【About Asian Small-clawed Otters】
First, otters are different from sea otters.
Sea otters spend most of their time in the water, but otters can live both on the ground and in water.
A few years ago, trafficking otters became a serious problem, and in 2019, CITES (Washington Convention) increased the classification of otters from CITESⅡ to CITES I, which banned international trade.
Having an otter as a pet is illegal in most countries. However, in Japan, otters can be traded, although it is limited to domestic breeds only.
Currently, severe restrictions are in place for buying and selling otters in Japan. For example, microchips need to be inserted in both babies and parents, and owners need a special permit. Circumstances of birth must also be reported in detail.
As a result, there is currently no buying and selling of baby otters in the market. There is a severe penalty for selling and buying otters with unknown birth origins without permits. This was effective in eliminating trafficking, and we don’t see otter trafficking on the news anymore.
Kotaro and Hana were both born in Japan and have permits.
It is so much work to have an otter as a pet. You need to be ready for more than its cuteness. They are loud, and they sometimes bite you. Food and water get very expensive, and you cannot keep otters in cages because they are active. Also, we never leave them at home. We always look after them closely like we do with human children, and our top priority is always them.
If you want to have an otter as a pet, you must be able to follow the law and devote your life to it. If you don’t have that resolve, you should never have one as a pet.

Выдры очень умные,они любопытны от природы и общительны-это социальные животные. Они сразу поняли что это не живое существо и спокойно ели в его присутствии но им было интересно понять что это и как оно функционирует и страх перед игрушкой они не испытывают-это говорит об их интеллекте. Потрясающие животные и миролюбивые.

Hana and Kotaro have brought so much joy to so many people. My mom suffers from mental illness and was depressed so I put on her TV a playlist of Hana and Kotaro. She watched 10 of my favorite videos and she smiled and laughed so much. To there daddy, your living my dream, if otter's where legal in the US I would sell a ton of my stuff to afford 2 of them.
pet otters are legal in missouri, florida, nebraska, nevada, and north dakota
only asian small claw otters allowed since north american otters are not only more dangerous, but are protected wildlife as apex predators
i recommend getting two pet ferrets as they are a domesticated weasel in the same family as otters and have very similar mannerisms and dietary needs, just without the high water bill

Hana is too cute about being concerned about the dinosaur. When Kotaro heard the dinosaur roar-he is like "What is that sound? Time to investigate." And Kotaro wants to fight the dinosaur-too cute! And Hana is like I am just done with the dinosaur...haha!

I totally agree. It makes a big difference with Loutre for example, which always shows their otters eating. Kotsumet is a lot smarter.
Hello everyone.. let's not be too critical of Loutre and the fact she doesn't provide captions. The Loutre setting is her job. Perhaps there is not time to do captions. I subscribe to other Otter Channels that do not provide captions either. I get the impression that the Kosumet person works from home. Anyway, he is spot on with those captions. I love the way he allows Hana to be a smartass sometimes.
@@dianamoore2241 You say "There is no time to do captions". There would be if Loutre didn't post one video a day, which is too many and often repetitive (otters eating most of the time). They don't really have the time to work on the videos. Kosumet posts only once a week, so it's more elaborate.

0:20 - Kotaro smells his own foot. I've learned from other videos that otter paws do carry and emit particular scents, but I find it funny to see him checking himself out nonetheless. It's like when I'm about to go outside and I check my breath against my palm and also check to make sure my fly isn't open.

This is hilarious! Y’all have the best toys! Kotakong and Hanazilla are more curious than afraid about most everything. And as long as nothing tries to mess with their food, they just keep on eating. 😂 If Godzilla had gone after their meals while they were still eating, no doubt there would be hell for that hapless lizard monster to pay. 😆
