When Art meets Science. My money is still on Art. Eric is a legend. Brian is well on his way, but remember he is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy.
Brian Cox is a wonderful presenter to the public of the amazing physical realities and wonders of the universe. I believe he is the legitimate successor to Stephen Hawking. But the real point of this post is simple.....I hope Eric Idle lives forever.
This is the best of the best. Just loving it, But Professor Cox as much I love you. You , my friend have met a man of "pure intellectual genius" & "comedy". we sadly may never see again.
As an atheist I once got asked by a Christian what I take solace in when it comes to pondering my own mortality and my answer was this song. Once you start thinking bigger than yourself your own mortality seems unimportant
I came here expecting the Brian Cox from Succession. But seeing this one, I thought, isn't that the guy from Queen? But no that's Brian May (PhD astrophysics).
Wow - haven't looked here in months (...). Now at over 80K So humbled. Lots of positive comments, and a handful crappy ones... Well, You just can't win them all.
When Brian interrupted Eric, I excepted the following. Eric: Brian! Brian: Yes Eric. Eric: Shush As Eric proceeds to bonk Brian on the head with his microphone.
Earth Rotation (900mph)+ Revolution (90mps) + Solar motion (1M/mpd) + ? We're traveling pretty quick inside the known universe, funny how it feels like the Earth stands still.🤔
As Einstein pointed out, the laws of science work for any inertial reference frame. As long as you’re not undergoing acceleration, you don’t really know how fast you are going, or if you are moving at all.
Imagine aliens on some remote planet. It's a high tech civilisation. Therefore they have TV or something. If so... What kind of shows are THEY watching?
Ah, but since Eric wrote the song, the speed of light has obviously slowed down - much like Eric himself, I suppose: not because he is "idle" but simply because he is now so old!
Light travels at a little over 11 million miles in 1 minute. 12 million miles a minute is close enough. No need to split RCH's here. Like we can really tell the difference. Slow it down to 1 million miles per minute and we still probably would notice any difference.
Booooo!! Erik Idle knows nothing about the universe. Talk about coming unprepared for a show huh! I can understand why the audience are screaming and shouting at him.
Never thought I would see Eric Idle playing the straight man to a physicist. LOL.

Perfect
That's such a great comment!! Encapsulates all the fun of Python and our love of the legends that they all are
Eric Idle may be the most positive cultural influence of my entire life time. Just brilliant!
Don't forget Neil Innes.

This has to be the ultimate comic foil and straight-man routine of all time. Abbott and Costello, eat your heart out (-:
Never thought I'd ever see the Galaxy Song annotated!

"because it's all bugger down here on Earth". Wise words to end with
Pray that there is intelligent life out there.... 'cos there's bugger all here on Earth! ...So True!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought I bet Brian wants to correct every line in the song .
Ah , the life of Brian .
Different movie :P
"He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!"
I see what you did there.🧐😂
Used this song to revise for my Physics AS level....got a D. This explains it.
Always look on the bright side of like because things can only get better.
I wish there was a version with better sound but still thank you for filming and posting this
two absolute icons! Awesome.

Brian cox is just absolutely fantastic ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cox KNOWS his Python!
2 of my greatest influences on stage together whom always look on the bright side of entropy😉. Bravo chaps👏
That whole evening was fantastic, I had a front row seat and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Was this Guilford?
Barbican.
@@doctordeej oh cool
@@doctordeej in the video it said Glive which is Guilford
Eric idle is a musical genius.
definitely not a mathematical one.

Pedantic vs Python. What a match!
Brian Cox….. making physics fun again
I'd love to see a transcript
Comedy gold 🥇
This is the best video on the internet, period
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Laughing till I am crying joyfully.
I only wish I could have been there
Love it.
Pure legends. ♥️

I needed that.

Two of my favourite people on Earth.
What other Planets do you travel to ?

That MIGHT have been funny - if he'd said 'in the universe'.
This is just brilliant lol 😂😂😂 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️ And well done that man with the book ;)
Wonderful !!! ❤
Thank you for posting this. If I were anymore bloody British, well, I couldn't talk at all.
Wonderful!
Pure brilliance!
What a great Man, love him.
This is magnificent! 😂
Brilliant ! Humanity has a chance ....
Best. Version. Ever.
The speed of light doesn't always travel at the speed of light.
Fu**ing brilliant. ♥️
This was awesome!
I never knew Michael Ehrmantraut could play the piano

Would have been better if he slapped him with a fish
@@brutusthecat6044 🤔😆
And the same fish every night.
A shame we can't hear what Brian is saying.
I was also here
Hysterical....👍👍😂
This is great tho the version where Stephen Hawking shows up is best 😂
Hahahaha brilliant
Great:)
Right brain, left brain
Only way this could be better is if it were Dr Brian May correcting the astrophysics and also giving musical backup
Coxy is the perfect straight man
Priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fucking hilarious!
is that Jonathan Banks, of Breaking Bad on Keyboards?
What a shambles
They should have gone on to check the veracity of Things Can Only Get Better.
Just as well Brian played keyboards and didn’t write the lyrics for D-Ream isn’t it!
Gold! 😂

There, I fixed it for you.
I'll be expecting royalties
Kin awesome 😊😅😂
Python fans be like "wait, that's not the correct lyric!"
I figured there was some shtick going on, because I love this song, and knew that 300 miles an hour was not even close to the correct lyric.

isn't the origional 12 million miles a minute, not 300 miles a minute?
Yes, they correct it at the end of the video. It's a pretty funny bit.
Ah, but since Eric wrote the song, the speed of light has obviously slowed down - much like Eric himself, I suppose: not because he is "idle" but simply because he is now so old!
The real question here, after the song ended, did Cox give him his liver?
@@jonwilkinson9695 Nope - not a single stain of blood in the whole room...

Brian Cox is a muppet and clearly no sense of humour
You clearly missed how this comedy routine was meant to work.
You're the type of person who would have believed that Andy Kaufman was 100% serious in all his performances.
@@nicholasmeinke5497 and your the type of person that need to have their say on a month old post cause your that sad 😔

:') what a clown
How to ruin a good song... why the hell are people laughing... this isnt even slightly funny.
See the comments above.
Duck, the joke flew over your head.
Get a sense of humor bud. Jesus, does everything have to be absolutely serious. Eric is having fun, Brian is having fun and so is the audience.
David Maxwell is not a real human. Anyone that knows this tune from Python's "Meaning of Life" and wasn't in stitches isn't capable of humor. Bot.
You're not a Maxwell ... you're a Minpoor
Idle & Cox = tickets available soon hopefully :D thats ace
Wonderful!!
