I love the 2.0 HDI engine of that era. We had it in a 306. I have always liked the diesel sound but this is one of the best of that era. Love the way you can hear the turbo spool up and down. Sounds a lot more powerful than it is.
Hahah. Let me tell you a story about a van we had very similar to this. We had a silver 2004 Citroen Relay BK54 YHB. It was absolutely appalling to drive. One point, we actually got stuck on a hill, there was smoke billowing out of the exhaust pipe, then we realised the turbo had blown completely. Now, with this being a horse box conversion, the floor also fell through. Thank the lord we didn’t have any horses in it at the time. It was a certified death trap. Now we have a 2017 Fiat Ducato horse box, and that’s a world of difference. Greetings from Brighton and Hove UK.
Oh yeah the Ducato/Boxer/Jumper where if you had a white van, the exhaust would leave a huge dark diesel fumes spot on the paint, they curved the exhaust shooting downward ever since.
Not really. Besides the Mercedes OM604 (88hp in the extremely rare 2.0, 95hp in 2.2) not a single 2.0 liter diesel had more than 75hp N/A. And also this HDI makes much more torque, the OM604 only had 150Nm in 2.2 version (130 in 2.0)
@@waduhek2568 We were talking about comparison to non turbo engines, but yeah there were more powerful engines available, this was just entry level. For more power you had the 2.3 and the 2.8 jtd (actual Iveco engines, not Peugeot like 2.0). Other van manufaturers had similar arrangements at the time - for example the Mercedes Sprinter had the 2.2 L OM611 with 80hp 200Nm, 110hp 270Nm and 130hp 300Nm. Exact same engine block, just the 80hp version had no VNT and no Intercooler.
Its gearbox is horrible, very short its speeds 100 km/h 3000 rpm. I rode one of the same years ago, but it was a Citroen Jumper 2.0 HDI just like this engine and gearbox and that was always revolutionized, I don't understand how it had 400,000 km. It is a very good van but the engine has to be 2.3 JTD or 2.8 JTD The revolutions are longer and consume less. less wear.
Insane how the interior looks absolutely modern
Maybe because the current 2024 Ducato interior is still almost the same as in the 2006 model :D

Nice👏👏👏
even a non turbo diesel at that era could produce more than 84hp...
There was also the 2.8 jtd version with 130 hp, thoose engine musn't have a lot of hp with small cm3, they must be strong!

@@petarmiletic997 2L turbo in 2000s made 130+hp with 300+nm of torque. This engine was outdated by that time already.

How are you find these cars?
2012 Crafter video please ?
😀👍
It definitely needs a 6-Speed manual, but 84hp is too less for it😄
Chip it to 130 hp 😅
