Kick ass song and kick ass group kicks ass. Aespa has two of the best singers in ALL KPop (NingNing and Winter) and ALL four could be lead vocalist for any other KPop group. Their choreo is NEXT LEVEL (check that song out), and Karina is an absolute GODDESS being one of the best dancers in KPop with the best body and looks. Truly crazy how good this group is.

Yess "Black Mamba" is their debut and it's insane! I knew I had to stan these girls the second i saw this lol The lyrics are very centered around their lore, just like "Next Level". 2:11 Yes that's Ningning! She's a crazy vocalist and so pretty, she's the maknae (the youngest). She's also my bias lol The choreo is also super impressive! There are some theories about that ending (correct me MYS if this has been confirmed or explained), but it's either that is Navis, the AI system that helps Aespa's ae avatars appear in the real work, or Black Mamba (the villain they need to fight) waking up (this theory seems very likely to me), or that this was connected to Kai of EXO's solo song "Mmmh" that came out after "Black Mamba". Next you need to check out Aespa's song "Forever", this one isn't really lore focused I don't think, but it's a beautiful song and shows how versatile they are musically and capability wise. We are unfortunately still waiting for a mini album, but it should be coming this year. So far we only have 3 songs (Black Mamba, Forever, and Next Level) and the episode 1 of the SMCU to work with.

This is terms in aespa :

FLAT - The FLAT is the digital world where æ-aespa live.
KWANGYA - KWANGYA is the unprescribed, infinite digital world beyond the FLAT with no rule or form.
NÆVIS - NÆVIS (pronounced and sometimes spelled “NAVIS”) is the AI entity that connects the portal between the FLAT and KWANGYA.
O.S - Short for “Port of Soul,” P.O.S is a portal that connects the FLAT with the real world.
REKALL - REKALL is when æ cross over to the real world.

You may encounter different words used as the lyrics of the song, it is a reference for the upcoming SM Entertainment launch of new era for kpop.
Also the concept of Aespa is connected to all the groups of SM Entertainment. Kwangya is the name of the new world where their AI lives and they all going there to experience a new world.

Gray hair with keyboard : NINGNING
Blonde hair with blue ombre : WINTER
Blonde hair with deep voice : GISELLE
    Black hair : KARINA
The group's name, aespa, is a combination of "ae" composed of the English initials of Avatar and Experience (Avatar X Experience), plus the English word "aspect" meaning "two sides", which symbolizes "meeting another self and experiencing new the world".
    Debut song
Black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) is a species of highly venomous snake.
Description for aespa's debut song :
Story of adventures unrolled upon the realization that 'Black Mamba’ is a threatening existent to the world and a hindrance to the connection of aespa & 'ae', their avatars.
You can see in the MV, Karina got the message from Black Mamba in her phone and suddenly the train full of flower, black mamba (snake) came to their world and then karina's eyes change and suddenly move to another scene, I think she is the one who get targeted and get influenced. And after that scene the scene look so dark. And then ae-Karina seems so sad looking to karina but Karina seems so plain and ae-Winter dissappear in the mirror.
Black Mamba like a virus too here.
And then finally they fight back.
The one at the end, maybe she is ae-Black Mamba.
Please react to their individual video SYNK too in aespa official channel. You can see more each member talent there like singing, rap and dancing. You will see more their ae too there. Each video less than 2 minutes btw.
    Thank you so much.
Cant wait for your reaction to Ep.1 Black Mamba.

There are very few girl groups that I connect with.... personally, not a fan of the cutesy concept which the majority of gg's go for and I typically just prefer the darker/deeper music styles and vocal tones in general.... but I've really liked what Aespa's done so far and am excited for what's to come.
    A couple of girl groups I would recommend are;
*Mamamoo* - AYA (the vocal QUEENS)
*Everglow* - First (best gg mv of 2021, imo)
*Red Velvet* - Psycho (sonically gorgeous, especially w/ good headphones - also big sister group of Aespa)
*Blackpink* - Ddu-Du Ddu-Du (biggest gg in the world)
*Purple Kiss* - Ponzona (GREAT rookie group, also little sisters of Mamamoo)
AND, if you'd like to check out the VERY rare co-ed group, there is the group *KARD*, maybe start w/ their newest mv called 'Gunshot'.

@@rjkpop Blackpink is who Sparta-kicked me down this rabbit hole about 18mos ago. 🥴
Just to clarify, Red Velvet does occasionally do cutesy... HOWEVER, there's almost always a homicidal undercurrent to it. 😃 You'll see someday.

As with all the groups under SM Entertainment, their storylines and concepts are all part of SM's Universe, including aespa's storyline. It is even speculated that aespa's story connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. I think SM has set it up so that at least all of their third generation groups -- and now even fourth gen. groups, with the introduction of aespa -- have storylines that connect, link together and intertwine. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together there are threads of connections between the groups.
LOL, yeah what a debut, but I wouldn't expect anything less from SM Entertaiment. Just consider how epic EXO's and SuperM's debuts were. 😉 Of course aespa are amazing singers and dancers. They are SM artists after all. It's what SM has become known for.
To help you understand aespa better as a group and to explain a little more about what is happening in their MVs, I think, if you haven't already, you need to watch aespa's new "aespa 'ep1. Black Mamba' - SM Culture Universe" video that was recently released. It's the first episode of aespa's drama and it explains in more detail about aespa's storyline. As with everything that SM does, aespa is much more than just a singing group. They have a whole story that is more like a movie or an epic novel and everything they do is connected.
aespa is a four member girl group whose concept revolves around the fact that their name means "avatar experience" and each of the girls has an avatar character -- as you see with their animated characters and scenes -- so they also are superhero-like beings, just like EXO and the members of SuperM. Which makes me pretty confident that SM is working on pulling aespa into SuperM's/EXO's storyline and making them part of the whole group concept, just like all of its third gen groups.
And just like EXO, the members of aespa all have their own powers and symbols that represent them:
💓Karina (Yoo JiMin) is the leader of the group, she is a main dancer and lead rapper: her symbol is a heart and her spirit animal is a whale. She is Korean.
🌕Giselle (Uchinaga Aeri) is the main rapper and a vocalist: her symbol is the moon and her spirit animal is a unicorn. She is Japanese.
⭐Winter (Kim MinJeong) is a lead dancer, lead vocalist and the visual of the group: her symbol is a star and her spirit animal is a Siberian Husky dog. She is Korean
🦋NingNing (Níng Yìzhuo) is the maknae and the main vocalist: her symbol is a butterfly and her spirit animal is a tiger. She is Chinese.
So, if you pay attention to the lyrics in "Black Mamba" you will see that it is telling aespa's story. The Black Mamba (represented by the snake) they refer to in the song is a dark force that stops them from connecting to their avatars. As the lyrics say, they "synk out," etc. and you see all the glitches happening. The aspea members are trying to overcome the Black Mamba and connect with their avatars again. You really have to pay attention to the lyrics to understand the story they are telling.
The way I see it is there are two dimensions: aespa in the real world and their avatars (Kwangya) world. Aespa are connected to their avatars and everything the aespa members do in real life gives power to their avatars. However, because of the Black Mamba's temptation, aespa and their avatars cannot connect through the SYNK app anymore, so their avatars become lost. In "Black Mamba" you see Ningning as she is searching through the Kwangya world on her computer trying to find their avatars. Ningning and the other members are wandering through the avatar Kwangya realm. But there seems to be some sort of crossover between realms as well. For example, in the train scene in "Black Mamba", aespa in the real world is also being overcome by the Black Mamba. Their world seems to be in ruins or being destroyed. In the last scene of "Black Mamba", the avatars seem to be drawn into aespa's real world and I think this is really the start of aespa's whole story. This is where they establish the fact that aspea, from now on, probably, will be spending a majority of their storyline fighting the Black Mamba alongside their avatars.
To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you first need to keep in mind that it all began with EXO's concept. If you follow EXO's storyline than you know that EXO are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc.
Some theories even believe that Red Velvet is connected to EXO's storyline. Some think that Red Velvet, EXO's sister group, could be the Red Force.
As you also may know, SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019 and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai -- who are members of EXO -- have recruited members from SM Entertainment's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force.
It is said that the concept for SuperM is supposed to be like the Avengers, so, I see it as each of the members are a different kind of superhero that make up the larger "Avengers" group, just like how the Marvel Avenger members come together from all walks of life with all different abilities and powers, etc. to make up one big supergroup.
And If the SuperM Avengers are coming together to help EXO stop the Red Force, I think the members who are part of SuperM are the liaisons who are helping to connect all the groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- together.
Also, just like how the Marvel Avengers come together to combine their strengths and powers to help fight Thanos, I see parallels with what SM is doing with SuperM's storyline. SuperM is taking the "best" members from each group and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight.
Theories have also speculated that NCT's/WayV's dream concept and storyline also connects to EXO's storyline. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state, which could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories.
Now, to explain how aespa is connected to the story. aespa debuted in November.
I am also starting to wonder if maybe aespa has something to do with the Tree of Life, because, if you watch aespa's next MV for their song "Next Level" if you pay attention toward the end of "Next Level," you see aespa and their avatars with what looks like the mother tree from the Hollywood movie "Avatar," so I wonder if maybe aespa have been the ones tasked with protecting the Tree of Life and maybe that is what the Black Mamba is after.
aespa was first introduced to the world in a teaser at the end of SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV last year -- about a week or so before aespa's debut. In the last scene of the "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, we see Taemin with an LG phone and on the phone screen there is a symbol that appears. At the time, when that MV was released, we had no idea what that meant. However, soon after that, we discovered that the symbol you see on Taemin's phone -- ae -- is the logo/symbol for aespa. So, on top of being a teaser for aespa's debut, I think by making aespa a part of SuperM's MV, this was SM's way of establishing aespa's connection to SuperM's/EXO's storyline.
Will aespa eventually join forces with EXO to defeat evil or will the Black Mamba gain control and cause aespa to team up with (Red Velvet?) and become members of the Red Force? We will just have to wait to see how SM connects the dots and draws the storylines together. But I have a feeling that, eventually, aespa's story will connect to SuperM's story, and, along the way, also EXO, NCT and Red Velvet's storyline, and maybe Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. (Even though SHINee are a second generation group, the members actually fit within the age range of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen.)
aespa's story is just another one of SM's epic concepts and mysteries that we will have to wait and see where it takes us.
