I can back any size or type of trailer or equipment as long as I can look back over my right shoulder. It's instinctive. But, when I try to use mirrors everything is backwards and my brain doesn't want to function that way. I'll have to try the hand on the bottom of the wheel to see if that helps. Thanks.
Cool!! I see the trick! I used to do it with hand on top of the steering wheel which was turn opposite where you wanted to go. By having you hand on the BOTTOM of the steering wheel, you are pushing in the direction you want to go! Thank you so much for that tip!
for some people its hard to sort that method out. if you use your had on the bottom what he said make since but if you don't and have it in a normal spot this way will be confusing so I just tell them to hold the steering wheel the way you would normally do [not on the bottom] and turn it in the opposite way you want the boat are trailer to go. Either way it takes practice You need to go with what ever way that works for you. Great video.
I drive a tractor-trailer for a living so backing my boat is snap. The best advise I can give to someone using your mirrors is, when you see the trailer start to come into the mirror, turn into that mirror to bring it back out. FISH ON!!
Best Advice: 1. Hand on bottom of the wheel to start in the right direction . . . then follow the trailer to continue the turn. 2. "When you see the trailer start to come into the mirror, turn into that mirror to bring it back out." Thanks. : )
I've listened to all the experts, grab the bottom of the steering wheel, etc. Somehow my brain doesn't work that way. If can see they boat or trailer and look behind no problem at all. Unloaded trailer where I can't see without mirrors dropping down a boat ramp screws me up every time. I struggle with this every time. I can make it work with pulling back up to straighten out several times but why my brain can't figure this out is beyond me.
i dont know how many people i have told to put your hand on the bottom of the wheel and then turn the wheel the way you want the trailer to go, and they think your nuts, i remeber when i ran a resort for my dad i launched many boats for customers, i had them just have a coffee and wait in the restraunt. and for fun later in theday we would sit in lawn chairs and watch the boats being launched
id like to see you back a 3x3 foot utility trailer on that truck hahaha talk bout over steer you barely bump the wheel an your runnin the trailer over but if u wanna really have fun blind side back a 53 foot spread axle reefer in a place meant for box trucks
Good video with sound tips, thanks for taking the time to make it and sharing your tips.
Wow...that little tip works better than anything I've heard before! Thanks!
And yes, everyone, it works! I just did it!
I'm glad someone came out with this its common sence , just take your time , that's the whole key to this secret.

Great video. I just got a boat-similar to the one in this video. I have not backed up a boat before and this helps a lot.

WTF $20 launch fee?
Anyone who owns a boat better know how to launch it. Just common sense advice here.
Okay, you've done it with a simple trailer, now show us how to do it with a full trailer, you know, the ones with the dolley?
@iloveboats1 and when a girl say no shes means yes :) no just kidding
20 $??? no thx,i will go buy fish for 20 $ and save the gas and the boat.
