    You know my passion for Libertads like no others. I have always used Coin Week Supplies for quality Air Tites. I think that came from you many moons ago. As far as silver Libs I am cozy with my entire setup of these great pieces. I can still have more though eh, LOL. Thanks a bunch for the update on these wonderful pieces. My passion for Mexican silver continues as strong as ever.

    I have been a dedicated stacker since 2012 and long time follower of your channel. I've prioritized easy resale through silver bullion coins and rounds with lower premiums. My appreciation for Mexican Libertads beauty and low mintages led me to purchase all sizes heavily in 2014 and 2015 at reasonable premiums. I capitalized on their growing demand through eBay sales for several years. Once their popularity soared, dealers started to capture all markups, making significant profits difficult to achieve. I did not purchase any Libertads this year for the first time in 10 years. I still have over 1,000oz, mostly sealed in mint bags from 2018 and 2020 which are semi key dates, along with all the 7 pc proof sets going back to 2014. Unfortunately, I won't expand my Libertad holdings further unless premiums come way down. Lady Libertads will always hold a special place in my heart and allowed my to increase my silver stack! I'm now comfortable with my stack and will sit on it until the gold silver ratio comes back down to earth!

      Agreed! We started around the same time and I’ve done well on the Libs over the years but as you stated I’m not going whole hog as the dealers have stolen my thunder for flipping!

      Man those old premiums were the bomb. I remember when Apmex was pushing out the 2014 five ounce libs for about $100 bucks. When popularity and premiums soared in the last two years, I planned to sell them. And I did. I don't speculate the way I used to, but if I did I try to remember that high premium coins in your stack represent an opportunity cost unless realized and reinvested. I like the 1 oz bu this year. not too bad around $30...

    Well if those are correct, I guess my 1/4 and 1/2 BU gold might have been an OK buy!
    Also that’s weird that the mintages are not round numbers like usually televised. I wonder if that’s the amount that has actually been minted but may not be finished?
    I know in years past there had been some distrust in Banco de Mexico because they were thought to be minting older collector coins many years later. Supposedly that was why their coins weren’t popular back in the earlier 2000’s. At least that’s what Don Bailey told me long ago.
    I don’t think it was ever proven or disproven.
    Thanks Louie.

      The 2023's Preorders for Silver Libertads started in mid-October this year. The Gold Libs started releasing for Preorder in Mid September. Both through Chitown Coin for 2023 USA allocations.
      Initial Preorder date for the Silver Reverse Proofs was October 16. I placed an order within 5 minutes of receiving the In stock notification from Chitown, as I figured the 1oz RPs would sell out quick. They sold out their preorders within a day.
      I received the 1oz and 2oz RPs I preordered on Jan 10. Extra month wait over the other dealers, but I saved $120+ on the 1oz RP ($259) , and $50 on the 2oz ($229). Monument Metals currently seems to have the lowest price on the 1oz RPs at $380. Apmex $423.

Kudos to you friend

    • @losinglouie
      @losinglouie  7 місяців тому +1

      You are very welcome. Not to worry too much. If handled correctly you should not have any big problems with the BU libs. After buying and selling lots of them, not too many turned out bad. Of course, those would be the ones I kept, cause you can't sell them, lol. The proofs, however, are really dangerous to hold IMO.

    You mentioned removing tarnish with tin foil and baking soda. Is that considered, "cleaning"? And is it detectable by PSGS? Can that same method be used to remove milk spots? Also, what type of storage do you use for older libertads? Air Tites won't fit, too thick. Just looking at mintages for one ounce silver BU for the past 3 years you show, those numbers are higher than published. Maybe they are including the set numbers in the total. Could also explain the discrepancy of the 465,000 number we got earlier; 465,000 individual releases and the remaining 48,864 to the sets.

      I"m not much of a grader. Have generally regretted messing with it the couple times I tried. That's with the exception of my morgans and peace dollars that graded well. I really don't know if they detect "de-tarnishing". But my guess is no, as long as you do not do any wiping or polishing, just pat dry it should be ok. In the past I have cracked open the tube so air can be removed upon sealing the entire tube with the vacuum sealer. Many also recommend a desecent be inserted in the bag. Not sure about the mintage variances, I'm new to this website.

      @@awakenotwoke4830 Under Mexican coinage on the airtite website, it says they don't make a holder for the 82-95 libertad. So, I typed in 36mm for the size, and it shows one that is specifically for the libertad. Called the "X-36". Weird.

    It’s very difficult to verify mintage numbers since the only other readily available source is Wikipedia which is an open source database. After going to the banxico site and looking at the figures, I believe, and I may be wrong, that those are production numbers, NOT mintage numbers. What I mean by this is that they represent the number of coins produced in a calendar year not a mintage year. For example, you can start minting coins that are dated 2023 in 2022 and complete production sometime in 2023 so if the cart shows that there have been 1,000 coins produced in 2023, we have no idea how many of those are dated 2023 and how many are dated 2024. Just a thought.

    • @losinglouie
      @losinglouie  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for sharing your expertise. I have noticed that since mintage numbers have been floating around (right or wrong) the price of some coins has been greatly reduced. And as for the bu gold, the lower mintage 1/2 coin getting scarce.
