This song has everything to show off k.d.: starts with funk, has her vocal slides, some Elvis technique, good 'ol country rhythm, sing-a-long tune and lyrics...BUT k.d. pulls it all together to make a hit! I'm more fond of her later work but this is so lovably classic...needs rereleased!!!

When ABSOLUTE TORCH AND TWANG came out, it was a revelation, as close to "country punk" as it was ever gonna get, and this song led the way. First time I heard it, there was no doubt kd lang was a voice on the verge.
Kd has alway stayed true to herself and her music . Never sucked it to any show biz crap. Swiss army knife of vocals.
k.d. lang always brings a big grin to my face, especially when she's singing something this much fun. Great talent!

This is the first song I would play on the cassette, then I would start dancing by the 2nd time it came around. It kinda reminded me of me a few years earlier going to the V.F.W. in southern Ohio. I loved to dance & still do when no one is watching anymore.

My mom had this record.. I just came across it in a thrift shop last week and now I can't stop listening to this song! She's incredible, truly one of a kind.

I've always thought that this song was written about herself, way back in the day! She is a big-boned gal, from Southern Alberta.
My sister lived in her town. Worked in a local cafe, after she left home, where KD would patronize. She thought KD had a crush on her. She also thought the song was about her.
My favorite song on this album...if you have to pick one...
Thos song was the first song that made me love KD 😁

She is one hell of an Entertainer. It is too bad that she decided to run down the beef industry. You can't do that and expect to make it big enough to actually show up at the CMAs. Country music does not like people running down the beef industry
