💖✨
This one AND "Due North"? You are killing me with amazing posts. Thanks for the overwhelming beauty of it all.
