- In 2018 Eric Idle released a sortautobiogrophy titled "Always look on the bright side of Life".
On Monday, October 22nd, he sat down with Professor Brian Cox to have a little chat about that book on stage of the Barbican Hall, London.
At the end of that evening, Eric performed "The Galaxy Song" (from Monty Phyton's "Meaning Of Life") with Brian commenting live on how accurate the information given in the lyrics really is.

Never thought I would see Eric Idle playing the straight man to a physicist. LOL.

Brian Cox is a wonderful presenter to the public of the amazing physical realities and wonders of the universe. I believe he is the legitimate successor to Stephen Hawking. But the real point of this post is simple.....I hope Eric Idle lives forever.

It's closer to say 11 million miles per minute. As long as you're happy with a minute being roughly 59.13 seconds long, that is.
But that doesn't scan as well when you're singing it.

Ah, but since Eric wrote the song, the speed of light has obviously slowed down - much like Eric himself, I suppose: not because he is "idle" but simply because he is now so old!

I figured there was some shtick going on, because I love this song, and knew that 300 miles an hour was not even close to the correct lyric.

Light travels at a little over 11 million miles in 1 minute. 12 million miles a minute is close enough. No need to split RCH's here. Like we can really tell the difference. Slow it down to 1 million miles per minute and we still probably would notice any difference.
