Back in 1987, while at Masada, I left via a trail on the west side. At one point it crosses the Roman ramp. There, sticking out of the ground, were palm fronds that had been probably brought from Engedi to provide structure to the soft Senonian chalk mined nearby to hold the loose material in place. 1,917-year-old palm fronds!

At 2,000 years old, Methuselah’s seed isn’t the most aged to be used to grow a plant-not by a long shot. Back in 2012, a team of Russian scientists unearthed a cache of seeds from a prehistoric squirrel burrow that had been covered in ice. They eventually succeeded in germinating the 32,000-year-old specimens

The chances they would get a good tasting date is also a miracle. My understanding is that (like apple seeds) it is rare to get good tasting dates just from seed, but you must use the pups from those females that have the yummy taste. @bethyngalw 2 роки тому +15

@@SunriseLAW dna tests on the various trees show genetic links to both Moroccan dates and dates from Iraq, Iran, and the southern Arabian peninsula. The older date stones - methuselah and hannah were closer related to the eastern modern date species. All of them were hybrids to some extent but hannah and methuselah were more 'pure' eastern. Hannah was most closely related to the khastawi iraqi date, methusaleh was most closely related to the arabian khalas date. None of them are identical to any modern species though. But all the date stones, prior to being planted, were measured and studied, and they were shown to be considerably larger than modern date stones. So they are not the same as modern dates, although they are genetically related.

*Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.*
*Chapter Surah Yaseen ( Quran )*
    Verse : 33
And a sign for them is the dead earth; We revived it and then We produced from it grains, so they eat therefrom.
    Verse : 34-35
And We have made in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made some springs to flow there in. That they may eat from its fruits, and these (gardens of fruits) are not created by their hands, so will they not acknowledge the right (of Allah)?
    Verse : 36
Purity is to Him Who created all, in pairs, from those things what the earth produces, and (He also made pairs) from themselves and from those things of which they have no knowledge.
    Verse : 37
And a sign for them is the night from which We draw out (the light of) the day, thereupon they are in darkness.
    Verse : 38
And the sun moves towards its final point (i.e. the Day of Judgement); this is the command of the Almighty, the AllKnowing.
    *(Specially the following verses 👇)*
    Verse : 39

Date palm seeds are never true to type.
Whenever you plant a date pit you’ll get a new variety of dates. Just like human babies, each one has his/her own unique DNA.
Date palms are propagated by offshoots or tissue culture to ensure the propagated plants a clones of the parent plant and hence will produce the exact type of date.
The new date variety in video is genetically closely related to the ancient date palms, but it is not exactly of the same variety grown back then

Ok. The way UA-cam works is .. you watch a video . .and .. BEHOLD!! .. another related video pops up. Sometimes this can be .. call it irritating (clicking on a video of women in bathing suits leads to some very strange videos). In this case though ..I keep seeing videos of the Judean Dates. Those women in bathing suites caught my attention .. of course .. I am a hetro male after all. The ladies that brought these dates back from death .. they .. elders that they are .. make me admire them .. no matter how beautiful young women in skimpy bathing suites are. Hmmmm. How weird is that?

The dates weren't 2,000 years old. They were freshly picked. The tree they came from was sprouted from seeds that were 2,000 years old.
