The Tex HBP was the biggest mistake by Lidge.. Tex Had been struggling pretty bad in the post season. ARod quite the opposite. You had to get Tex to put the ball in play there.
When sports was monumental. Especially days like this when you sports teams are hosting big games. If I’m not mistaken, the Knicks and Sixers also had a game in Philly the same night.
That tying HR by Feliz in the 8th had the potential to be one of those Jim Leyritz/Alex Gonzalez type series changers. Especially after Lidge got the first 2 in the ninth it looked like the Phils might pull this off and change the trajectory of the series.
Hahahaha not intentional 😂😂. When your first throw hits the player in the ribs but you pitched fine to everyone else, and said player got hit twice the night before by the same team, yeah, I would say intentional. Can't say it isn't just by seeing where he is hit. It didn't graze, It didn't clip, it pegged him.
This game was the nail in the coffin for the Phillies. It looked like the Feliz homer was a series changer but the Yankees came right back in the 9th. Shame
@Star Key Little G Yea and the best Phillies team ever to play was worse than probably the 15th best yankees team ever to play. Yankees won 103 games in a tougher division. They also beat the phillies 2/3 in the regular season. So their record against the phillies was 6 and 3. Cliff Lee pitching 3 games would have been their best chance of winning 3 games this series.
Yankees were the better team. They won the much stronger AL East with 103 wins while the Phillies won the NL East with 93 wins. The 2nd place team in the Yankees division had 95 wins(Red Sox) and would have won the NL East over the Phillies. I actually thought the Yankees would win the series in 5 games at the most but Cliff Lee proved to be their nemesis beating them both outings he pitched in the series. If not for Cliff Lee the Yankees might have sweept the Phillies. All in all the Phillies were still probably the toughest opponent the Yankees could face in the WS during those years. I consider those Phillies one of their best opponents in the World Series.
@Star Key Little G I know they were stacked bro. Look at the end of my comment. I gave your Phillies their props. Imo the Phillies were probably the strongest opponent the NL had at the time. I simply believe the Yankees were the better team coming into the 09 series, better offense and better overall pitching. That isn't to say the Phillies were weak.
Everyone forgets about Damon taking third on the stolen base. That was one of the most important moments of the Series to me. It shook up this game.
Raydan116 Great heads up play...great game. I'm a Red Sox fan.
Raydan116 turning point of this ws!
I didn't forget about it! :D :D :D

Nothing beats the Phillies fans faces when Damon steals third

Why wasn’t Brad lidge thrown out for hitting Tex? I thought all benches were warned?
It was not intentional. Listen to Tim MacCarver's explanation.
I don’t like a rod, but letting him get hit is garbage
I sat behind home plate in the 400 level and we thought for sure that Ruiz caught that tipped ball at 2:36:27. That close to ending the inning.
Son of a Savage damn if he would’ve caught that ball Phillies might’ve won the game who knows
@@JHardyExTReme and maybe the series

Damon only *just* *barely* fouled the 1-2 pitch from Lidge, or Philadelphia wins that World Series.
