I probably would if the case was to use both lenses at f2,8. But in my experience i use most my lenses wide open and think that's the most important thing to test to see if it's sharp or not. But i'll do better to the next review for sure!
Congratulations on becoming a Dad Peter. I'm really happy for you. Also, I like that minor small details you've changed in that video like the logo at the beginning, and I really liked the pros and cons that appear beside you on the screen. Small details made a Huge impact making the video more professional. Huge Thumbs up. Once more Congratulations on becoming a Dad. May God protects your child, you and your partner from every single bad thing in the Universe.
Thank you so much Mohamed, i'm full of feelings! Glad you like the new additions to the reviews, trying to step up my content as much as i can to make it more enjoyable. Thanks for dropping the feedback! Again, thank you!
Got this lens about whole month. Really like it. For Landscapes best lens ever. But not like it's performace while shooting portraits. No I replaced it with 35mm 1.8 sony and it is definitely sharper with more reliable AF, also lighter and smaller. For full 1.8 aperature is Sony better at all and I really love this lens since it is my most favourite lens. Batis has much more better microcontrasts and colours but i can fix it a lot in PP.
Congratulations on becoming a dad! Must be so exciting! I just found your channel and watched your Sony A7iii vs A7Riii video. I have the Sony A6500 but I want to purchase the A7Riii for photography (specifically for portraits and weddings). Would you recommend me purchasing the A7Riii? Also, any advice on must-have equipment when working on a shoot? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!
Thank you so much, it feels so surreal but awesome! Awesome, glad to have you here! Well yeah, i would recommend the A7RIII because i personally think it's the best camera that i've used. It is unbeatable when it comes to image quality and the images looks so damn good. If you buy one i'd appreciate it if you used the links below :D. Doesn't cost anything extra but gives me a little kickback! When it comes to must have equipment i'd recommend a Carbon Fibre tripod, Variable ND Filters and Manfrotto Quick Release Plates (Also in the links below), then you're all set! Thanks for being here!
@@PeterLindgren1 Thank you so much! This is very helpful. I will definitely use the links once I decide on purchasing. Keep up the amazing content and congrats again!
Hey I’ve been waiting for a review just like this one about the BATIS 40mm. Really well done! Thank you. I actually owned this lens. The day it came out I ordered it and received my copy well before the firmware update. I sold it very quickly due to the limitations of close focus and the lens stopping down. I know that the new firmware update took care of some of those problems. Your footage looks fantastic! I think I will be buying the lens again. I will say I tested this lens again some others and also was shocked that it did not out perform some less expensive lenses. Although I was incredibly happy with the video performance and overall look. Thanks again!
Hey, awesome that you liked the review! I didn't have any issues with the lens at all and I really wanted to keep this bad boy due to the versatility of it. I would buy it if I had the money for sure! If you buy it again make sure to use the link I've posted below 😀👍! Thanks for watching!
@@PeterLindgren1 yeah that would be awesome if I can but at the same time would be nice to have that Tamron 28-75 as well... aahhhh the decisions since I have the Sony 85mm
i switched from the zeiss 35 f2.8 to the batis 40 F2. As far as i can say, yes - it is more versatile and this is fun. the grighter aperture and the less depth of field looks more pleasing and the "macro" function is fun and creates good results with far better colour than the 35 F2.8 zeiss. BUT a huge downside for me is that (even after the update from april) the focus does not work very good. i do a lot of pics from my kids and i have very much unsharp photos with that lens. yes, the eye-af seems to work but in the end about the half of the pictures where unsharp and unusable. this is really sad because some shots are really special and when i check them on the big screen they are unsharp :( i did not have the problem with the 35 F 2.8 ! so when there is another 35 F2.0 or 35 F1.8 is natively available for sony i will switch!
@@Schroeder3000 That sounds weird, the one i had was working really well! Have you tried updating the Firmware of the lens one more time? because that might be a big part as to why the lens is behaving as it is? You definitely should look in to it!
I like your other reviews, but this time you made one comparison mistake. You have to compare to lenses in terms of sharpness at the same aperture. Otherwise it's like saying that car 1 needs more gas when you'll drive it at 150km/h compared to car 2 that is just able to drive at 100km/h. That's obvious... So it doesn't make sense to say that the Tamron gives you more sharpness, because you will use the Batis at F2.0 very often. The Batis has the ability to go at F2.0 in contrast to the Tamron. When you are okay with F2.8, then you have to compare the Batis and the Tamron both at F2.8. The Batis wins the F2.0 battle, because the Tamron doesn't even offer you this aperture. So...you have to compare to lenses at the same aperture. Other reviews say that the Batis 40 is one of the sharpest of the whole lineup. So maybe next time you should not only test the sharpness, contrast, etc. on F2.0, but also on F4.0 and F8.0 at least. I own the Batis 40 and chose it over the Zeiss 35mm F1.4 mainly because of size and weight. I am totally in love with it. If I could only bring one lens...this would be it. The versatility of this lens is unbeaten. If you use it correctly you can get the look of an 35mm, but you can get a 50mm look as well. It isnt the best landscape, street or portrait focal length, but it is able to handle it all. Since I own it, it's always on my Sony A7II when I don't know what I am going to shoot this day. Love your other reviews! What about long term reviews in the future? Would love to see them! * Greetings from Germany
Well yeah i know, that's why this is the only review with that mistake in it. This was only rented for the purpose of reviewing it, so can't do a long term review =/.
Thank you, glad you liked it! Yeah, the Tamron is a fantastic lens for the price and i'm also looking forward to the 17-28. Have it pre ordered and will do my best to push out a review as soon as i get it! Thank you, it's awesome!

Sharpness isn't everything, I think that 3d pop is as important as sharpness. Do you want a sharp flat image or one that looks more organic and alive...
Okay, probably my eyes playing tricks, but did anyone else notice the creepy looking "figure" from 4:52-4:58? A bit left of center, next to the tree.
Congrats on 3k bro you earned it
Thank you so much, and thank you for being a part of it!
Dudddeeeee congratulations!!!!
Thanks man! Feels so surreal!
Test the sharpness at the same f/stop and distance. That’ll show which is sharper.

@@PeterLindgren1 yeah and that close focus function has a special look to it no other lens has. I love shooting macro with it. Looks very arty.
@@PeterLindgren1 make sure to upgrade it though because that will fix the aperture bug in close focus instances.

Wow, a big congrats. Peter! I came for the lens review but now I am thinking about your baby's first Christmas!
Does the stopping down of aperture bother you when shooting videos? Thanks
It doesn't, but I usually use an ND filter so I can shoot wide open!

Hey Pete.
Would you say Zeiss primes are nicer for video than the Sony lenses.
Especially the 85 batis v Sony 85 F1.8
Thanks for your insights, but what are the better options for full frame that you were talking about? (except the Tamron obviously) :D Thanks.
No worries! Hmmm, well i think the tamron, 16-35 and also a fixed 50mm would be something to look into!
@@PeterLindgren1 thanks Peter.

Zeiss batis f2 40mm or sony zeiss 35 f/1.4 for videos ??
( body sony a7m3 )
Thanks
Definitely Zeiss 40mm F2.0
Congraaaaats on you being a dad!!!!
I love the Batis 40! Use it in my videos myself =) Thanks for this, helped me decide on it
ive just pre-ordered the Samyang 45mm F1.8 ..half the size & a quarter of the price ?
the video footage looked beautiful.
I would actually consider going for this lens since i think it's "one lens in all", especially for APSC cameras!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Would be interesting to compare these two. Zeiss is about micro-contrast,
Great video, loved the part of the house. Congratulations on becoming a Dad 😁😁
Thanks David! It turned out good right =D?

bro can you help me to choose camera for video so i don t know if i will buy a7riii or a7iii for filmmaking without looking for the price

a7iii for video
