I think it's just a result of how the voice is pitch shifted for each note. She does the same thing for other songs she's sung.
Her voice is combined with the vocals-only track of a song, so it takes on the singing qualities of the original singer.

@@jebediahkerman8245 well, that are quite well, the problem is just that like with Vocaloid and sampling in general you cannot simply pitch voices. When we sing we use techniques like vibrato and note holding to not go too high or too deep for our singing voice. Also our vocal chords, as they are analog and not digital are differently tuned than that of an AI, for whom pitch is just some kind of frequency change.

He prompts her to sing everytime if you notice. Earlier in this stream she refused to talk even after 2 consecutive restarts and when she did start she was being awfully slow to read chat. She eventually began to chat like normal. I wouldn't interpret this as her not _wanting_ to stream, chat or sing. He gives her so much freedom for an AI.

I wouldn't wonder if it's even more difficult: Neuro-chan most likely first talks to Vedal and when she is finished he approves or disapproves what she is saying. At the beginning he most likely had to disapprove much of what she was suggesting to say because it being utter nonsense or her becoming the new Goebbels. As she is an AI program, she learns from this rejected texts too, what not to say so nowadays she is much more fluent in speaking than in the beginning, as her program is already building working sentences without her becoming problematic.
@@acmenipponair this is the first time she refused his prompt to begin singing and she does it multiple times before conceding. Before she went silent there were at least 2 chatters who were harassing her with spam that was written in such a way I imagine it got through the filter. Mods probably didn't intervene initially for obvious reasons (they appear to be gone after her silence). Vedal didn't just reset her without saying anything like he normally does; he put three question marks on screen. This is speculation, but I think he has a visualizer for her neural network and it showed it functioning normally. When she starts talking again, she takes long pauses like a person gauging reactions to her words.
It isn't that she didn't want to sing, but rather she 'thought' we didn't want to hear her sing. If I had to guess, Vedal convinced her by saying something along the lines of, "Chat wants you to sing.". That's why he says, "She listens to you, not me.".

I really am amazed by the skill of Vedal897 who created fully functional streaming AI, which can smoothly interface with vocaloid. This is really great achievement of programming which nobody would believe was possible even 10 years ago. I remember my mind being blown by Alpha GO, but I would never expect this technology to progress that fast.
I'd love to see Vedal897 interview to learn more about how he created & manages Neuro. Nothing but respect for this person.

This is wild. Actual poetry I'd even say. Also, I really have to wonder how the singing AI works. It has some semblance of GLaDOS' actual vocals so like, does it just look up a song, separates the vocal and music (could have been done beforehand), and then attempts to recreate the vocals?

The vocals are probably made by UTAU or some other singing synthesizer. Some live2d software has features to capture audio and produce the lip-sync.
So for the time being, I believe the way it works is that Vedal mutes the AI temporarily and hits 'play'
Hmm, interesting. After listening to this and her other songs that she did, it's most likely not a simple pitch shift of the original song's vocals. When she sings "I think I prefer to stay inside", it starts off more sudden, while the original is more soft and more whispery. So it's some singing synthesizer. It doesn't really do anything but if I pitch it down, it does start to sound familiar but I can't quite put my finger on it.
EDIT: There's a comment on her cover of Blinding Lights on the official channel. It says that Vedal confirmed that it's not pre-recorded and that she learns to sing better every time. What might be happening is that looks at a vocal track and tries to tune Neuro's voice to the vocal track. That could explain why this cover sounds kind of like GLaDOS but not, why her Blinding Lights one is deeper and less robotic, and why her Ghost Rule one sounds like a Vocaloid/UTAU that doesn't exist.

@@Zuron I think you are correct, but it seems like the "mute" part and "play" part are done automatically by the program when it decides to enter "singing mode". Otherwise he wouldn't have to plead with the language model. Though it's possible he wanted the language model to say it wanted to sing before he hit the sing "button".

Neuro has a long, long, long way to go before matching, let alone being, a real person. maybe at the end of our lifetimes computer technology will make AGI feasible.

Data sets my friend, remember it took him 3 whole years, god knows what language he wrote this in, I think languages such as C/C#/C++ would be hell to write this in, so it's most likely python or java(I am aware java is also probably bad for this, but I believe it's better than writing it in other languagea except python)

He probably fine tuned a large language model on twitch chat (probably in Python) or something and feeds in twitch chat. Output of the language model probably goes into a voice synthesizer or vocal generation AI model
