Welcome to the Vector club. They are really fun. I got mine last year. Never had one when I was a teen, but I worked at local computer commodore store and the boss had one in back for us to play during lunch brakes.
MineStorm is way more than just an astroids clone, gets very interesting the further you go. Even has an invisible level, # 32. The game's actual end is at level 89. It does freeze at level 13 sometimes but not always.
Note that later model Vectrex ROMS have a bug-fixed version of MineStorm where you can keep playing into the hundreds of levels (most are the same though). It really depends how lucky you get with the level 13 bug as to how long you can keep playing the game before an inevitable crash due to randomness. I'm guessing that Retro-or-Bust's has a newer ROM. It doesn't have "GCE Entertaining Enterprises" on the Vectrex boot screen.
I'm a sports freak. I think it's a real bummer that the Vectrex didn't have a lot of sports games, but the ones it DID have - Blitz!, Heads Up, Pole Position and Hyperchase - were fantastic.
I'd love to get a copy of Pole Position! 👍🏻 I know there's ways of getting carts with all the games on, like Pitrex etc but I'd love to own an original.
Despite having a limited library, there are some really cool games for the Vectrex (a quite a few stinkers). My favourites: MineStorm, Berzerk, Scramble, Cosmic Chasm, Web Warp, Fortress of Narzod, Clean Sweep, Starship (Star Trek), Bedlam... and while maybe a controversial choice I like Hyperchase (in Game 2 mode) more than Pole Position.
I'd love to find a copy of Pole Position but it seems to go for silly money 😞 Which is strange as I'd have thought that title would've sold well being a popular arcade game!
@@RetroOrBust All the official Vectrex games can be freely distributed on a non-for-profit basis, although I don't know about the cross-licensed ones like Pole Position. Seems like they go for a few hundred on ebay. Honestly I found the Vectrex version of PP rather dull because you can go at top speed around corners without braking. You just have to dodge the cars - which isn't all that hard.
The guy was asking £700 but as I lived a few miles away & could collect it that evening he let me have it for £550, including all the boxed complete games! Not bad as the Vectrex alone goes for around £500.
get a multicart or even better a PiTrex and you get all the Vectrex titles ever released plus play battlezone, star wars, tempest, etc demos and even faster version of berzerk
Hi, unfortunately you do not have the very best games (except cosmic chasm). Very best are: Cosmic chasm Web warp Fortress of Narzod Pole position (u.s.a) Best 2 players simultaneous: Star hawk Space wars Armor attack (you got)
A few years back one sold the day after Christmas on ebay with 15 unboxed games with overlays. I didn't bid as l already had 2 (one now bucked unfortunately), and thought the missus might hit me. It went for £115. I still kick myself!
I got this when it first came out, my mum who isn't here any more managed up to level 125 on mine storm....yep she was hooked 😊

You need to get a pitrex now and really get some enjoyment out of your Vectrex
*I think getting the Holy Grail is now easier than getting a Vectrex*
....or the lost Ark! 😂

I just bought a fully working one for £134!!!
Nice one! That's a bargain! Check out Vectrex fans unite on Facebook. There's loads of homebrew stuff & custom controllers on there.
Hooray!

Looks really cool, I want one, but the price of these things, what did you pay if you don't mind me asking.👍👍👍

That's a great price! Not a bad idea checking eBay during a holiday. Might try that this year!
@@RetroOrBust For sure. Best of luck!
