I have been struggling with anxiety disorder for about 10 years. Antidepressants were helpful most of the time, but there were still difficulties I couldn't overcome. Classical meditation techniques started to be insufficient, then I learned the relationship between the diaphragm and the vagus nervous system. Although I discovered it late, this video has changed a lot in my life for 1 month. I think even people who think they are healthy should learn to breathe properly and strengthen their diaphragm. thanks for everything.
Great encouragement! Thank you for sharing about your anxiety and depression battle. I am with you in this struggle and I have also found incredible relief in this breathing technique. I am working on this every day. My life is better with breathing as my anxiety drug.
Hey man, glad you found this. This breathing definitely helps me with Jiu Jitsu but we're only on the mats for so many hours throughout the day. Outside of the gym is where it has really changed my life. Let me know how this goes for you, I really hope it is beneficial.
Kron is who I started this breathing with! It’s been really helpful with Jiu Jitsu and life in general. Hope you’re finding some value with it as well. Happy New Years ‼️
You got a new sub from the bottom of my heart thanks posting this I know I might sound like a loser but I've been looking for this type of video for forever dude
Just started the path to knowing myself better and had the pleasure to find your content, hope to be part of the enlightment for somebody same as you're being for mine, um abraço da equipe norte/sul brother, oss!
Great breathing workout videos! I can easily tell my runs are significantly easier after doing this breath workout right before the run. Is it possible to do a breathe workout video that would also show a side angle just so it's easier to see how your sitting and positioned during the workout. I have a tendency to want to keep a straight back but it appears your leaning forward significantly at times during the exercises. Thanks again, very much appreciate your time making these videos.
I really have to practice and practice. I literally could not sync the pulling in of the belly with the exhales when he went to the 2 breaths per second. Wow, I'm so intrigued now. Thank you so much for sharing this
Brushawasha, this video is really helpful. Thank you! Once I learned to breathe correctly I saw tremendous improvement in my life. My jiu-jitsu performance skyrocketed once I started using the correct Breathing techniques during my roll (Rickson intra and Wim Hof pre/post).
Awesome man, thank you for sharing. This was really helpful.I am going to practice this. Can you elaborate and explain more massaging the diaphragm ? I don't have a full grasp of that.I didn't know there was two was through nose and mouth. cool.
Glad you enjoyed Kenny. So as far as massaging the diaphragm, it's a great way to practice controlling your core muscles. I've noticed that the more control I've gained through all of these breathing techniques the easier it is to start massaging the diaphragm. And the massaging is when you see the stomach rolling back forth. It becomes an awesome meditative state as well. Let me know how it goes!
@@JiuJitsuFLO do you suspend your breathing while your doing the diaphram massage? Also, when I am doing the exercise I move my shoulders is that a problem?.should I restrain them and keep the focus on my stomach when either doing the regular fast breathing or the diaphram massage? What do you suggest? Does it matter? Thanks man. Highly appreciate it.
That is a great video... Thanks for sharing those breathing techniques. I have Always wanted to do that.. I have a quick question (maybe i didn't understand everything), do you hold your breath on the diaphragme massage ? Thanks 👍.. A dude from France
Question brother, when you started the exhale (1 exhale per second) when you breathe in, are you breathing in through your nostrils? Or just exhaling and inhaling specifically through the mouth only on that set? I'm finding myself inhaling through my nostrils and exhaling through my mouth - for some reason this diaphragmatic breathing is very challenging for me, I can't keep up with the two breaths per second yet. Great instruction, appreciate all the BJJ love here. Aloha
Hey Meher! So I wouldn't worry about whether you're breathing out of your nose or mouth, just pick one. Generally mouth breathing is easier. Remember that as you exhale you're looking to draw the belly button in. It will take time to gain control, just keep practicing. Let me know how it goes
Ok, that was pretty cool brother. They talk about controlling your breathing all the time in Jiu Jitsu, and for me in the beginning it was just remembering to breath. Now this is starting to make some sense... Not just breathing but actually controlling it consciously. I can remember rolling with one of my over 40 bros, and he was having an off day (even as a black belt) - I distinctly recall his breathing rhythm sounded off. Usually he's really good about being relaxed and then killing me, and he's always on me about my breathing. That day he was tired, or jet lagged or whatever, (he still killed me - he just got tired doing it) and he had to work so much harder. I probably sound like a dying horse most of the time. Man, I've got a lot to think about here. Great stuff brother! Thank you and keep 'em coming!!
Ive started doing this routine every morning with this vid. Its been great to follow you! thank you so much for this and keep up the great work brother!
Doing this everyday for a couple months now. This practice helps me find my breathe during rolls. Question, should some of these types of breathe be used during rolls or at the end of rolls? I don't mean general diaphragm breathing, I'm wondering if any of this should be used for specific advantages?
I’ve been enjoying all of your videos. Using the HITT workouts when I can’t make it to the gym and This breathing one is excellent as well. Thank you so much for your content!
Thanks, really helpful. Started implementing in my morning routine. Lifts me up!!! On what do you focus on massaging the diaphragm? I can pull the belly button in but I can’t contract the muscles so that you can see the movement. Do you know what I mean? Well, maybe it’s just practice.
This is a good question! I also wanted to ask the same. I mean, I try to move around, loosen a flex my abs but I just simple cannot perform what I see on the video. My issue is, that I do not even know what I should feel or how I should do that part :) Any hints on that maybe, or a video? Thank you!
Thank you for the video. I'm just starting and just seeing how difficult it is to do it i can bet on the benefits. However how do you do the massage part. Can't do that... Any advice?
I'm trying to learn belly breathing to improve my cardio while rolling. Belly breathing while sitting is pretty easy but as soon as the roll starts the body goes back to the old , bad habits of chest breathing and mouth gasping for air. Do you have any suggestions on how to train and master this breathing while rolling? The conscious brain can only do one thing at a time and mine is too busy thinking about position and submissions and forgets to breath this way. How do I make it come naturally without thinking about it? Thanks!
I could be wrong, but perhaps practicing this everyday;in the morning and before class will train the mind to diaphragm connection. Then when rolling , the mind will remember.
I cant do the third exercise due to it being too quick. Or rather I can but i don't see my stomach being sucked in. Will it just come over time of doing the first 2 exercises?
Is this only helpful for jiu jitsu, or this can also be helpful for other sports and martial arts. Also, how does it improve physical performance, if it is?
I use these breathing techniques in all aspects of my life. Not only has gaining more control of my breath helped me in a sport or self defense aspect, but it’s helped me in my work and personal life because I use it as a tool to manage my emotions.
Thank You for this lesson, I was waiting for it:) Moreover, I have not seen such lessons in the Russian BJJ community. And it is quite diifficult to me make excercises from 5 to 10. The faster the harder. And on the step 7 I had a little dizziness:) But I think this is just a lack of experience and will continue to do these excerises.
Glad you enjoyed Alexander! Keep practicing but definitely be careful and aware of your body if you're starting to feel dizzy or light headed. I really appreciate the feedback and stay tuned for more to come.
How long does it take if somebody is able to do the diaphrame massage? Last 2 min. From workout you did! I know evrybody is diffrent, but round about? And is there a technique that it is easier to learn this?
It is very difficult to keep a pace of 2 breaths per second, let alone the rapid fire segment he does towards the end. Any tips for diaphragm control? I kind of feel like I’m hiking my diaphragm up and not horizontally Peace ✌🏼
After 2 weeks I can move the diaphragm inside a little, but I know no idea what I should do to put it outside (and show the abs popping out). Is it a contraction of the abs? What are the muscles I have to move and in what direction? Can you describe how to do it and how it should feel?
I don't always have time to do this full workout, I usually take part of it and combine together first thing in the morning, then before and after training, and again before I go to bed. What did you think of it? Appreciate your feedback!
@@JiuJitsuFLO I think a great workout that is not much talk about as a holistic practice to wellness.more people should be doing this.i do other breathing style. This the first time I have seen some explain this way.so far the best video I have seen explain it.thank you for sharing and responding back.
I do this before and after rolling. Depending on my energy levels, I will focus on a deep-slow breath pattern to calm myself down and regain my composure. Or, if I need to wake myself up and kick things into gear I will focus on shorter quick breaths to activate my energy systems. Once you start learning to control your breath it definitely helps with your cardio and endurance.
@@JiuJitsuFLO Thanks man. Started doing this every other day since I saw this video. As of right now I’m just working on controlling and getting some rhythm with my diaphragm when I breath. Appreciate the knowledge!
Anyone else see the monster this guy makes on his body bottom of the pecks = bottom of the eyes the littile white on his sternum =nose And his belly the mouth During the first 6 belly looks like a smile during last 2 was a gaping maw coming to steal my soul.
