Hello Kurt, thanks for your helpfull videos. Could you say why the « gain » box in the lower right corner of APT is empty ? How do you manage this so important parameter ? Do you use script definition ?
Great video. Congrats on the scope. Been using APT for years. I really like it. Just downloaded SGP and trying it now on second night out. I miss interacting with my gear, but automation is nice. Did my first meridan flip and it did everything. I plan to use both depending if I want to be involved or not. Got a new scope coming in 2 days myself. FYI - I sub'd so definitely make some more videos. Clear skies!!
I actually have SGP as well. I learned on BackyardEOS then switched to APT to control the camera only as I wanted to get familiar with it before I got my ASI1600. When I got camera I tried out SGP to control everything but in the end I liked APT little better. A made a post my Blog: astroquest1.blogspot.com/search?q=Sequence+Generator
@@AstroQuest1 - Yea APT is easier for me to use since I have know the software. Still trying out SGP under the trial license. It definitely seems slightly more powerful out of the box to setup multiple targets and have it plate solve without any user interaction. Your videos made me go back and use APT last night. Such a pleasure to use!! FYI - if you go under PHD2 -> Tools -> Modify Calibration => Clear Calibration I believe. Once you hit guide it button it will run the calibration steps again. You don't have to turn it on/off. Sure you probably know just heard you mention close and reopen. Please keep the videos coming. Always up for new calibration routines on processing.
Hi, thanks for the tutorials. They are very useful. With this method you no longer have 2 or 3 stars? It's just like you do in the video. Thank you. a greeting
Hey Kurt! Thanks for your videos. They're SO HELPFUL. One question...I can't get my histogram to go wide and horizontal like yours. Mine is tall and skinny, and I can't seem to resize it. Any thoughts?
Hi Jeff, Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately I don't have a clue - it is just what popped up. If you have a DSLR, that may be the cause. You might want to post it to the APT Facebook page as it is a good question. Most of the time Ivo or one of the the other developers will respond. - Good Luck
Were you using the ASI1600M for flats if so what ADU/ exposures. or light source? great videos Sub~ed and liked. keep em coming . i used BYEOS , Nebulosity 4, APT 3.63.1, SGP PRo 151. NINA , and now Voyager . they all do the same thing basically its only a matter on how automated you want to be. Processed with Pixinsight 1.8 , APP , some CS6 and Neb 4.x ... such a great and expensive Hobby. Cheers Astrodude.
Funny you should mention flats as I am doing them right now. I use 12,000 for ADU - I have experimented with 3,500 (which Chuck's Astro uses) up to 20,000 and realyy did not see much difference so I settled in on 12,000. I have putting a white T-shirt over the scope and then I put an iPad on it using program called Lightbox. It has been working really well for the 8 months I have been doing it this way. I started with BYEOS, then APT, did a little with SGP, but stuck with APT. Thanks the comments, I have been using your very informative channel as well in fact it is one of my featured channels. - Cheers Kurt
@@AstroQuest1 Hey Kurt, thanks , one of my friend has tried every combo in the book for his 1600MM flats and its just not happening.. different light sources, no doing, maybe he should try APT instead of SGP.. LOL
Thanks for your videos. APT and Point craft was driving me nuts. You have a great way of explaining the while process.
Thanks, glad it helped! - Cheers
Thanks Kurt - a pleasure to see APT being used successfully.
Thanks Damien!

I have no idea. I set my gain to 139 though.

@@ftlaud911 Thanks for the FYI, I did not know that, I keep learning new things all the time.

Hi, finds the plate solver the target when the target is not in the picture frame?
Once the images is solved, you use goto++ to actually get it into the frame.
@@AstroQuest1 Thank you for the answer.
