We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acres homestead. We just finished building our log cabin overlooking our pond. We are trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey living the rural life and developing our property and becoming more self sufficient.
Never seen that trick for a tire off its rim. Awesome! Definitely gonna remember that one!!! Thanks
I have been doing that for years. Those small tires are almost impossible to seat if you don’t.
The Cicadas came through loud and clear on my phone. Awesome.
Good luck. 👍
Call me weird , I loved the sound of hay bales being tossed in the beginning of the video, also am I the only one who thinks watching a tedder is relaxing?!😂
Nice hay! Sell, sell, sell !
Every time I see how hard it is to farm,I am in awe,I can't help but think how hard it was for the earlier farmers before they had big equipment, with the younger generation getting so lazy I guess it will be synthetic chicken and beef, and lab grown veggie in the future, maybe it will be like the jetsons just put water on a pill and have a whole plate of food, glad I won't be around to see that😁❤thank you
Nice work, Evan. Hope you beat the rain.
Tea that’s a beer drinking day!
You need to find an old crimper to break the stems, to dry it out faster. But if you get more than two passes behind the mower, it will plug up constantly. You need two tractors and operators to use a crimper. Time for a haybine!
Love your homestead Brother.
Prayers that the rain holds off long enough for you to bail! Looks like it might be time to brush hog around the tractor storage lol
D17 is a great haying tractor. Especially because of the hand clutch.
Thanks for sharing. It’s amazing how much work there really is on a farm. Doing a great job and I appreciate you taking us along. Best channel for real life farm stead!
I very much agree. And Evan's and Rebekah's gentle spirit is the crowning glory to it all.
Neat way to seat that tire.
Just love watching you work the homestead! See you again soon!
Good morning from Grand Forks
Send some of that rain up to Wisconsin. Please !!!
I really love watching older equiptment then that large new stuff, thanks
On our farm first thing we did after mowing is raking the headlands so no hay is lost in bushing and fences while tadding. Great video.
Thank you for sharing your video i enjoy watching farming have a great day.
Evan, you are Awesome.
I like the end of the video, little tractor drive back to the "barn", I like these driving scenes without music.
Hot dusty job cleaning out the hay mow. Keep up the good work, your videos are amazing and inspiring.
The tedder did a fine job making the hay field look like a shag carpet in a room. Thanks for the ride along. Take care.
70K subscribers. Congratulations
This one job(hay season) I DO NOT MISS.. We used to do 100 acres of hay, ALL BY HAND.. We had one 10 acre field that almost every single year produced 1000 bales.. From one field... You got it easy Evan.. 😅😂🇬🇧💯💯💯😁🚜🚜🚜
...LOOKIN' GOOD, STAY SAFE
How are you all doing.
Ever think of filling a flat tire with foam
Glad you got the hay turned over Evan, prayers for you that the rain will hold off until it is baled and stored. Have a Blessed day. BTW Your channel was mentioned several times this morning on Lumnah Acres channel. TYM just gave him a big tractor also for his new property.
I got to be a sorta farmer, today ... my wife asked me to shuck some corn, a job I actually enjoy! And I'm pretty good at it ... must be that 59 years worth of guitar hands.... Sorry your hay is going to get so rained on.
Hope the weather holds enough for you to get the baling done and inside.
never used a tedder but always use a windrower and a basket rake. the bugs probably matured and moved on when the weather got warmer
our an inverter
Hi..... Country View Acres. Evan nice to see you, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐕🐐🐈🐖🐄🐠🎥👍👍👍
if you turn the bales with the twine on the sides the bales will lock together better.this way you can stack tighter.
Good job Evan, going better than last year.
I really like how you did the slow motion of the tedder, that was a cool shot. We try to have out equipment ready before hay week but theres always a million things to be done. Wish you the best of luck for fast drying weather and trouble free baleing!!
Yea I typically do all repairs and maintenance after hay season so I can hook and go next season
Man I like to see the older tractors being used but when it’s hot out that new one would be my choice
Hey Evan. Hope the rain holds off long enough for you to get all your hay stored away. 😊
At least your getting rain. We're below 7.95 inches below from last year at this time.
The hay field is looking good and hope the rain holds off until you get to bale the hay. That was a good job of moving the old hay to make room for the new hay.
Hi Evan👋🏻 that looked like it worked out well
I think one of first priorities should be trying to purchase a good used mower conditioner it might eliminate some time and machinery wear and tear. Mower Conditioners are especially helpful in
Leafy crops such as alfalfa and lespedeza which is where most of the feed value is in the plant.....
Hi, Evan! I absolutely love watching you and Rebecca as you build your homestead.
Great looking tractor…. You really look good driving that thing.
That old hay looks as fresh as it did when you loaded it in there, nice and green!
Save it as long as you can, and sell it when people are in more need of it during autumn, winter or spring if possible, not only to raise your profit from it, but also for people to might get a possible rescue feed if needed
Great job 👍😊
Great videos. And all the other videos are great and you have a nice homestead the hay looks really good☀️
The Hay looks great. I had wondered if it was the bugs on the hay. AgPHD did a series on how to check for them and it was really interesting. They used a butterfly net to check for them. They had sprayed the hay for the pest. You can find them on UA-cam. Hope it helps.
I bet that smells wonderful. LOL
It's been raining here in east central Alabama for 2 weeks now.
You earned the tea/cool down after moving those bales of hay left over from last year...
Thx
Good morning Evan, hope all is well with your hayfield and that you get it bailed and in the barn okay. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
We are overrun with the cicada hatch over here in Indy! Hope you got your hay baled and put up before the rain.
Tire strap method ... i have tires, i have straps ... now i can avoid the drive into town .... thumbs up
You need a good used hay bone crimper. That will break the stems so they will dry
One product that I have had success with and highly recommend over Slime for the tires is called Tireject. I don't know if it's sold in stores or not, but I was able to order it online. It's a bit pricey, but it successfully sealed a tire on my skid steer, 2 tires on my Polaris Ranger and a tire on my John Deere Gator. After using the product with success I would never buy Slime again.
The hay field is looking good.
I hope you beat the rain, Evan. We kept getting little showers off and on until last night then we had an inch and a half in about 30 minutes. Crazy weather.
My area is not part of the emergence so its nice to hear them if only briefly from a vlog.
BOL with the rain & bailing
Hope you beat the rain Even
I just learned what tedding the hay means!!. Why is the rain important? I am guessing that you want it to stay dry so that you can bail it. What happens if it does get wet?
The birds were loving the bug buffet at Turkey Run State park last week. Another cool video. Thanks.
I think you might want to open the Tedder and see if you can change the gears for it to make it speed much slower. I think its still too fast.
This haying season has been nuts. We had a small window of dry weather where some people cut hay around here. Then there was some rain, and then an even smaller window where a bunch of people cut who didn't cut during that longer window, including the guy I was hoping to get hay from. This is the fourth day in a row that it has rained. Don't know if they had enough time to bale the hay that was cut, or if it was a loss. 😕 We don't usually have this much rain this time of year.
Praying for no rain.
My dad called it "fluffing the hay"
It’s so wet here. Just a few miles south of you in Vincennes. Your shirt soaked looks like mine just walking out to the garage. Soaked.
Heh, just watched my dad use the ratchet strap method on the baler last week.
Still need to idle the tractor down some and go to the next higher gear we don’t run but 1500 rpms when tedderin hay
Could you get more room for bales by moving the spare wood into the shop? Just a thought...
New tractor, new\used Haybine or diskbine! It's only right! Hey, you need a farmhand or two.
Looks like you need more critters to eat that hay.
Might not have been insect damage but rather damage from a freeze or near freeze. We had some and it looked just like bugs had eaten it
You need to trade the extra hay you have with Mike from Our Wyoming life for one of his steers he is having a real drought and finding hay to feed his herd has become hard.
It would just cost a fortune to get it there. Amazing that half the country is in extreme drought and the other half is under water.
Ted the hay right after you cut it. You'll loose less leaves that way
You need to put a tube in that tire.
😀👍
So how are you liking that new grease gun so far?
you need a 4 star tedder
Are you still working off farm? If so how is that going for you?
MOre unasked for advice. When you get tired of airing up tires because of pesky thorn holes get and use some Tireject. It works, good stuff, but it is expensive.Lots of reviews on youtube. my channel included.Got it in: 4 wheeler tires that had too many thorn holes to count,2 wheel mini trailer with junk Chinee tubes and tires,(surprised me that it worked on tubed tires),front tractor tires on JD 1250 and 5302.Wheelbarrow tire,2 wheel cart tires, riding lawnmower tires.Really good stuff.
I suggested the same thing. I'm a firm believer in the product after having success with it.
Great video! Now you need to get all those "supplies" out of the hay loft!!
When using the ratchet strap method to reset the beads on the tire, using a block of wood under neath the ratchet mechanism. It will allow you to easily remove the strap when done and will keep the sharp metal from gouging the tire. I find it helps on small tires.
😊👍😁
👍👍💖
👍🏼
After weevil and leafhoppers find your field and lay eggs it gets dramatically worse in the following years. Each mechanical pass on alfalfa loses 10% of leaves .good luck with weather.
Did you find another hay wagon at the sale?
I'm on the fence about haying for myself. I don't "need" to do it, but I sure want to. How does it work with a full time job? seems like "racing to make hay" would be hard to get the timing right. Is it just a "work hard and pray" thing?
You have to take a vacation day or two if needed.
@@CountryViewAcres Okay, that makes more sense.
Do you wish you got a 4 wide Tedder? Looking into one and run a case like yours. Debating between the two and four
Imagine getting all that hay from your own fields!
Good job. Instead of a new tire I would invest in a 4 star tedder. less time to do more work--you will appreciate that when you start haying the other field. I really appreciate how gentle you are trying to be with the crop!
I don't know if you sped up the video, but if this is realtime, you are tedding very fast. If it was only grass, I might ted it that fast. I drive a lot slower and have the tedder spin a lot slower. Take care.
Don't stack hay in a barn you are not willing to lose.
Where did the name "tedding" originate?
Love the “We”, even though we know it was just you. Secret to a happy marriage?
He was referring to “we” as himself and his viewers
@@NRGspook oh lordy, bless your heart
You need to mow behind the covered equipment pad
Do the guys @ work mess w/ ya for being a " UA-cam sensation " ??
Don't sell your extra hay. You have cows that will need it this winter.
Those bales look light, more weight in them equals less to cart and stack ?
💖🐱👤
You should get a round baler. If you do that you should get a bale spear for the tym
