It definitely happens in real life. I fell for someone that very much reminded me of Stephen Bonnet. Charming, womanizer, evil...

I'm actually very conflicted about Stephen Bonnet, because he is a terrible person and he is obviously not wanted anywhere near the Frasers, but on the other hand I absolutely love Ed Speleers and because of this I cannot truly hate Stephen Bonnet. It's one of those things where you hate the character but the actor is so brilliant that you just wish they would keep him around. Even though Bonnet will bring nothing but misery, but I mean.. Ed plays him so well!

zsuwolf , I agree. The character was very well developed and you are hoping he has a “ right of passage”. I was disappointed to see him die. I was hoping he would change and show his true love and happiness with Brianna and his son. I thought Roger would die.

@@reshmeyt6695 oh good heavens, no. I mean what I enjoyed in him the most was that he was still just a ruthless pirate, never denying who he is, but still had a charming way about it. I was actually sad to see that 180° turn he took in the last episode, trying to be the husband and father he never could've been. For me that was sort of out of character, or at least way too quick a turn, compared to the events that led to this point. Nonetheless, sad to see him go but happy he's not there to stir any more trouble.

I was hoping to see more. They developed his character so much and then just shot him. I thought it strange that Brianna forgave him and then ended up being the one to put the bullet I’m his head. You have to ask: who is the real bad person? Brianna or Bonnet? Most bad people are bad due to the circumstances they grew up in, and he was an example of that. He was changing and that showed character development. I am sad to see such a talented actor leave Outlander. As a writer, I feel it keeping him and showing his growth would have added to a richer script.

@@reshmeyt6695 Well, the writers did say in the "Inside the episode" bit that they brought the end of Stephen Bonnet forward from book 6, so in the books I assume this is developed a bit more. I am not at that book yet, so I don't know for sure :) But for now, based only on the show, I think Brianna has made her peace with Bonnet long before this, when she thought he was going to die in prison, hence why she went there to talk to him. Not forgiving him, but making peace with what happened. She was ready to let this go and raise Jemmy with Roger. We will never know whether it was revenge or mercy that made Brianna shoot Bonnet, I would say a bit of both. But yes, I do agree that had they given Bonnet's character development more time and explain it a bit more, it would have made more sense. There was potential in this character, he could've had a great redemption arc!

I wish he would’ve had longer because Ed portrayed Bonnet so phenomenally. I really feel like they could’ve distanced a little from the books as you could tell that Bonnet could’ve changed for the sake of Brianna and wee Jemmy but all in all Ed did an amazing job at bringing such a villain to life. Hands down one of the best actors out there 👊🏼👊🏼

WHAT IS THIS THAT GIVES SUCH OF AN ATTRACTION TO GREAT ACTORS EVEN WHEN PLAYING A VILLAIN CHARACTER, LIKE BONETT?
It is that when you see them in real life and see how opposite characters from their role are, it makes you imagine that if somehow destiny gave you the blessed opportunity to meet them and be a friend of one of them like Ed...,most of the times you were talking to him, in the back of your mind you would think of Stephen Bonett and say: "Wow! I am right here watching at him, speaking at him, and yes it is him! This man who played Bonett in flesh and blood!"
And you know that if at any time you ask him a favour for some seconds to act a small piece of his role as Bonett in front of you then...boom! You will meet this character. And yet this is Ed! Your friend Ed - Bonett sitting in a cafeteria drinking a coffee with you on an ordinary day...
To me? ED IS ONE OF THE BEST ACTORS OF ALL TIME! I LOVE HIM

So I’m just watching outlander now and I had to look up Ed Speleers just so I could see the real person because his character is so believable and so absolutely horrible I couldn’t imagine him nice. I didn’t have a tv for years so haven’t watched any of his other shows. He sounds lovely

Umm... black jack raped a CHILD! And raped Jamie! And tried to rape Claire! (On multiple occasions)
I would say that Stephen Bonnet is much better because he felt some sort of remorse... but still what he did wasn’t right. I was so mad that Stephen had to be that much of a bad guy likee I liked him even though he did rob them... idk it just hits different when they’re fine as hell lol
