We have such hubris to think we know how things should happen. By the time you’ve lived a while you realize some of the greatest gifts came after a disappointment.

How do you forgive sexual abuse it's an opportunity to help someone that has walked this path. It takes a long time but forgiving yourself it's part of transforming the bad into good.

I'm sorry for you. Life can be extremely difficult at times. There are things that we can't change and tend to make us unhappy, but we can change is the way we face them. I think that's what the monk said here. Be strong, I wish you to be happy.

@@Onlinesully I can only tell you that 2020 was a horrible year for me and I was becoming extremely depressed, I was given medication but they didn't work and I didn't want to end up taking medication all my life. So I started meditation and listening to dharma talks every day and that helped me a lot. Nothing is more important than your happiness and peace of mind. I wish you'll find the way to happier. Take care of yourself.

Ugh...he speaks truth yet you don't have to join a cult for wisdom.

Thomas Sutherland true. we are all challenging each other to be better. it doesn't have to take place in a cult or religion. but we can respect people who seek wisdom and understanding within religion without feeling like it takes away from our values. cuz honestly it doesn't. just cuz I love God. a Buddhist who doesn't believe in God doesn't take away from his message of gratitude as a way to confront life's challenges. which is a valuable message in itself
