- !!CUT THE POWER AND TURN OFF GAS BEFORE WORKING ON THE DRYER!! Basically was going to pay a repairman to come out $100... said, oh WAY WAY NO! tried a modified fix from another UA-cam video but different model and the video was looong. Enjoy, hope this helps.
If anyone would like to donate amd help me out, that would be appreciated. More videos to follow. My PayPal is shep78@gmail.com :)
Here are the part numbers that can usually be found on Amazon, lowes, or walmart.... even ebay.
The links expire (old video)
Thermal Fuse 3392519 (white) multimeter and the Thermistor 3976615 (black)
Our 16 year-old gas dryer, Whirlpool Duet, stopped working. When turned on, the sensing light came on, but no further. When we called the service tech, we were told that it might be the time to buy a new one, I then found this UA-cam video and showed it to my husband. He thought it was worth trying. It took two days to get a part and now it is drying our clothes just like before. Thank you so much!
$16.04 at my local appliance repair shop. He tested, and told me the white one was bad. The old dryer lives again. Thank you. !!!!
many of us dont have that option - that is incredible you do!! Great job on saving a lot of money :)
The (2) parts that Dan is referring to are a thermistor (the black one, although some replacements are white) and the thermal fuse (the white one). A defective thermistor is not responsible for a dryer not heating. It cycles the heater relay on and off to maintain the desired temperature. If this component becomes faulty, you will get codes on the machines display. No heat is almost always the white one or the thermal fuse. Part of the thermal fuse extends into the lint blower manifold (that it actually screws onto to) and if lint collects and heats up, the fuse will blow thus preventing a possible fire. Unfortunately, this fuse does not reset and once it breaks the filament inside, it must be replaced. This (and many other electronic parts) can be checked with a ohm meter or a continuity tester. MAKE SURE THE MACHINE IS UNPLUGGED. Any voltage left in a capacitor will come back to bite you! Better to replace a $8.00 part than to buy a new machine.
You helped this little lady out a lot with this video. Saved me hundreds and I get to brag to the hubby that I fixed the dryer all by myself! Thank you for sharing this it was so helpful
Great news!! I am very thankful I was able to help you. Congrats on the success!
This was exactly our dryer model and problem! It was the smaller fuse (the straight one on the left). I ordered a new on on Amazon for $10 and we’re back up and running again. Thanks for saving us $$$ in repair costs!
Glad I could help save you hundreds of dollars :)
THANK YOU!! $11.00 repair via Amazon. Replaced both the Thermal Fuse 3392519 (white) which I confirmed bad via multimeter and the Thermistor 3976615 (black) which tested ok but I replaced it anyway.
Thank you. Everyone here thanks you for giving us the actual parts information
Wow. Thank you. Instead of panning back and forth between the floor and a screw you gave valuable information
Thanks a million actually thanks 242$.. that's what the technician asked to repair it..after watching your video I did myself spending 10$on Amazon.👍
This fix worked perfectly on re-igniting the heat chamber. I can't thank you enough for posting this very helpful and easy solution!! You saved me time and $money not having a repairman to come out to fix or replace the dryer.
Just a heads up though - while it "fixes' the issue - the red light may still come on. Mine comes on I would say every 2 months or so - but I cant justify replacing the unit, the fix is too easy.
Just give a peak every night before you go to bed, so you;re not caught off gaurd
Had issues with motherboard (display acting odd) but the replacement kit included the white fuse you show in this video. I do recall other forums mentioning the white fuse as a key issue. Never used my "spare" fuse until it stopped heating years later. Popped it in and bingo. I think it is good to replace both if you have everything apart if it is only a few extra bucks, but if memory serves... the white one is the one to focus on. Thanks for taking the time to post. Looks like you have helped a lot of people!
Thank you Dan for the help. My Whirlpool Duet is even older then yours but uses the same set up. Sure enough, took sensor to local parts store and voila I was back up and running. $15 dollars as opposed to $1000 new dryer.
This is the second UA-cam repair I have done on this machine
Thank you so much. This saved me a couple of hundred dollars. Ordered the part on Amazon, changed it myself and voila, I can now dry the entire street's clothes!!
Can you please tell me the names of the parts you bought from
Amazon?
Thank you Dan. Like others replying, this video saved me a couple hundred dollars. I didn't order the parts though. Cleaned off the sensor on the diamond shaped component and re-assembled to see if it would fire-up. It did. So far so good. Thanks again, greatly appreciated.
Dude, you saved my vacation prep. I owe you. Parts came in two days. Easy peasy. Thanks man
Thank you very much, I was getting no heat so I searched vids and yours was the first to pop up, did what you said but up here in Canada these parts a 75$ for both, but it fixed the issue, again thank you for posting this vid saved me a lot of money and waiting for a repair tech to come out
Thank youu!! I bought the parts for $10 on eBay and a $10 ratchet set and I was able to change out the fuses and now my dryer works again! I was considering calling a repairman but thought I’d look on UA-cam first! Thanks for sharing your video!
Absolutely!! Great news - glad you saved some money and learned a little in the process :) Good luck to you
This was a huge help! Thank you! My husband just fixed the dryer and is definitely the household hero😁 Thank you so much for the help!
Glad to help - Nothing like saving a few hundred bucks :)
Another satisfied viewer. Saw your video 1 day and by the next dryer was back to normal, thanks to your video. Great job!
Thank you so much. My dryer stopped working days before Christmas and I really didn’t want to have to buy a new one. This fixed the problem for $70 and that was buying from a pricey parts store locally!
It helped me. My dryer is now rocking thanks to you. I got the things on Amazon next day and now works perfectly. Thank you
First and only video i needed! 15 bucks on amazon and 3 days later it was back to normal! Thank you for this video!
Do you have a link to those fuses?
I thank you so much for showing this to us! I have the exact same dryer and same problem. I was quoted a $109 visit/diagnostic and separate costs for parts and labor which will most likely reach $500 total which is almost the same price of a new dryer. I followed your instructions and found the replacement part from Amazon for 5 bucks!
Dryer Thermal Fuse
Part number 3392519
It’s the small white rectangular fuse you showed and that’s all I needed.
By doing this I also got the chance to clean up the inside of the dryer from years of lint and dust, lots of it, also found coins and two 5-dollar bills.
Once again, thank you so much!
great news - yes with the information out there; menial tasks like this no longer give an excuse for some shmo to make 100$ from us then charge 200$ on top of that. Let's share our knowledge and do it ourselves :)
Thank you! I’m not a repair woman but you helped me fix my same dryer!!!
Daniel, thanks for this video. It's exactly what you showed and $15 from Amazon. Parts will be here in 2 days.
Finally! Thanks so much for this video dude, I'm going to try fixing my dryer now!
Thanks man. For anyone else, the parts store said it will almost always be the small one. It goes bad due to poor ventilation.
thanks brother!!! you just fixed my dryer!!
Thank you so much Daniel for sharing this video. It helped me fix on my own my Whirlpool Duet dryer this weekend. I also discovered that you can test the fuses to see if they need to be replaced. Only one of mine needed to be replaced but it solved the problem. Again, thanks for sharing.
thanks a lot for this fix, it was definitely simple especially if I could get it done. Right away saved me at least up to a few hundred $.
Im doing research pre-fix but you basically covered all I needed to know before I start
let me know if you need any help - it's all pretty straight forward and easy - but while you are playing with the guts of the machine - mine as well replaced all the little things. The kits on Amazon are very reasonable, especially for the time, you will save later.
Great easy fix. You will need a short nut driver or socket wrench to fit between the space between drum, if not you will have to remove the drum as some parts suppliers show
Thanks for the tutorial brotha! You just fixed my dryer! Much appreciate!
Thank you for your video. Really helped. Didn’t even have to replace fuses just unscrew then, cleaned them and it worked. But what I really had to clean was lint. 10 years of build up… so I guess everything happens for a reason.
Your video was really helpful. Thank you again.
Sounds like this is exactly what I need to do! Thank you soooo much for this video! 🌞
Thank you very much!
You saved my and money.
Not to mention, I look like the boss to my wife now.
Daniel, you're the man! I bought the thermal fuse on Amazon using the links you shared and my dryer is up and running again. Thanks for taking the time to post this video.
excellent - great Job!! Saved mad money too :)
Can you provide the link to these parts? Thanks
Same
I found this video incredibly helpful. I followed what was suggested. The only thing I would add is that on some models the cover needs to be replaced for the gas valve to open. Super useful video
Which cover?
Thank you so much for this video and posted links. $20 and 30 min later my husband was able to get it heated again.
Very good news - Congratulations on saving money and learning a little something new :)
How ?
Thanks! Saved me a repair call. Worked like a charm!
Thaaaaanks!!! Did what you said, my wife thinks I'm a hero! $12.88 for the sensor!! God bless You
Thanks for the video. I fixed my dryer for $10. 15 yrs old (I think) and still kickin.
Video was a great big help. $15.00 dollars for 1 part and good to dry.
Those screws were hard to remove not having a small socket wrench, but was able to get them off and order parts. Will let you know how it goes! Thanks for posting this God Bless!
Thank you so much for posting this video! You saved us a lot of money!!
Exactly what was wrong with mine! Worked perfectly, thanks!
Thanks man! I fixed mine in about 20 min. Your video definitely helped! 👍👍
Very cool - congrats on saving some mad money!!
Thank you! 13 bucks for parts. Found 10 dollars in change in the bottom of the dryer. Better than 300 to our overpriced local guy. And I impressed my husband!
Awesome glad i could help.
Yep! Thanks man! Same model. $13 on Amazon .
Note, the current model for the black regulator now looks a little bit different but works just fine as long as you match up the part number
Excellent trouble shooting video. Thanks man!
Thanks! Dan for your info., It was a game changer! I purchased those part and my dryer was back and running with heat!
That has to be precisely my same issue. Thank you for making this video! You definitely helped me :).
Thanks man. Was just using my multimeter on those parts and am not showing continuity but I wasn't sure I was doing it right but now after your video I'm pretty sure this is the exact issue I have. Couldn't find many videos of this specific model so this really helped. Thank you
Thank you so much man!! It worked. Back in action.
You rock dude, this totally worked for me! Thank you for posting.
I changed both fuses (Thermal and heat regulator) and it worked perfect. 13 bucks for parts. I suggest taking the parts out first and looking at the number on them before ordering on ebay or amazon. Takes about 10 minutes to break it down and 10 to rebuild.
Any link to buy on amazon
@@fairytaleflavors3638 I bought the heat regulator on ebay. Take the part out and look at the number on it.
@@michaelota5167 thank you
Awsome repair tip ‼️🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Thanks a lot!! I have an electric and it sure helped me out!! The fuses are in the EXACT same spot so -- those with an electric This may work for you. NOTE: these are fuses, you should check with a $6 multimeter from Harbor Freight and check them to be sure.
are you saying that once removed the fuses can be tested before buying a new one?
I have the cheap HF multimeter but can’t figure out how to test these fuses.
Great video! Just one tip, make sure you replace the vent cover before testing.
My flame kept dying out which made me spend $40 on the flame sensor. As soon as I put the cover back on, worked perfectly!
I'm not sure what that is... but when dealing with the unknown I always put things back exactly as I found them. :) if the vent cover wasn't on, then it wasn't on when I opened it up (we bought this new :) ) ....been repairing odds and ends around our house for the past 22 years - hasn't failed me yet :) Best of luck to you
Daniel Shepherd It is the cover that you have to remove to replace the two fuses behind it. The big silver part to the left of the ignitor system. Hope that makes sense.
@@kellyhayes1251 oh, well, of course, lol. was it not on in the video? Not sure why you're bringing it up.
Thanks brother, you helped me with getting access to my machine so I can diagnose my issue, god bless you thanks again
I will be going to Amazon right away to find the parts! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks bud, your directions and recommendations repaired my “no heat” issue. My white thermocouple had failed, probably due to excessive lint inside!!! Thanks God Bless
Add me to your list of Thank You's for making this video. I followed it to a T and was able to order the two fuses from Amazon from your link. My dryer works perfectly fine now. Thank you so much.
Great news Jerri!! So glad the video helped you. :)
This saved me so much time and money. Thank you!!!!
Great video! Right to the point...thank you Daniel!
Just wanted to say thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing I have the exact same dryer gonna try to fix it this weekend
Thanks for sharing the video and the Amazon lead! Next day shipping, 15 later and a little bit duct cleaning, my Duet dryer is as good as new!
Thanks, Dan! This video did the trick for our Whirlpool Duet gas dryer too! The third local repair shop I went to finally had the part. They said the vast majority of gas dryer repairs is this part. Really easy.
Thank you! Worked like a charm. 😊
It sure helped me thanks a lot man 🙏🏼
$14 fixed. Thanks for Posting.
Ty mine went out yesterday I have same dryer other than the color lol ty this was very helpful
Daniel it helped me, Thank you
Thank you so much!! I fixed it myself. 20 minutes. God bless you!!0
.pgdghdhh
Je
Thanks man! Saved me alot of money 💰 👍👍👍
Thanks for posting. It worked.
Thank you for this video. We had the same problem and this did the trick!
THANK YOU DANIEL! 😎👍
You da man!!! Thank you going to try this out
You need to test the thermistor {the larger black one of the two items} for resistance, not just continuity. It will test open on a continuity test but still be good. The thermistor's resistance goes up as the temp goes up. Mine tested open on continuity {no beep} but read 8.5K ohms at 78 degrees F which is in spec. My problem turned out to be a bad igniter. Still a good video with that one exception.
Buddy thank you so much,I think this is what I need to replace as well,🙏
It helped me. Thanks!
Dude! Thaaaaank you!
I think you just saved me 700$. Lol I’m going to see if this fixes the problem. Thank you for making this video
Spot me 10$ then lol
Bless your soul
Thank you. I found your video. Done
Thanks so much I was in charge of fixing it for my mom😭
thank you!
Thanks for the video! I replaced as you suggested. The burner keeps cycling on and off though. Thoughts?
Thank you!!!
I’ve been searching and searching to find videos of what’s wrong with my electric whirlpool duet dryer and I checked everything to see what’s wrong with it with fuses with connections with sensors and nothing was wrong with it and then bought a new cord for the back of the dryer still not working it just turns on and spins and no heat and then I am just checking if the cord got a good connection to the plug in it just needed to get bent a little bit and now it works perfectly fine
This is awesome and super helpful!
Your machine looks like it is set up under gas. I set mine up for steam, do you know if it might be the same steps? Any input would be appreciated
Hey Daniel, Sorry for taking so long to respond. - You set yours up for steam?! Well, that's truly amazing but I haven't a clue brother. I went in and just replaced the parts that were easiet to replace. My Theory is this - If I spend 150$ for some "somebody" to come out and LOOK at my machine - I better do everything in my power in the effect of 150$. - 9 times out of 10 I can usually fix whatever issues I have for FAR less and GET WAY WAY WAY more! ;)
@@shep78Gmail No problem better late than never. Kind of you to reply and make this video though. Thank you for your time
hi Daniel. thank you for your video. I replaced the two fuse. The issue is the heating chamber or burner, which i have not touched. upon turning on dryer within a few seconds I can see light and the fire would light and looks and sounds like a torch blowing fire heat towards the back of the dryer. Heres the problem. the fire would go out after about a minute of so. I repeated it twice and the same thing happens. On the third attempt the chamber lighting ( no fire yet) comes on. about 5 sec after where I would see the fire gets lit up I now here a "click" ...no fire...and the light goes out. Any help would be greatly appreciated it.
I have a Whirlpool compact front load dryer model WED7500VW that I need to change the start capacitor and do not know how to get to it. Front panel screws are too
close to the drum to unscrew and back panel supports the drum. Any ideas?
Was yours heating at all? My coils are red, in just a small (maybe 2") section. If I recall correctly, from a previous time that I cleaned out the interior of the dryer, the coils were VERY red and VERY HOT. Do you think it could still be the fuses that need replaced? or maybe another suggestion?
Awesome video. Same dryer. Gas and when I took it apart and ran it as far as the gas in the back nothing was on. Was that what you had as well? Inside was filled with dust. Massive amounts.
Your video worked!!! Thamk you
Hello, thank you for sharing. Just to clarify, In the beginning you mentioned “washer”. Is it a washer or dryer? Thanks so much!
It's a dryer.
What kind of tool did you use to get the screws out of fuse?
What is it when your electric dryer works as it should and shuts off at the end of the cycle, but the heat is staying on?
What size are the bolts for the front panel? I've tried a variety of ratchets and haven't found on the fits yet. Thanks!
mine was 1/4 inch socket
