    So my single neighbor died alone in his apartment in July, and he didnt like to use the ac unit. It was about four days afterwards that we started to smell the decomp smell, and there was a breezeway between our apartments THANK GOD. When the county coroner came for removal, he had been in there almost a week and a half. It was bad. The coroner told the cops he was, "definitely a double bagger" the landlord left the unit vacant for months. They had to replace the floors and walls. That smell is so unique, and once you've smelled it, you'll never forget. It makes ripe roadkill smell like a glade plug-in. The fact that she lived with that smell, and you know she smelled like death herself. It's crazy, not to mention absolutely disgusting.

I went in her room to say goodbye to this lovely sassy funny darling old lady and the smell hit me so hard I staggered out the door and into the hallway. These two detectives did a masterful job of laying out the case to Penny Pospisil and gave her absolutely no way to plausibly explain what happened to Anthony. I love how they built the timeline and gave her no way to reasonably explain away her involvement. They had all the receipts from corroborating witnesses to purchases made.

    • @QuartzieK
      @QuartzieK Рік тому +5

      @@JustadonkeyI will not speak to any police without a lawyer present. Whether I’m a witness or a suspect. That is my right and lawyers know the law and can help you avoid the usual cop tricks. It doesn’t automatically mean someone doesn’t answer questions… it means the lawyer counsels you to make sure your answers don’t end up getting you in trouble. Innocent or not… plenty of innocent people have spent decades in jail, only to be released later once the evidence could prove their innocence.
      With all that being said, it’s truly flabbergasting to me that these guilty people (like this person and others in different interrogation vids) talk to the police without a lawyer 🤯 even after they’re read their rights!
      Anyone who has watched a law and order type show before has heard the Miranda Rights read, so people think they understand them, but it’s so clear they don’t. That’s why public defenders exist. To make sure everyone has access to a lawyer. Sadly, people rarely use them when they need them. Getting a lawyer doesn’t make someone look guilty, it makes them look smart. (And remember, a lot of guilty people don’t even lawyer up!)

    For anybody who has walked their dog off the beaten path, along river beds, in any unkept environment, they most likely will encounter the smell of carrion. I remember the first time I walked my my Hungarian Pointer along a river that became his favorite place. When we got back in the car, a horrific odor was immediately evident. Not knowing what it was, but realizing it was coming from the dog, I put him out because we were only about 3-4 minutes from home and he would return. Even a good bath didn't quite do the job. I came to realize that on these long walks, he would discover the remains of dead animals, birds, etc. and take great pleasure in rolling in them. The smell of rotting flesh is unmistakable; there is nothing like it. I cannot imagine how so many neighbors of this woman were unable to identify it!

    The way she handled the aftermath of the murder was of a piece with this interview. Denial.
    She was obviously going to be caught...just leaving a body in a trailer, and then leaving the trailer in a park. She must have just said to herself "No, I'm not going to be arrested"
    Perhaps after she was she said "no I'm not in jail. No. I'm not."
    I wonder what the defense was during the trial.

    21:04 “yes it WAS.” She keeps speaking of him in the past tense. Now with her saying they’re no longer together that is relatively understandable in some context. But when seeing a random picture of him, to say “yes it was” is extremely concerning.
    Edit: 21:52 well it didn’t take long for them to point that one out.

      Yeah I mean there are definitely very good detectives that will solve 20-year-old cold cases without DNA evidence, but they're definitely the exception. I think in this case the real skill is just the level of emotional control it takes to not start laughing or screaming in anger and disgust at someone like this. Personally, I think I would be laughing, shouting, and dry heaving if she tried to pass off this delusionally stupid story. In 5 minutes, she managed to completely contradict herself multiple times...it seems like she didn't even sit down and try to think of a good story before getting caught. I'm impressed with their interrogation skills, but the detective work wasn't really too difficult in this case
