Just ONE More thing.. I remember they had a few of those Montego's at LAPD 77th Div in the early 70's. They were a hoot to ride in. Didn't handle well, but in a straight shot they scooted. A friend's dad picked up a Dark Green 1969 Detective's Satellite for...800.00 at a City Garage Auction. It had very low miles, as the detectives rarely drove it. The mechanic gave my friend's dad a "Heads up" on it. A four door Roadrunner.🙂
Oh my god, I never thought I'd get to see a 4 door Montego with roof cans in action, I've wanted an ex LAPD Montego or at least a 4 door with a 429 and little to no side trim for years, I'll never give up, but I'll probably never find one either.
That mercury with that big block.. big 100 yard boot legger at the beginning lol. My buddy had one .. 390 in it. Motor mount broke and somehow mad it full throttle!! Lmao!!! If I didn’t reach over and shut the key off I wouldn’t be here to tell you guys this story. No joke.
Those Montegos were among the most rare LAPD cars, 1 year only I think, the cops didn't care for them much because they were ordered with no A/C. Very desirable today in the collector police car market. Hollywood trashed a bunch of them when they were retired, I remember an episode of CHiPs where a greasy hooligan used one to deliberately cause freeway accidents for kicks.
Wonder why LAPD used a non-intermediate Mopar for 1970? After so long using Plymouth Belevederes seems odd, though that year they still had Plymouth Furys in their fleet, & the following year the mid-sized Mopar was back with the Satellite.
Do the writers have a cop get shot in so many of this show's episodes so they can tie in the Kate Jackson nurse character into the story line? The show seems more like a soup opera than a crime show.

My favorite show back in the day
1970 Montego is a favorite of mine.
That ‘70 Mercury Montego reminds me of that Gray one that chases Eleanor (1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 modified as ‘73) in Gone in 60 Seconds (1974).
Yes. I thought the same thing.
"One Baker Eleven" as driven by stuntman Butch Stockton would have to be pop culture's most famous 1970 Montego.
Opening credits caused me seizures. Hospital.
Dang CCW2 you did it again great stuff
I'm just getting warmed up. ha ha ha
Mercury montego's of that year are very hard to find.
I would have loved to see them pass a green VW beetle going down that hill.

Watch original "Gone in 60 Seconds", that Montego with a 429 I believe was almost too much for Eleanor's 351!
whats this intro music you always use, id love to hear the full music track
In this video, as a joke, it's the theme from Starsky and Hutch.
