So raw and pure... you can hear what was coming! Love this band. The boys from Sheffield that saved my life. They were with me through all the heartache and shit. They are still with me at age 52. Had the pleasure of meeting them in 2016. Was able to thank them in person. They were my British Invasion. Love and miss you Steve Clark and Pete Willis. 🤘🤘🤘
On Through The Night and High & Dry. Phil is a good guitar player but he didn't have the edge that Pete Willis had. Just too bad Pete had a drinking problem that cost him his job with the band.
awesome collection. Not an official album but perfect presentation of their incredible raw energy from 1978-80. Rick Allen really shines, phenomenal and he was born on 1/11/63 so do the math, he was 15-17 when these were recorded!
Thanks for posting. Amazing how his spoken voice is so close to his voice today - and he was only 19 or 20 when this was recorded. Pretty amazing career for these guys
Aww man if the guitars were more prominent in the mix on "Glad I'm Alive" it would have made for a great live 1-off single at the time. This album captures some true NWOBHM moments, even if the band hated to acknowledge it from 1983 onwards
kinda amazing they turned into such a pop, and now almost country rock band. but i mean, they've always done it total pro. even if i t wasn't my thing. High And Dry Apex. Pyromania, their "Black Album" as it were. But yea yeah these early massively UFO influenced days were the best imo.
Love this period of Leppard. God, that fat flappy tube tone on bass has so much attack on the compression, but sounds so tasty. Mix of instruments is a bit shoddy though. Still worthwhile for sure.

They'd been better off staying in England... Hello AmeriCo. shows they were definitely wanting success by any means necessary and relocating to the states.
If they'd stayed in the UK they would've gone absolutely NOWHERE. They wouldn't have made any money, not be seen as worth anything to any labels or producers, and the band would have broken up. You can't be a full-time musician/band without exposure and funding.
@@somedaysometime ]] Hey my friend! Joe and Rick Savage were indeed the founding members of the band. I would like to think that I know all things Leppard up until Hysteria. I never really cared for that LP that much, and STOPPED listening to them after [[ Steve Clark ]] had passed away. The singing voice of Joe just progressed over time. He never changed anything at all, it,s just like as you start to get older ones voice starts to change . His just so happen to get better as he aged. Just listen to the albums in order and you will hear his vocals progress. That is not changing a style at all my friend. Now if you have seen Leppard in concert, Joe can hold his own until 3/4 of the show. Then he starts lagging because of the high range that he must hit on some of the songs. Now after years of him understanding his vocal range, he will put the hardest songs to sing, 1st on the set list. This way he is in full form for the show, and he will give a TOP NOTCH performance. That is a professional at work my friend. NO LIP SYNC for JOE at all. As good as the music is, I don't approve of the bootleg albums. They weren't listed for a reason, and buying them doesn't support the band at all. The money goes to whoever sold the album.
Nasty, Organic and raw virgin version of one of their greatest tracks!

Certainly the bands first albums are the best, I love Def Leppard

This is when Def Leppard sounded the best best lineup , Joe Elliot, Rick Savage, Steve Clark , Pete Willis, Rick Allen

and they were like 18 years old & primed. Then Willis was fired.

Never hear this one before- it rocks👍🏼

This is before Rick, I think. He didn't come in until after the '79 EP. This should be Tony Kenning if the 1978 date is correct.

everything was on point, unbelievably great!! Def Leppard fan then, now and forever!!
Def Leppard fan, then.
the early days of def Leppard we will miss Steve r.i.p
Back then, after getting a new album, id listen to each song in hopes of hearing a killer guitar solo! I really miss those days!!

Rick Allen shreds on this album....Wasted is on fire.
Great Great Album ..
Def Leppard For Life !!
Love this!! So glad I stumbled across it🖤🤘 classic lepps..thanks for sharing!!!
You can tell that Rick Allen was a prodigy on the drums. He was Bonham and Peart - esque.
Agreed
Awesome, I love that!! Blaze On!!!!

Huh? This doesn't sound like Joe at all. I haven't found anywhere that says they had a different singer at first though.
Yeah they didn't, he was a founding member. It was around High 'n' Dry when his singing style changed

Mutt Lange taught Joe how to sing proper. Straight from Joe
