I used to ride the Bayern Kurve in the late 70s when it was located at Cedar Point. I would have never gone on it if it ran at 70 mph unless I had a death wish. 😂Thanks for the mathematical clarification. 👍
Have you seen how fast the BK that operates in Luxembourg,Germany? Schwarzkopf was legendary in designing flat rides that packed a helluva punch! Bayern Kurve was one of them. Regardless of speed facts,if this ride goes fast….it’s one AWESOME,AWESOME ride!
Thanks for this video, definitely agree with you on the speed of the Kurve and I think Kennywood ran theirs around 32 mph but I know it was faster back when the ride was brought back in 2008 but I heard it was slowed down to the speed in your video due to longevity of the ride. Regardless of the speed I definitely plan to make a trek to knoebels as the Kurve is one of my favorite flats and I definitely miss the one at kennywood
The 70 miles is PEAK PERFORMANCE! NOT CONTINUOUS! The ride would shake itself apart if it were operated at 70 miles an hour... But due to its tire /blade traction propulsion system consisting of four wheels near the operator/ ticket booth and four on the far side, it DEFINITELY CAN reach that speed... that's why it tilts inwards. The inward tilt is to push riders in their seats by increasing gravity as speed picks up. It's two-fold; it ads to the spectacle of riding AND it's there for safety reasons... They have actually thought this thru at Schwarzkopf's See Here: ua-cam.com/video/-dkSZs3jZmY/v-deo.html -Notice the tires screaming as they speed up
Interesting video. However that 14g is too much for riders is irrelevant to how fast the ride can go. Like others mentioned that's peak anyway, not what you'd do a full ride at.
In defense of Knoebels, they did say it is capable of going 70 miles per hour. And from my rides of the past all of them fluctuated the speed and did not sustain top speed for more than a minute. We're going to recruit you to spend a full day at Knoebels with an accelerometer and speed measuring devices to test ALL the rides for positive and negative Gs and speeds. We're sure you can do a great job like you did with this video. 👍
What’s funny is I actually do use Ride Forces to accelerometer rides for fun a lot :P. Again, not trying to accuse Knoebels of being malicious here. I love the place!
@@g-forceproductions1857 👍 Great perhaps you can start with some extensive research on Phoenix by analyzing every seat to see where the most airtime is and if seat 3 is really the magical seat and if the front is better than the back. You can also do a map pointing out the airtime spots with the readings. We don't think you'll have a problem working overtime when visiting Knoebels 😅📈📉📊
@@easynhonest I have watched offride frame by frame footage and one of the last airtime hops the central part of the ride for sure comes off the track in some way. I think Knoebels definately has done something special with the upstops to produce that. It was right around seat 3. You can hear the cart slam the track right around that spot as well.

That 70 mph Bayern Kurve would be wicked though… 😉 I say run it up to about 50 very quickly and then back down…

Yeah I was very disappointed when Kennywood removed it, so it's great to see another one return to Pennsylvania!
you have to remember the the curve's cars tilt inward proportionally as it speeds up

I ❤ people that know what they’re talking about. Thanks.
Why did kennywood demolish what could be sold?
They did sell it. As parts, to California's Great America.
