    I love the L drill at about the 14 min mark. I went to the pool hall to specifically practice that, and omg, was it worth my time. I struggled tremendously with that L drill. I absolutely love it. I can't wait to crush this drill in the future. I estimate that I'll have it down in a week or two if i only practice on my days off.

    my skill level went from a 4 to a 1 because of the incorrect tangent line instruction

      Lol, sliding que ball is tangent line, stop or stun shot.

    I think Florian’s got this wrong. The tangent line is the 90° path that the cue ball takes after hitting the object ball ONLY IF the cue ball is sliding upon impact, which is called “stun.”
    Florian is talking about different cueball reactions depending on follow, stun, and draw, which is totally different than the tangent line. For example, with natural roll, hitting the cue a tip and a half above center, the cue ball will roll according to Dr. Dave’s 30° rule. If you hit it harder, sure, it will stay on the tangent line a bit longer, but the tangent line itself has a very strict definition, and you can’t affect it.

      Yeah, I thought the same thing. Also, I already do all these things and I'm still a 4, so he's wrong about that as well.

      @@mbartnetta 5 is just a 4 with some position play. So if you have position play, you might shoot like a 3 and able to compensate

    The tangent line to an object ball that is centered on the center pocket runs parallel to the long rail or 90 degrees off the contact point. The tangent line is Not going to take the cue ball to the far pocket if the contact point is hit properly with stun.

    Didn’t mention playing defense… I think that is a big part of moving up skill levels

    • @briangc1972
      @briangc1972 2 роки тому +4

      Playing too much defense holds a player back. Shot making and then position play are what makes a player mover up from 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 to 6. From 6 to 7 is where strategy and defense come into play. If a player can only run 3 or 4 easy balls, then I have no reason to play defensively because they can almost never "run out". Only when a player is skilled enough to run a rack do I need to worry about defense. I occasionally shoot with a couple level 5 guys. I maybe play 2 or 3 safe shots an hour. I usually just out shoot them, run out on them before they get to a point in the game where they can run out on me. I see a trend with lesser player worrying too much about being safe instead of learning to make every shot in front of them.

      Safeties are definitely necessary on low percentage shots especially in 9 ball where if you leave a ball hanging it can easily make you lose the game

    Florian is such a fun and good player, but not ideal that he is incorrectly defining the tangent line!

  • @madmarvdesigns
    @madmarvdesigns Рік тому +1

    This isn't the tangent line he did a follow shot so it went above the tangent line...also I learned the tangent line as a level 2 went to a level 4 in 8 ball but 3 in 9 ball still....I think many level 2s know the tangent line it only works if you hit the exact ghost ball spot to ball pocket and if you know how to do the stun and draw shot so if you aren't hitting the right spot or don't know how to draw it can still give inaccurate results

  • @michaelsmith1267
    @michaelsmith1267 2 роки тому +1

    Yo, that's not the tangent line. How does Florian not know this? If he hit that shot with stun the cue ball travels to the short rail and does not scratch.

  • @tomgodzik3461

    I'm a 4 in 9 ball with less than 40% wins after 2 seasons. It's hard to beat a 4 that wins some MAP'S and stays a 4 for a lot of years. All pool leagues are not to great to play in.

    But that’s not the tangent line you’re showing… it’s just the cueball path - either following the tangent line, if the cueball doesn’t have any top or back spin when hitting the object ball, or deviating from the tangent line if the cueball has top or back spin when hitting the object ball. But the tangent line doesn’t change in relation to where you put the cueball, only in relation to the direction you want to shoot the object ball. It will always be 90 degrees to that.
    Of course this is something you know, but I am surprised this video came out like this and how come you didn’t realize the wrong wording here.
