My best friend asked me to officiate her wedding. I felt very similar to you at first and ultimately decided that I HAD to do this for her. 5 years later it’s one of my proudest accomplishments and made our friendship even stronger. Hope you have a similar experience!

I'm so happy that you're so happy for Estée. Years ago, I had a friend in uni who only dated with marriage in mind. She felt that for her she didn't want to date someone without treating it as potentially the person she would marry. At the time I really didn't understand it. But I could respect it. Now, I can understand it and understand that everyone has different life paths, and just because we do have so many options on what we can pursue in our lives, and more freedom to choose how we live our lives, it doesn't necessarily mean there aren't people who don't know what they would like their lives to look like from a younger age. I think it's very brave for Estee to publicly acknowledge that she's been focused on finding her life partner for so long in an era where one can be judged harshly and misunderstood for saying that. The fact that it came to fruition a decade later shows that she has thought seriously about this and isn't getting married for the sake of it. And I think you getting so emotional about it shows how much you've seen her go through. I think maybe you feel relief that there's a dream coming true, and that you feel you can trust that dream. I hope you can officiate for her, because I think you'd do brilliantly ( Saying this as someone who also hates public speaking, but somehow ended up speaking for ten minutes on national tv once). I think you might regret it a bit if you don't. Also, cue cards are your friend.
We had a friend officiate our wedding and it really was so meaningful. We bought her an ebook that gave a bunch of different scripts and she got a folio that she could read hers off of. Don’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable, but I know you’d be amazing if you choose to! ❤️❤️

Personally I can't wrap my head around the fact that someone would want to be engaged, I was never "engaged" yet I have been married for 22 years, nor were my girlfriends and they are all married as well. We,my hubby and I, simply made the mutual decision to marry and that was it, yet I'm from Italy, regarded as a traditional country (but I'm from the North, here we are not Latinas nor Mediterranean)

Hi Amelia, I am so happy for Estee, I have been following you both for the longest time.
I understand your hesitation about officiating Estee’s wedding.
I too am terrified of public speaking.
My mum passed away 6 weeks ago and she had asked me before she passed, if I would write and read her eulogy at the funeral. I had in my mind that I would ask one of the funeral planners to do it, but once she had gone, there was no way that I could disappoint her and it was her request.
So I did it. I was so happy that I did and knew that my mum would have been proud and happy too.
I was a bundle of nerves and couldn’t stop shaking but I got through it to the end without breaking down.
Long story short, be very well prepared with what you have to say and read it out loud many many times over, so you are familiar with what is coming and kind of ( not in a bad way) become desensitised and able to read through the emotional parts.
If you decide to take it on you will be so proud of yourself and honouring the beautiful friend ship you both have together.
