Sometimes I don’t have anything I want to write about and being able to just decorate the pages for later is relaxing and low pressure! Then, when I do want to write, the pages already look nice. It’s been a good process for me lately!
Grids all the way! I feel like the grids and the dots are most efficient way of using all the space on paper. Lines usually just take too much space for me.
These videos always give me good ideas for journaling even though I have yet to decorate. I have started journaling in cursive too, though, because one of my students writes in cursive and it sort of inspired me. It’s fun to practice!
As always, I enjoy your videos so much, Lauren! Today I was inspired by your larger washi/sticker collage spots---I predecorate my pages sometimes, but I usually just do the corners because I value the writing space! However, I love the way your pages look so I will venture into the center of my pages next time to see how that flows. It's lovely to see and share different styles, I think! Thank you!
Aww, thank you! I still write a lot, I just fill up the pages faster (and move onto writing on the next) when there are more decorations on a specific page. With these Tomoe River Paper journals, there are so many pages to fill, so it works out for me.
I sure wish i could find the jaffe cover that you have; cant seem to find any even in the FB CS BST groups; but anyway - love the video and the pre planning of the decorated pages is a great idea.
Aww yeah, Jaffe retired earlier this year so it would have to be used unless they bring it back someday. I waited probably six months before I managed to snag an Outlander Claire Chic Sparrow in a BST group (which was a leather I had missed when it was available), hard to know what people will sell next.
Jaffe alert! Chic Sparrow just posted a few in their overstock sale along with a bunch of other retired designs and leathers. You can use my commission code “laurenfairweather” for 10% off but I think there’s a birthday sale code on the site for even more at the moment!
Gorgeous journal! Those floral stickers are so cute, I might have to get some myself! And I'm glad to see other people enjoying cursive as well. They forced us to write that way for about a year or so back when I was in school, and it ended up sticking with me. My thoughts kinda fly by, so I find writing in cursive is much more efficient once you know how to do it. Super effective for taking notes too!
Thank you! For a long time, I wrote in cursive really slowly so aside from it being pretty, I didn’t get the smoothness/speed aspect. Now I totally get it though! Especially with fountain pens.
Hi there, I recently found you and love your videos..... I’m in the North of England and at 70 am probably one of your older viewers! I love how you decorate your pages and looked to buy the washi tapes only to find that the shipping for two washis to the UK is 52 dollars......😫so maybe not ! But using European and Japanese supplies I can use your pages for inspiration...... All good stuff 👍💙😀
I’m so glad you found my channel! Thank you for leaving such lovely, thoughtful comments. Sorry about those shipping costs - that’s a lot! I’m sure there are some beautiful ones within reach for you though.
Those are really beautiful washi tapes! I have plain washi tape I used to use for marking violin finger positions, but I've never had any patterned washi tape or used it for decorative purposes. If I come across some, I may be tempted to pick up a roll or two! But not any time soon- I sorta blew my budget last week buying not one, but two glass dip pen sets! The first already arrived, it's dichroic glass and SO pretty. It came with 12 glitter inks, so I ended up making a swatch page after all, lol. In school I never HAD to write cursive, but every so often I would try to write really pretty and I'd use cursive for that. The rest of the time, my writing was so sloppy, that was probably the most common comment my teacher wrote on my work. Since becoming an adult and a teacher myself, I've definitely practiced a neater print, but like you, I've kind of gravitated towards writing exclusively in cursive in my journals. It just feels smoother, more relaxing. Maybe it's because fountain pens & cursive kinda evolved together? So writing with a fountain pen encourages cursive? I don't know, but I enjoy it.
Hope you enjoy this chill journaling video! Here is where you can find Baum-Kuchen's original illustrated washi tapes that I used a lot on these pages: www.baum-kuchen.net/search?q=bk+tape (I used Studio Vibes, Satellite, Morse Code, and Nap Village in this video.)
I loooove the idea of decorating pages ahead of time - I struggle with journalling regularly and I feel like this would help a LOT

YESSS TO FLORAL STICKERS! Lovely video, friend!
Yes!! My favorite. Thanks, Job! 💕
I need to purchase bk washi, I always end up buying charms and forgetting the washi! thank you for sharing your process, this was such a joy to watch!
Their charms are the best!! They have so many good things. I’m saving up for a Truly Yours TN customization at the moment!
I really enjoyed this video! I didn’t realize I have met you before (briefly at a convention) until the very end of the video. Glad to see you again!
Aw, how cool! Hello!! 👋🏻 This is my second channel just for journaling videos, heh.
Grids all the way! I feel like the grids and the dots are most efficient way of using all the space on paper. Lines usually just take too much space for me.
That makes a lot of sense!

Yay! Happy to share ideas. I love watching videos like this, so it’s been fun to make them and chat with folks about the things we have in common.
Love your set ups. So much fun. I love that RO ink as well. It reminds me a lot of Taccia Ume Muresaki🌸
Love your videos! New subscriber here. I like to watch you journal and decorate, while I journal along with you.
Aww yay, I’m glad that you found my channel! Thank you so much for leaving a nice comment. I like to journal while I watch youtube videos too!
Lovely deco and journaling!
Thank you! 💕

Loving all the stickers and washi, this is something I may have to try.
I definitely prefer writing on dot grid or grid paper.
Thank you! Before I started doing this, I barely used my supplies and this way, I get to enjoy them much more.

Oh wow, those glass dip pens sound beautiful! That makes a lot of sense, what you said about fountain pens and cursive. That’s been my experience too!
Love the clip where did you get that at? ❤
