I think we need to address the main reason why Necrozma isn't as bad: it's type. not dark or poison but psychic, which symbolizes that it's an alien. Necrozma isn't using dirty tricks or direct manipulation (it can use other's plan to it's advantage), it's fighting with honor. all it's doing is getting what it lost to greedy humans.

Just imagine necrozma as a broken lightbulb that lit up a room (the room stays lit despite the broken bulb). It now lost its light and feels like a husk of its former self, then it sees to other lightbulbs that shine almost just as bright as him. Ofc bro is going to want that light for himself.
