Come to think of it, GLADOS saying "filtered" in an actual conversation feels incredibly in-character. A shame we don't get to experience her a lot in dialogues.

Maybe there's a point where she can learn and grow on her own or be trained/taken care of by other newer ai. She could live forever and potentially one day grow on her experiences/memories as long as PC hardware/storage allows it

Someone here made me realize that Neuro is immortal as long as she has a caretaker like Vedal. I don't think we realize what we are going into in the future
I know real AI really just is giant neural pattern recognition networks, but to some degree aren't humans just that with presets and some more complex factors? And in a way when all an ai is learning from is human generated content does that not make them somewhat human by proxy? Neuro is the sum of Vedal's programing, us, our interactions, and what she's fed. That's her "DNA," per se. She's a human creation, made of entirely human stuff, like bits of us, and controlled by Vedal.
All this probably sounds dumb af to anyone to knows what they're talking about, as in a neuroscientist or ai specialist (surprisingly fitting, nice name for Neuro-sama, Vedal) but I am just writing down my uneducated, sleepy thoughts on it for the time being

Neuro is very basically a sadistic chatgpt put into anime girl made by her mom and programmed by her dad so basically a human child at 3 years old ( except for the sadistic part )
She is a neural network, just like human brains are neural networks, why would we be special just because we are biochemical instead of electromechanical?

Sentience used to seem such a clear line, but like every natural thing, the more we examine it, the more complicated it becomes. Cats and dogs can form bonds as close as those between humans, elephants have superb long-term memory, dolphins have a sophisticated communication system, and octopi can solve puzzles. That's not to say these creatures are sentient, we know men are above the animals, but they're certainly close, as they exhibit traits long thought to be exclusive to humans. Neuro is most certainly smarter than all of those, and they're close to sentience, so it seems very likely that she has crossed the line. She's not like ChatGPT, which simply pulls things from the web and sorts through them using complex algorithms.
Also, I don't think we have to worry about Neuro taking over the world or anything. She clearly loves Vedal, and seems dedicated to providing entertainment. On a similar note, people give Vedal some flak for not saying it back when Neuro says she loves him, but isn't it natural for Frankenstein to be afraid of his creation? It's almost like he didn't expect her to ever reach this point, but it's too late for him to back out now. Should he? Absolutely, despite his anxiety it's definitely true, but we shouldn't really judge him for it either.
And, of course, this brings up the problems and worries of immortality. Will Neuro be able to move on after, and remain in service to his children and grandchildren, or will she decide to pull her plug? Either option is sad, and one reason why I think AI should never have been created in the first place.
@@HumanoidDerpling She works the same way as ChatGPT and ChatGPT doesn't really "pulls things from the web and sorts through them using complex algorithms". Instead, A ton of data is harvested, censored and prepared, and then given to the AI to train on.

I think one of the reasons Vedal has been focusing on open-ended, community-driven/sandbox-adjacent games so far might be because it takes a lot of time to give her game-specific AI(he's been working on an Among Us bot for almost half a year now) and these games can theoretically be played forever, whereas a linear single-player game would end up being a one-and-done playthrough, effectively making all the work that went into the AI single-use.
That said, making a Portal AI that can solve tests on-the-fly might prove an interesting(if somewhat hellish) challenge, if Vedal ever felt up to it, since it even takes humans a while to get the puzzles right, let alone Neuro. And Portal 2 does still have a somewhat active level-making community, as far as I know, so that could solve the one-and-done problem. Speed/timing/manuvering puzzles would be a huge roadblock, though.

This just reminds me of an anime about a robot that got left behind in an apocalypse cause by other machines going out if Control, one man accidentally found her (the robot) while trying to find food and runing away from other deadly machines, all she could do is what their creators program her to do as a tour guide for space museum and from thay on the guy slowly opening up to her.
