I worked in a continuing care facility.....a woman died in the night and when I got to work at 6 am she was still in her room...staff couldnt get hold of a doctor to pronounce her dead until close to noon. I went in her room to say goodbye to this lovely sassy funny darling old lady and the smell hit me so hard I staggered out the door and into the hallway. It is impossible to describe the smell of a decomposing human body...the room was vacant for weeks because the poor cleaning staff couldnt get the smell out
I wonder if Penny stunk like a corpse in the interrogation room. I worked in the medical field for a few years. I took care of patients who eventually passed away. The deceased patient's bodies were taken to the morgue within a few hours. Thank goodness I never had to smell a decomposing body. I could smell patients who had cancer. @teresareynolds4364 I can't imagine that. It makes me sick and where I live we have lots of hunting and road kill so u get used to smells but not death there isn't getting used to that smell
It drove me crazy for the longest time when my little grandson started talking and kept saying what sounded like this woman's last name.... I finally figured out He wanted a Popsicle.
When they showed her a picture of Anthony and asks if it’s him, and she says “Yes it was” - I audibly gasped and then laughed at how terribly she lied to cover that up! What an evil human being.
I said omg she just said was!! But the trying to explain it, well he lost a lot of weight....yeah cause you cut him up. Can't believe she thought she could talk her way out!! I've seen kids spin better lies.
Yeah, her quick thinking "He's lost a lot of weight since that picture" was pretty ironic lol. She in multiple points referred to him in the past tense, and probably didn't realize she was (she didn't bother walking them back).
Somebody has made a huge effort with the subtitling here. It’s very labor intensive and really hard with a blurry soundtrack like this. Got most of it. Well done!
I work while I listen to these, so I can’t read it. This woman is such a low talking mumbler, I can’t hear her over my typing. I caught a little here and there.
Yeah it must be sooooo hard to sit in comfortable chair and properly have a snack typing and editing a video !! So sad 😢 it’s almost like slavery !! Lmao you’re unbelievably spoiled
I was thinking the same thing. Great work! I'm sick of the bot generated subtitles that get so much wrong when you can actually clearly hear the person say something totally different. This one should be the standard to aspire to!
Don't be so quick to believe she said that. I was scammed by a neighbor for $1600, am disabled. Detective asked why I just didn't call the police. I can't breathe very well, git was standing over me. Come to find out I was sick with pneumonia and sepsis and not in any condition to do anything. I despise that SO.
I used to work for a police department and this one time the detectives brought just some clothes from off a deceased person. He had been expired for some time and it was a hot summer. Those clothes weren’t in the building more than maybe 15 minutes and we all asked for them to be removed because we couldn’t even breathe. Its that bad.
I’ve never smelled a dead body… I’ve only been around people that just died and are taken within hours. I’ve always wondered what the smell is like cause people say it’s a certain smell

But when I FIRST go down after not being for a while....I get knocked back from the smell. Then I take out the garbage :) I don't know how the body and mind adjust to a smell...but they do. @@markmike7933 mark!! Take out the garbage! 😂😂😂 Yeah, it happens. I don’t notice my cats litter box but i know other people do. I make myself clean it every day.
Really? I found them frustrating, they gave her way to many chances to wriggle out of it. If she’d taken the bait, it would have made the crime much harder to prosecute for the DA.
Ummm absolutely not … rhey had enough forensic evidence and circumstantial evidence without her talking at all … they knew exactly what they were doing. Sorry but you’re missing the things that go into the mindset of why these detectives are handling the interrogation / interview in such a way . They already had the answers before she walked in . They’d have had no issues prosecuting her at all. The evidence was overwhelming with or without her statements to them. ( Not trying to be rude in my saying that. I hope it doesn’t come across that way. In any event, I apologize if so. Take care )
You KNOW a person is a real evil PoS if they say they have stage 3 colon and kidney cancer and you just have ZERO sympathy or compassion for them. At all.
I totally agree. I am so tired of that being used all the time, these women are so low rent, little to no education, dumb as a box of nails or are obsessed with their looks shallow and usually after money. Many women under the age of 40 or so have lost all class and any type of femininity and if they believe it is empowering ,they are sorely mistaken.
@@WilliamTaylorIIIsometimes, yeah but people who _are_ in fact smarter than the detectives usually go down too - the power and information imbalance is extremely difficult to overcome if the police have reasonably solid evidence against the subject
I have no idea what a dead body smells like but I once forgot I had potatoes in the cupboard and found them a few weeks later while cleaning it out because I could smell something bad and I was trying to find out what it was, there were tin cans in front of the potatoes so they were hidden. Believe me, that smell of rotten potatoes was so bad it made me sick and I felt like I couldn't get the smell out of my nose or my cupboard for a while. I can't even IMAGINE living with the smell of a dead body for months while it's just rotting away and not be bothered by it. And her smug face and righteous attitude at the beginning of this video is infuriating, she hadn't said but a few words and she was already on my nerves, acting all high and mighty as if she wasn't an evil POS who killed someone and lived with their dead body for several months. This woman is unbelievable.
It's so bad most people I would think would know right away that it's Decomp from a human. The smell gets on you and in your nose. You can be around dead bodies and hours later still smell it bc it clings to you.
As students we had an experiment where we were asked to isolate certain bacteria from potatoes that had been in an incubator at body temperature for 3 days. Electrical engineering department were one floor below us and I don't believe they ever expected to be subjected to foul odours when they signed up for their courses. Absolutely horrendous smell.😮
Its a rotton chicken sweet smell make you gag instantly i had just gone to the morgue as part of nursing school and was in stop and go traffic by a toll booth and made the mistake of telling the toll booth person it smelled like decomp about a mile back . I was shortly stopped by a NYPD asking wht i meant i pointed out spot they found a still unidentied toddler in a cooler
The human mind is incredibly powerful; not only did she dismember his body and leave it where it was, she also must have been able to totally block out the smell, or internally rationalize it as NOT a rotting corpse 20 feet away from her.. and when shown the picture of Anthony's remains, her only reaction/response was that it didn't look like her RV. If only the mind blocked out the thoughts that lead to her actions, instead of blocking out her responsibility after the fact. RIP Anthony.
She probably thinks men can be women & vv, too. All of society is being conditioned to believe that whatever they want to imagine is fact, is fact. Btw, Did you know that the economy is doing great?😃
@@Hayotowin The fact that you brought up such a completely unrelated right-wing dogwhistle on a video about a murder is, I'm gonna be honest, more indicative of how your brain works than anybody else's. Best of luck.
These two detectives did a masterful job of laying out the case to Penny Pospisil and gave her absolutely no way to plausibly explain what happened to Anthony. I love how they built the timeline and gave her no way to reasonably explain away her involvement. They had all the receipts from corroborating witnesses to purchases made.
@@Jerharris90Definitely, Its kind of hard to conduct an investigation if every single witness lawyered up just to be safe... Maybe if you are entirely self interested it would be prudent to always immediately ask for an attorney but for the rest of us who give a damn about helping see justice be done it's a noble sacrifice to make in the pursuit of the greater good.
@@JustadonkeyI will not speak to any police without a lawyer present. Whether I’m a witness or a suspect. That is my right and lawyers know the law and can help you avoid the usual cop tricks. It doesn’t automatically mean someone doesn’t answer questions… it means the lawyer counsels you to make sure your answers don’t end up getting you in trouble. Innocent or not… plenty of innocent people have spent decades in jail, only to be released later once the evidence could prove their innocence. With all that being said, it’s truly flabbergasting to me that these guilty people (like this person and others in different interrogation vids) talk to the police without a lawyer 🤯 even after they’re read their rights! Anyone who has watched a law and order type show before has heard the Miranda Rights read, so people think they understand them, but it’s so clear they don’t. That’s why public defenders exist. To make sure everyone has access to a lawyer. Sadly, people rarely use them when they need them. Getting a lawyer doesn’t make someone look guilty, it makes them look smart. (And remember, a lot of guilty people don’t even lawyer up!)

unfortunately I think these compulsive liars often get away with their lies in day today life with many people they encounter ...but NOT in this situation
She spent all that time to dismember him and buying chemicals but no effort to hide anything! Not his body or bother cleaning up the tools that still had pieces of him on them. Then lived with it 🤮 ugh nasty little elf
This is just crazy. That woman is insane. She basically did everything she possibly could to scream, "ME! It was me! Look over here! I DID IT!". It's hard to grasp that not only are so many ppl capable of this but actually do this, often.
the guy on the left keeps blowing into his hands, he def smells death on her … they lean in and both have to back up💀 rip to Anthony and im sorry to his loved ones. no one deserves this.
@DONNELLO this lady loved with the body from the end of August, until almost Christmas. Everything she owns is saturated with the smell of death, including her clothes and shoes. That doesn't come out with 2-3 weeks of washing.
Just think, there is real cases of women out there suffering from the abuse of their spouse, and to scared of the consequence's to report them to authorities. Then there is this wood elf, happily lying to detectives and the family of her disabled and now dead Ex. And what the hell happened to her husband that died in 2001. This thing belongs life with no parole.
Must say, these two very controlled detectives are better people than I could've been. No way would I have been able to listen to the unbelievable, constant lies this horrible thing was telling!!! Makes me happy she got life in prison!!! It's well deserved in her case!!!
Unreal how sick and cruel some people are in this world. Its always shocking and terrifying and sickening no matter how many other cases like this Ive seen in the past. It happens way more often then most people realize.
To be fair when 2 people are talking to me I have to look back and forth between them. Im afraid one of them will thank in ignoring them if I dont because eye contact is unnatural for me and kinda uncomfortable
I'll have to remember that next time I saw up a body in my trailer !! just look at the Blank Stare coming out of that evil ,,,,, ''see you next Tuesday ''s eyes . It's going to be some kind of chemical in the walls of those trailer homes when they build them that drives these people insane
@@steph678 I'm pretty much the same. Eye contact being unnatural and uncomfortable I do feel like every time I do it's so obvious and weird 😆☺️ The waynthisnwoman is doing it is just so ridiculous though...
Wow she is unbelievable. I just wish I had more volume in the beginning but kudos to putting this together was well as you did. Glad she will never see the light of day outside of a prison.
I once accidentally left a chicken defrosting in a microwave and then went away for a week (we were meant to take the chicken with us) When we got back, the house reeked. It wasnt a smell thats comparable to anything I've ever smelt before or since. If thats how bad a chicken was, I can only imagine how much worse a whole human was. It seems to permeate your clothes, wood furniture, soft furnishings... It tooks weeks and weeks to get the smell out the house. To live in that, thats a whole new level of delusion.
I've worked for several funeral homes in Florida and would pick up loved ones that hadn't been discovered for different periods of time but In ALL cases even when the air conditioning was on the coolest setting the decomp smell permeates into EVERYTHING even electronics and will draw flies which end up being seen in windows dead and alive at different stages of gestation and Hazmat Clean up Crews have to be called in. My point is I could not LIVE with the smell. Working in certain conditions with a respirator was NOT living and breathing those gases for extended periods of time! I don't know how anyone could, it would be in any clothing they would have to wear, even a running refrigerator would be affected.
I wonder how her first husband died? Hmmm.... Is she the type of predator to go after disabled people to use and abuse them? I'm getting that vibe. How could you be so callous? Absolutely horrible
Well, they prob. Don’t even have to exhume his body.. they need only go look in the last place she lived and maybe it’s still there … I CANNOT BELIEVE SHE LITERALLY LIVED WITH A DECAYED body for FOUR FREAKING MONTHS… law enforcement could hire her to handle the scenes that make them throw up just catching a whiff down wind 500ft away … Its disturbing
She was so full of it - I was wondering if anyone could tell me if she was also lying about her stage 3 cancer ….? I’m just sincerely hoping that she’s around to serve her full sentence …. Btw - thankyou for letting me know ! xx
I was wondering that too. I can’t find anything about her having cancer in all the articles about her sentencing? So I’m guessing that means that she doesn’t. Do you think they would mention that with all the crazy parts of this case?
When she said she felt that she needed a lawyer the second detective very smoothly slid more questions in. She never actually said she wanted a lawyer and would not answer any more questions, so they were able to skillfully continue.😊
Currently scrolling through the comments to see if anyone posted an update about this vaca really having cancer or not. Glad I'm not the only one who didn't believe her. Also yes, I agree that you gotta be a whole different level kind of evil when you claim you've got cancer and there is zero sympathy or empathy. Yikes.
What is with that incredulous little snort/laugh she does after half her statements?! Is she hoping they'll believe her if she acts like that?! Its making me so mad! What a horrid story. I hope she rots in prison.
Interesting , I’ve never seen an interrogator linger at the door like that. Look up at the ceiling. I feel for him. He’s probably fairly close to retirement and can’t find any way to understand how people can be this evil. That was unusual. Of course he was hoping that, now that “bad cop” had left the room , that she might at least divulge *something* to help him make sense of it. He looked freaked out to be *that* close to evil.
I think it probably stunk so bad. No way she wasn’t walking around carrying that smell if she was living with that for months. You can see him lean in and out and breathe into his hands a bunch. It’s definitely stanky in there.
He lingered by the door bc she smelled like 4 month old decomposed body … just keep in mind they had to smell that… heck , even folks they talked to on the phone could smell it.
For anybody who has walked their dog off the beaten path, along river beds, in any unkept environment, they most likely will encounter the smell of carrion. I remember the first time I walked my my Hungarian Pointer along a river that became his favorite place. When we got back in the car, a horrific odor was immediately evident. Not knowing what it was, but realizing it was coming from the dog, I put him out because we were only about 3-4 minutes from home and he would return. Even a good bath didn't quite do the job. I came to realize that on these long walks, he would discover the remains of dead animals, birds, etc. and take great pleasure in rolling in them. The smell of rotting flesh is unmistakable; there is nothing like it. I cannot imagine how so many neighbors of this woman were unable to identify it!
Ugh I HATE when they roll in it! Especially putrified fish on a river bank. I have to eagle eye my dog cuz we have tons of cattle, and she just loves rubbing her neck and face in that cow crap! Not as bad as something dead, but still stinky.
She really underestimated all of the kind people who she repeatedly lied to throughout this whole ordeal, thinking to herself "I've really fooled all these dumb people", like she could just carry on her happy ass way after doing what she did, but really what she underestimated was her own blatant stupidity. She must have gone through so many different relationships and trailer parks full of people in her life to keep running from all the lies that she forgets to remember, what a sick and terrible story.
She’s pulling a Jodi Arias. Denying she could ever hurt him that way. Lying, thinking that if she says it often enough, somebody might actually believe her. And when that doesn’t work she decides that she’s going to blacken his name and try to take it off of her.
This woman is emotionless and soullesss. The way she responds to questions is unsettling. The detectives are also very serious. Usually detectives try to build repor with people, but understandably their using a different tactic.
You’d think she’d have at least bought a freezer to put his body into & avoid the smell of a rotting corpse. Doesn’t she have a sense of smell, maybe not & that’s why she just let him rot in the trailer while she lived there.
The way she handled the aftermath of the murder was of a piece with this interview. Denial. She was obviously going to be caught...just leaving a body in a trailer, and then leaving the trailer in a park. She must have just said to herself "No, I'm not going to be arrested" Perhaps after she was she said "no I'm not in jail. No. I'm not." I wonder what the defense was during the trial.
She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and two other charges related to her dismemberment of the body. She offered no defense. Her interrogation here was just BS, a bluff.
21:04 “yes it WAS.” She keeps speaking of him in the past tense. Now with her saying they’re no longer together that is relatively understandable in some context. But when seeing a random picture of him, to say “yes it was” is extremely concerning. Edit: 21:52 well it didn’t take long for them to point that one out.
this woman was probably a nightmare to live with. she's probably been doing harm her whole life and covered it up with I don't know never happened don't believe it until she was finally caught.
Very intelligent, to place the chair right in the corner of the room is another tactic for the detectives to put pressure and stare right in ur eyes. Its a true definition of being cornered, back against the wall.
I love when folks see and interrogation like this and think, "damn those cops are so impressive". She was caught with a butched body in her trailer along with the tools, which she didn't even clean, that were used to kill him. A child with one of those novelty badges could have locked her up given all that evidence. 😂
Yeah I mean there are definitely very good detectives that will solve 20-year-old cold cases without DNA evidence, but they're definitely the exception. I think in this case the real skill is just the level of emotional control it takes to not start laughing or screaming in anger and disgust at someone like this. Personally, I think I would be laughing, shouting, and dry heaving if she tried to pass off this delusionally stupid story. In 5 minutes, she managed to completely contradict herself multiple times...it seems like she didn't even sit down and try to think of a good story before getting caught. I'm impressed with their interrogation skills, but the detective work wasn't really too difficult in this case

Whenever I see this comment I wonder about it. Yes, lawyer up if you are innocent, but I love when the guilty don't. I don't want everyone to lawyer up.
It's similar, but there's a lot of layers to human decomp smells. And rotten potatoes can get pretty unholy.
It's so bad most people I would think would know right away that it's Decomp from a human. The smell gets on you and in your nose. You can be around dead bodies and hours later still smell it bc it clings to you.
It's almost a putrid sweet sickly smell that makes you gag instantly 😅

This woman seems so insane I'm surprised she didn't Try To consume The body To get rid of The evidence because she seems like somebody crazy enough and sick enough To do ThaT!!! Prayers To ThaT man's friends and family and him
"I want a lawyer" - proceeds to talk to detectives for another hour 😕
😂😂
Stranger stories drops new content and I am IMMEDIATELY on scene
I'm just her to see all the hot chicks 😆 .... how come all you hotties are so into this true crime stuff ?
@@Stevros999 Don't know the answer to that but i found out why you're single!
@@Stevros999stranger danger. I got secondhand embarrassment just from reading that.
Same here!!
@@Stevros999weirdo😭
Omg! I think my Advanced Crime Scene/Investgations professor (who is also a CSI) worked on this case. She mentioned a case with these elements in one of our classes. It is so trippy to see this after hearing her explain it! Too cool!
That's pretty cool. Like hearing a song you love in public, I imagine.
Totally! I'm not happy that this woman did this, but it is so crazy to actually see the interrogation footage and put a face to it. I'm a total nerd lol
Let's remember, though, that there's a dead person's family grieving on the other end of this.
@@letolethe3344 well, I hope, if they see this, that they might be able to understand that I am passionate about forensics. I'm attempting to make it my career. So that I can dedicate my time & energy to helping collect evidence and documenting crime scenes as is so, that justice can be served. And that my professor is somebody I look up to. I also mentioned that I was not happy that she did this.
One of my family members was murdered due to domestic violence and the Internet was not kind to her to say the least. So while I understand your sentiment, I meant nothing negative by my comment.
@@nicripolas816Wtf? Comparing a brutal murder to hearing your fav song in public? Your comparison is more then worrisome.
I don’t know what the background noise is but it sounds like rain. A comfortable sound to me.
The way she looks at the detectives….
I want to thank you for mainly letting the interview play and not talking every 2 min like explore with us does I wish you could get some of the videos they have and play them the way this channel does thank you for your editing and time on these
That's funny cuz I actually like the constant interruptions w EWU lol
@@alyssamarie5377me too! It's usually interesting information.
What is up, ewu crew?
Why you gotta call them out like that. Don't explore with us then, lol.
I love EWU and their interruptions!
He was disabled, so he may have been getting disability money. Considering the state of the body, she could have claimed he died and she didn’t report it so she could continue collecting his disability pay. Be hard to prove otherwise.
Crazy to me that ANYONE keeps talking to detectives!
Remember the five little words, everyone: “shut up, then lawyer up!” 🤣
Whenever I see this comment I wonder about it. Yes, lawyer up if you are innocent, but I love when the guilty don't. I don't want everyone to lawyer up. Lawyers are willing to advise defendants to say anything to get them off or a reduced sentence, even if they still have blood on their hands. Thank God they don't. 😉
terrible liar, even on mute. way too much sustained eye contact - she's even seeking direct eye contact when neither detective is looking at her
She goes back to “it’s not my camper” but when told her son said she told him burned it down, she gestures to photo of r/v with Anthony’s body and says “well obviously not” -that didn’t burn down. So at that moment saying was her r/v.
