    Can you do a breakdown on what OKC runs? Cause I honestly don't think they run any actual plays.

      On Cleaning The Glass they show that they run this play called Hawk at the end of games but they didn't run it very well or that often

    I think the post isn't as effective in this play. It can lead to being double teamed in the corner as opposed to the point guard running cause he still can run across from the out of bounds area to get the ball in case it gets broken. Regardless this is a good offense action.

    The one thing about this play is it requires very good timing for the passer and the cutter, I don't think this is recommended for guys with bad team chemistry.

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  7 років тому +2

      +Tommy Xiao8 only one way to get that timing down: practice

    • @MoDakhil1
      @MoDakhil1 7 років тому

      It's definitely not a play you can run without practicing but once you get the timing down it's great.

    I'm really curious what you think Malik Monk's abilities to run the 2 and 3 at the pro level might be, especially after his eruption against UNC. Some liken him to Ray Allen, others to KD. What do you think?

      BBALLBREAKDOWN you should watch some Kentucky film of him. He is a tad undersized for the NBA 2 spot at 6'3" but I'm curious what you might notice

    this is a great play at the end of the game when you down 2 and need a basket. why aren't teams running this in crunchtime?

    • @bballbreakdown

      aren't there better ways to get open looks especially during crunchtime? in the clips shown, even an average defense was able to bother the shot

    Why is it called the hammer play?

  • @benchow6355
    @benchow6355 7 років тому +1

    but this play lacks of alternatives when the corner is not open after the screen.
    The passer will be stucked at the baseline with no one to pass to.

    • @MoDakhil1
      @MoDakhil1 7 років тому +1

      Actually if they take the corner away, the player who sets the hammer screen should roll down the rim. They should be open at the rim. Look at the Detroit example when they hit Leuer.

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  7 років тому +1

      +theJumpBall.net BINGO! Also, worst case scenario, the defense has to knock the corner pass out of bounds

    its not so much a play as its a cut
    there can be 100 of ways to get to it
    and particularly like to see it as a third or forth option

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  7 років тому +1

      It's not a cut - it's 2 simultaneous actions, so I say it's considered a play. The cut to the corner can be called a Hammer cut

    Not a good play, a very narrow angle to shoot, too few options, and point guard easy to be double teamed

  • @user-mr5gt6ew4w
    @user-mr5gt6ew4w 7 років тому

    If this play is so "effective" why 90% of these guys don't score? I mean if it's a good play couldn't you just find the plays with scores, and not misses? Everybody knows that the corner 3 pointer is the most difficult shot in basketball so I don't think this is as good play as you say...
