Those are lovely purchases! I hope you had a fun time away from home and you returned recharged and rejuvenated! I have not grown anything in leca - but I have in Lechuza pon, in self-watering pots. It was an OK experience, however, I am now back to using a chunky soil mix. Over this past weekend, to my surprise, I found a variety of new plants at my local Home Depot, among them a philodendron tortum! Now I am very happy! I’ve wanted one ever since you showed us yours. So thank you! Thanks for your post. It’s always good to see you. 💕💕💕
Love your haul. I hang out on palm Street and learn a lot about new plants and shop here and there. But the lives on there help me to see what's on the market.
Hi Desiree, beautiful plants. GP had the billietae for 20. It comes small but does grow pretty fast. I had also wanted one for a long time and finally got it there. You always find huge lysh plants. Here where I live there is nothing not even at the big box stores.
I bought about 10 new cacti and succulents lol new obsession 😅 I use leca in almost 70%of my plants and love it! Takes watering my other plants half the time
I have a Jade Scindapsus. It looks like yours but solid green. what a finicky plant it is. I lost a lot of leaves then decided to put it in Fluval and Tree Fern Fiber. That plant ate that stuff up and finally grew thick roots. I just moved it to a mix I created from another UA-camr and pray the roots go bonkers like two of my plants did in this wonderful mix. I don't like LECA for plants, I use it in the soil for aeration, or at the bottom of the pot to cover holes. LECA dries out way too fast. You also have to fertilize the water, and flush LECA periodically to remove build up and the keep the balls moist by running water through it. If you want to sterilize the clay balls, just boil them. They will last you forever so long as you don't step on them. A great channel is the Leca queen, you could learn a lot from her.
I have always wanted a Scalprerum (sp?). I have only that and the Dragons Breath i want for my collection. As far as the hydro, i have dabbled a few times. Cant get the hang of it, but i have better success using it as a root starter. I just plop it into the jar, usually a recycled horseradish, and put water in it about 1/3 full of water. Good luck!!
Leca is so fun and easy. Don't stress. My jose buono wouldn't grow last resort i put it in leca, the roots are crazy and coloring is returning. My pepperonia obtusifolium in leca. Grew back from a stem.
Great purchase, the sensaveria is so cute. I’ve seen the schisma. at Lowe’s as well but I’m hesitant to own one. Doesn’t it attract spider mites like a magnet? Please Keep us posted with yours. I’m so glad you posted, I always look forward to your videos like my child support. Sometimes I get it get often then sometimes I don’t. But when I do, I get really happy. How’s your Thai constellation ??? Adios!!!
Yeah the leca is litterally like clay puffs. Kinda like popcorn, they heat the clay balls until.they pop out into clay poofs.😂 Definitely include some nutrients and dont keep the water too deep. I use distilled water and never need to flush. I dont use the ABQ hard water
Greetings I am trying not to go down the scindapsus "rabbit hole". So of course when i started to figure out their needs this summer and i am having more successful growing of this genus it has had the effect of convincing me to collect several more in my overstocked collection. 2024 has had me add the Scindapsus Trubei Dark Form, the Scindapsus Silver Lady, the Scindapsus Platinum, and the Scindapsus Aggereus. I always get my plants small like between 3 to 4 inch pots. So i have a place or two I have secreted them. Yes, I also added a Spathiphyllum Sensation to my insanity along with the Spathiphyllum Jet Ski. Did anyone ask about the Syngonium genus? Yes, Gabriella's Nursery, and Steve's Leaves had me feverishly pursuing the Three King, Reverted Mixed Greens and the Wenlendii. All this Spring and summer.!
