I've seen those bits of vegitation sticking out of the ramp. Wasn't sure what they were. The Judean Desert is so dry, stuff remains unchanged for centuties.

Date palms are propagated by offshoots or tissue culture to ensure the propagated plants a clones of the parent plant and hence will produce the exact type of date. The new date variety in video is genetically closely related to the ancient date palms, but it is not exactly of the same variety grown back then

They are most likely identical to other dates grown in the region. 2000 y.o. seed does not necessarily mean the fruit is different in any way.
