Doubt theres a chance you'll ever read this, but jimblycakes has a youtube account! No clue if its still active, the latest comment I could find was from 6 years ago.
Fun video I never expected to get made. I actually got to play Rango The World when it came out. It was just so surreal I couldn't resist. I maxed out my house and had a pretty extensive wardrobe. Even invited other players to visit it. The mod team was super friendly. I quit after they took all the hats I earned away and put them behind a paywall.
Fun Fact: For Rango, instead of recording voice-overs in booths, with every actor isolated from everyone else, most of the voice-over work was recorded on a set, with the actors voicing their characters while performing with their fellow cast members. This enabled the performers to follow the rhythms of their co-stars, while also giving them room for improvisation.
"Club Penguin didn't really advertise to kids, which is what made it the best one." Fun fact, that's literally one of the game's founding principles! A safe world for kids, without in-your face advertising.
Which is ironic because I remembered when I stop playing club penguin because Disney started to use it solely to advertise Disney movies and shows in its final years
I genuinely like the idea of videos like these inbetween bigger more complex animation related ones. They even let sponsor feel more at home than they would in tutorial videos
It may result in a bit of a split audience, I imagine having a good deal of your audience only interested in tutorials not watching the smaller uploads may damage your reach and discovery although I'm not an expert in optimization or anything
Rango is my mom's favorite movie. I've probably watched it a hundred times. My mom secretly loves old Westerns and this is the way she can watch it without ruining the idea that she hates them. The only game she ever liked was red dead, so I think if Rango was like read dead she would definitely play that.
This man says “The World” more than DIO. In all seriousness, I remember playing a fair few of those browser MMOs when I was younger. Oh boy, the nostalgia is real.
People passionately talking about their random niche interests has recently become one if my favourite types of videos to watch. Each one a new rabbit hole to discover.
I remember my grandma took me to a Redbox as a kid to rent a movie and she suggested Rango, but kid me was a bit spooked by the way Rango looked on the cover. I think the sheer amount of detail looked uncanny to me at that age. But now that my frontal lobe has fully grown in, I think I'll put Rango on my movie watchlist.
Yeah. Especially since it's one of the only super realistic graphics that don't look offputting or 'creepy' to me. The realism fits the aesthetic a lot.
I actually did play this as a kid years ago and it just popped into my head while watching Rango today. I looked it up to see if anyone else remembers it and that’s what brought me to the video.
What a beautiful video! Sometimes you dont need a world shattering revelation as the point of you mwking a video. Sometimes you can just make a video about a subject you think is silly. And thats wonderful. Also your sponsor really hit the nail on the head with what your target audience would enjoy bc i am DEFINITELY going to check out the link to those metal prints, even if i cant afford it in the end.
I loved rango, I remember it being one of my favourite movies and then eventually thought it was me being a kid so I stoped saying it was one of my favourites. The rewatched it and no it was just that good.
i find it fascinating how such a silly topic still kept me engaged throughout the whole video. It makes me curious if this will spark some sort of movement to find more regarding this game or go as far as rebuilding it. Only time will tell, another amazing video as always
I also remember there being another Rango flash game that was basically a level editor. I barely remember much about the game itself aside from the fact that I think you could jump infinitely for some reason.
I really like the look of the visuals of this game as it reminds me a lot of one of my favourite childhood games "Touch Detective" with the nicely illustrated backgrounds with semi-bold outlines and simple 3D characters. It's pretty much a forgotten point & click 3DS/mobile game as well as being very underrated and I really hope to find someone who could talk about it. I find both of the games' art styles very charming
LOL, I first thought this was about an actual 3D MMO with shooting combat in the Rango universe and got pissed that I missed out on it too. 0:58 But this is no shame to miss out on.
woah, a Millsberry mention in 2024?! can't believe how much time I spent as a kid on a marketing vehicle for General Mills products... but that hopping-on-gym-cushions game sure did have me in a chokehold
I never fully appreciated Rango when I was a kid, but I loved it so much. Now that I’m older, I truly believe that Rango is one of the most overlooked and underappreciated animated movies ever made. When was the last time a movie was being made with the actors playing out the scenes for the animators to take reference, and do it so smoothly and add final details to make it look so well made for it’s time? It held up so well to other animated films of the current decade. It really is one of the best movies ever until the end of time.
I would LOVE to see a video explaining the difference between the animation stages e.g. layout, blocking, in-betweens and polish! your videos are so high quality!!!
man, i really wish explorations of extremely niche online games / experiences was still a thing. i would kill for a breakdown of board game online or something similar
There's a shared human experience with old online games or lost media that I find really fascinating, like everyone chatting about a good memory. It's cool!
Wow, I never thought anyone would talk about this game, I remember playing it when I was younger, unfortunately I didn't know how to play it because it was in English and I wasn't a great player at the time
I agree. I remember having fond memories of reading “Rango: A Hero At Last” back at my old school. I loved the movie. After watching this video, I also went on the Wayback Machine to see if “Rango: The World” was there, but it couldn’t be found.
Rango is one of my favorite movies because of the villain and the hero. You got a Is a lizard lying to every person in the town. But then, at the end, it makes himself clear that he needed to use that 1 bullet to f*** Rattlesnake Jake and rattlesnake, Jake. Is a jackass
i actually remember playing this around when it came out, specifically on facebook! the hunger game one, too. i unfortunately dont think i got that far into the game before it shut down. the most i remember was customizing my character (and being a little upset u could only play as a lizard iirc) and talking to some npcs
I watched tango in my 3D animation class, i ended up making a bottle out of a teapot in class afterwards aswell cause we were recreating things from it
I def played this game a bit as a kid. I remember really liking the graphics and just being fascinated overall by the concept. I didn't play it very substantially, I only have sparing memories, but it makes me sad that it's completely lost media. I think my favorite part was probably walking around the world looking at everyone's custom chameleons. Again, I didn't play much. I also played the Rango DS game, which wasn't too bad, I enjoyed it.
This game getting shut down in 2014 suggests it outlived Lego Universe. Which is wild to me, as thats that one mmo I really wanted to play as a kid but never got a good chance at before it shut down.
I played the game back in the day. The only thing about it, I remember is that I met this one player, and we kept using the same 'safe chat' option with each other, as in we kept saying "Cowboy up or get back to the truck."
I have 2 questions 1. if you were to make a strong, muscular, juggernaut type character what would you call/name it, and what in your definition of juggernaut would it look like 2. Can you make a tutorial on certain effects in the "amazing digital circus" such as the wibbly physics and the jaw character eyes and such (this is not for me its for my brother who wants to make animations)
Rango is great! I bet I've watched it at least 20 times over the years; me and my family quote it all the time haha The DVD we have (or had) of it actually had an advert for the Wii game, but I've never seen this flash game before, very interesting!
I have seen so many Capcut Edits of Rango that Way Down We Go always has to be accompanied by "It only takes one Bullet" "You Aint got the nerve" "Try me."
Fun indeed to learn this since I didn't even realize this existed. However, I feel why the whole videogame tie in weren't a thing anymore might be due to the moblie market started around 2010 and was growing. So, a lot of companies tend to do a moblie game spin to the tie-in property since most last only a year. However, sometime, depending on the brand or game, it can surpass the movie and results in seeing the game becoming more intresting with its creativity with new content updates.
This game looks so great I would totally try a remake of it. Had I seen adverts for it I would've totally played it, I loved Rango and I was obsessed with these games and even dreamed of making my own as a kid. There's another children's online game I played that has absolutely no fan community or remake or private servers, and that is Kung Fu Panda World. I played it almost daily, got my sister and friends involved. I never logged back into my accounts I would always make a new one because I didn't understand the concept of owning an account and logging into it. Anyway, here comes 2015 and suddenly the webpage updates, no more Kung Fu Panda World, only Kung Fu Panda 3 adverts. And that was the end of my childhood. A few of the flash games still existed on random flash sites, but since then I haven't been able to find them. The death of flash has not made it easy. Very little footage of the game exists. If only I could play my beloved KFPW again. The soundtrack is ingrained in my brain.

“If you vandalize wikis, I’ll make sure your Wikipedia article turns past tense” is probably the hardest quote I’ve ever heard

Gotta say rango probably has got to have the best realistic graphics out of any movie I have seen (purely on realism of how it looks to real life)
ye
Yeah. Especially since it's one of the only super realistic graphics that don't look offputting or 'creepy' to me. The realism fits the aesthetic a lot.
it's not hyperrealism but it has a certain intentional ugliness to it that makes it feel more like these are real animals and not just disney cartoons
