That little eye twitch Sheldon does at 1:08 when Penny says that she will play the part of Spock reminded me of the eye twitch the Joker did in The Dark Knight when one of the mobsters called him crazy. That made me think of the episode in which Leonard said that Sheldon was "one lab accident away from being a super villain".😀
Leonard thinks Sheldon is one lab accident away from a supervillain!? Wasn't it Leonard who started messing around with unstable chemicals in his apartment after a break up resulting in the elevator blowing up? I think we know which of them is more likely to go supervillain after a lab accident especially since Leonard is the one whose lab accidents are actually dangerous.

Having watched Young Sheldon, I can honestly say Mary and George both had no clue what to do with Sheldon most of the time but did their best!! This scene was actually so touching. You can tell how much Sheldon still loves his mom.
He's so alienated, that he finds strength in pretending not to. He'd rather be the sociopath people think he is. But you can't fake that forever if you're just not. And he loves his family.

I love how Penny acts as the straight man to Sheldon’s pure craziness. Both actors are very talented and, while Jim Parsons had plenty of chances to shine, they rarely gave Kaley Cuoco the opportunity. Now she’s not only voicing Harley Quinn, but she’s on The Flight Attendant which I’ve never seen but I’ve heard that it’s really giving her a chance to let her talent shine.
Actually the flight attendant was Kaley's idea to buy the rights of the book before it even got published so she could do a tv series based on it, she even basically directed a lot of scenes and mange to finish filing even with the pandemic starting. She's a beast

Jesus, the end of this scene was kinda dark. I know that there is a mindless laugh track going off every 2 seconds, but Sheldon just got triggered to re-enact some sort of emotional trauma from his childhood. This was actually really cool insight into the character.
Yeah I'm a psychologist and this is actually similar to some of our therapeutic methods. You see how him acting as his mother, expressing love for her son, leads to an emotional breakthrough for him, and perhaps also provides insight (not that they would stress that too much in a sitcom, of course).
Yup, that trauma is probably him leaving his confort zone (his mother and loved ones) to live alone and study in germany. Notice how he later in life regrets going alone at such young age to another country thinking he wouldn't need his family because he's an emotionless robot when in reality he's capable of having feelings just like everyone else

Like, when I saw the movie AI and imagined my own family dying (note, all of them were alive at the time) scared me and made me cry.... Kids can be sensitive like that. They won't think of scary things in the future, but the moment they imagine it, it scares them.
Eh Sheldon wasn’t traumatized. He was babied and then ran away to become the unstable, anal, nut bag we all love from a distance but would murder after 1 day with him.

But damn, if these two didn’t earn every cent of their extravagant pay in this scene. And I should know: I worked in the Payroll Department at Warner Brothers and personally wrote Kelly Cuoco a huge bonus check to replace the one she or one of her people had managed to lose. (When I asked my manager how such a thing could happen, she just looked at me and said, “Welcome to show business.”)
