What do you think of the signing? Let us know!
It's pronounced Lewis
Go Louis! Make Wales proud...
Let's go!!!
He's half Maltese! 😁🇲🇹 Go Louis. Go Chiefs ❤️💛
LRZ don't Make Wales proud. It's a shame and a defeat for rugby ; he go to USA just for money.
He should have run down Jesse Kriel and tackle him. That would have made Wales proud.
@@reynaldparisel3852he wants to date Taylor Swift.
Ok im not a chiefs fan but being a welshman thats followed NFL since the early 70s and played american football in Cardiff Rees played football at our junior grade he has a bigger knowledge than a normal kid coming in blind it will be more about learning the playbook
He’s a specimen. Most Americans and most American football fans don’t know the first thing about rugby, but my wife is from South Africa and I’ve watched him brutalize the Springboks in Cape Town. He’s the real deal. When he’s on, he’s unstoppable. Love this signing for us.
As a South African rugby fanatic since birth I can confirm Louis Rees -Zammit is a specimen of note, almost good enough to play for the Springboks☺. I wish him well and hope he succeeds but the two sports are worlds apart and his journey will be insanely difficult. If he makes it the Chiefs would have effectively increased their fan base by a country - Wales - and the curiosity of rugby fans world wide. Maybe the intention all along?
They should have pick Jesse Kriel rather
Great video, and hello from Wales 🏴
Good luck Louis from your home country Cymru/Wales 🏴
Ah one of the great spectacles in all of sports
The Welsh singing their national anthem in Cardiff on a big rugby day
‘Land of my fathers 2013 ‘ nothing rivals this version and I’m not Welsh but this is off the scale
The Chiefs signed LRZ, in my opinion, because the Super Bowl team wanted a Super Bowl player. LRZ played for Wales in the World Cup (2023) and the Six Nations. He was selected for the British & Irish Lions in South Africa (2021) and plays for Gloucester in the English Premiership. That is all Super Bowl-level experience. There are plenty of good rugby players out there without that experience.
LRZ turned professional at 18, played international rugby at 19, voted MVP at an international tournament at 21. Rugby World Cup star at 23. He was the poster boy of northern hemisphere rugby. He is a sensation coming to the Chiefs in the prime of his career. Goodell has potentially found the most talented young rugby player in the World to give the NFL a shot.
Will Zammit become our new X-Factor on kickoffs 😁
4.43 was a shocker. High 4.2s and 4.3S in IPP. Has as 10.4 100m in his only attempt. According to the IPP head coach he and Praise Olatoke are neck and neck on speed in the IPP. praise is a British athletics 4x100 sprinter so trust me Louis is lightning
I was initially a rugby fan by force when I started talking to my now wife over a dozen years ago. She’s from South Africa, so basically anything adjacent to whoever the Springboks or Sharks are playing I’m extremely well versed in at this point. This kid is the real deal. A lot of takes about how there’s no real risk giving him a shot and developing him as a football player and that’s true for sure. But one thing I had to learn about rugby players is that if they were born in America, they would be in the nfl. I cannot emphasize enough how the world’s top rugby nations translate to the NFL. Rugby front rows would decimate NFL O and D Lines. Not even close. There are guys playing test rugby that will absolutely torch Tyreek Hill. And could immediately play the other side of the ball, then convert their own score from 60 yards with either foot, and from the sideline angle, not just from a hash mark in the center of the field.
A lot of talk of this kid being a RB or WR, but he can hawk too. He can make devastating tackles. He can kick from 60 yards. He can punt the ball out of the stadium.
This is a very exciting signing for Rugby fans who know anything about football, or Chiefs fans who know anything about Rugby.
So for those struggling to make the connection, here are some not even remotely inaccurate comps…
RB: Pacheco/Damien Williams hybrid. He runs hard and loves contact. Just a touch slower than Pacheco.
WR: DK Metcalf. You’ll see.
Kicker: Butker. Could take his job if they try him at kicker. Dude isn’t missing shit from anywhere on an NFL field.
Punter: I would say Colquitt. He’s reliable as it gets and can put it exactly where you need it to drop.
This kid could play and start on any NFL tomorrow if he knows the playbook. That I guarantee you. He has torched my Springboks at home in Cape Town. Twice. Ask all the Welsh/British and Irish Lions rugby fans that are here in the comments what playing the Springboks at Loftus means. Kid was dominant. Ask them about his 5 tries in the World Cup and the level of competition in their pool of death this year.
This isn’t one of those guys an NFL teams grabbed from Africa because he’s 6’5 290 or something. This is an expert level signing by Brett Veach. He’s not being brought to KC to find out if he can play in the NFL. He’s being brought to KC because Veach knows he can be dominant in the NFL. Kelce and Kelce on their podcast a month or two back talking about Rugby players in the NFL and how they aren’t the same sport and Rugby players couldn’t play in the NFL. Terrible take by them. Be glad another AFC west team didn’t bring this kid to play safety. His defensive comp would be Sean Taylor.
So there you go. That’s my assessment. Kid can do everything required to start in the nfl today. Can he learn the playbook? That’s the only remaining question for me.
I hope you’re right, sounds like Superman.
Chiefs have struck gold.....every welsh fan used to hold their breath when he got the ball....would make into a worlds best 15 any day of the week....
@@jamesgreen2346 HE WILL FAIL!! I GUARANTEE IT!! HE'S NOT THE 1ST TO CROSS OVER INTO AMERICAN/CANADIAN FOOTBALL SO HE WON'T BE THE 1ST TO FAIL!!
@@mrtnt3462 mediocre players at best.
Mad props for answering my question Hayley!! LRZ in da house!! Bryankend
Rees Lightning!!!!
Still slower than second choice Springbok Jesse Kriel
@@Gerhard2770 What? Who?
LRZ gonna make a splash!!!
Love your show, Hayley. A great way to get caught up on the days Chiefs news in short amount of time.
Love this dude! Can't wait to see him on the field.
I’m gonna enjoy seeing what role this rugby 🏉 player will be able to fill and what contributions he can make to the team. Frank Gore Jr. would be interesting to me as someone to possibly backup 10, if he’s anything like his father he’ll be able to pound the ball 🏈 on inside zone runs between the tackles. Frank Gore was an amazing RB for the 49ers, very successful NFL career.
All for the signing. Seems like a pure athlete that at best will be put in for specific plays if he makes the roster.
Halyee great video 🏈🟥🟨Go KC Chiefs 🏈🎖️🎖️🎖️🏆🟥🟨
Kid is the real deal. Dude could be a starter at the NFL level unquestionably if given the chance.
Love the format!😎👍 Do you have plans to expand from 10 minutes to maybe 20 during the regular season??
I think this is huuuge and if he can catch the football on the run at 24 mph. Watch out Hill ❤
Can’t wait to see what the Chiefs and LRZ can do but give him time to learn the game. Talent is unquestionable but he is going in to the NFL…the NFL!!! It’s going to take super effort from player and team to get the best out of this situation but if they do, look out, Chiefs will be untouchable
LRZ is FAST
HAAAYYYLLLEEEYYY!!!!
IF he makes the team, IF he actually gets any playing time, it would be one of the stories of the year.
Great show , glad to see regular format back. Still think show should be 15 minutes. Nothing else like it on YT. Keep up the good work
Guerendo.
A guy can dream. Two physical HB's with top end speed...
Would be a fun pick 👀
It will be interesting to see what they come up with.
So after one season of maybe 3 games can they then be elevated to first team for the second season?
Who can play him . Earns 10 times more than playing rugby , and injuries in rugby are common , and head injury post rugby career is now a problem , if he can earn the money , good on him.
Daily Hayley!
Louis pronounced, Lewis.
Hes fast, he's strong, he looks like Tom Cruise in his 20's why would he not succeed, can see him on a 50 foot poster advertising Calvin klein underwear, go Louis...start breaking Kansas city female hearts, & men I guess....
Your post is pretty hilarious but realist.
Follow Travis, Travis catches the Ball 🏈 lateral to Zammit.
O Zammit there he goes again
Hes not the 1st rugby player to try a skill position.
Christian Wade, Alex Gray, Hayden Smith and Jarryd Hayne all crossed before him.
All showed the raws. Some did some amazing stuff in preseason. A couple got regular season gametime.
Ultimately though, none lasted.
They were all older than LRZ. He has time on his side.
But i think with only 1 professional league where the standard is massively high it's very difficult for a rugby player to transition. The NFL is no place to learn or make mistakes.
Good luck Louis.
The French rugby player Richard Tardits in 1989 is maybe the first one ?
@@FromAgen was he a skill position though? Thought he was a linebacker.
@FromAgen there was an Australian guy who did it around the same time as tardits after being scouted on an Australian schoolboy rugby tour. Colin Scotts. He wasn't s skill player
@@robmcrob2091 Absolutly, flanker in Rugby Union for Biarritz and French national team Under 21 (Junior at the time) and linebacker in American Football.
@@robmcrob2091 You're right, Colin Scotts was drafted in 1987, thus, before Tardits.
Is the CHIEFS moving to Dallas Texas
Gunner or return . He can tackle too !
ZahhhhMeeeeeet, I'm American and it isn't that hard. LoL
Zammit is serious serious talent.speed .thought.power .clever.huge loss to rugby.massive gain nfl.chiefs
Still slower than Springbok 2nd choice center Jesse Kriel.
Weapons kill people, players play... I live in Wales, good luck, try not to get cut in August.
Wait until he succeeds. The copycats will be signing Rugby stars en mass.
I doubt it, this guy is an exceptional athlete and a standout rugby player with transferable skills to the NFL. There aren’t many like him, 6 Ft 3 220lbs with blistering pace, mobility and superb ball handling, passing and kicking skills. A very clever signing by the chiefs and clear LRZ chose his team of choice he had plenty of NFL options. Brilliant marketing also to grow the Chiefs brand across rugby nations.
Anyone imagining a burly brute, rethink that rugby stereotype - he's fast. And anyone thinking LRZ hasn’t seen American football before, his father played some UK gridiron, so he knows the game.
Non factors.
All about the money. I wonder, when he retires, whether he will give an honest review on playing American Football, a game that stops so they can put commercials on. Having said that, he's a rugby winger so spends a lot of time watching forwards do the hard work.
A running back...whoa.
