The Legacy transcends life indeed.

Ghost of Tsushima was set much earlier than this game, in the year 1274. This game being set in 1600s Japan makes sense for no more Jin Sakai
@@TheSkiga it doesn’t make sense making a standalone sequel. He should have been wanted by his uncle/for killing his uncle and been on the run to another island. They might do that one later. It’s not like a definite no. Also Jin’s story is complete. No need to drag it. What happened after can be summed up as him continuing his ghost duty’s. Heck his story may have been the reason for this new ghost character. Maybe she’s a descendent from him.

Ainu (Native people of Ezo / Hokkaido) called Mount Yootei with Makkarinipuri or female mountain. And someone mentioned the mountain is believed to have the power to strengthened women's energy. Not even 10 minutes after the announcement and you’re crying like a toddler. You can’t even use the “retainer” excuse this time because there were actual female warriors during that time period.
@@ISGAMINGFORNERDS It's like the developers believe they're 50% of humanity or some BS.
1600.
So, Shogun is literally happening down south. Miyamoto Musashi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Sekigahara, all of that happens.
This is gonna be awesome.
We're actually missing most of that. It's set in the year Tokugawa became Shogun, 1603, and pretty much the end of the warring states period which is what most people think of when they think Samurai. Tokugawa went on to unify some of the outer territories and there are some pretty important events but the 1500s is the warring states period, when Nobunaga unified Japan, when he was assassinated and succeeded by Hideyoshi who continued his unification, Sekigahara is the biggest battle in feudal Japan and was 1600, and when Tokugawa finished unifying most of Japan in 1603. The period from then on is considered one of the most peaceful in Japanese history, the Tokugawa shogunate lasted until the late 1800s. Kind of bummed they skipped out such an awesome setting but oh well.
@@Hypnos.7 so this character is possibly hunting down fugitives from Ishida's army after Sekigahara?
@@CountKibblesNBits I think someone theorized that it will be set in Hokkaido due to the name being related to mountain in the local dialect. Tokugawa's rise to the Shogunate was followed by a series of smaller reunification campaigns in the north east so it could be related to that as well. Who knows.
And the RDR2-style music hits in when she mounts on the horse🫡🗿
so AC:shadows using hip hop for Yasuke = Bad.
but GoY using western in this game = good?
Do you understand why the hip hop soundtrack just for the black guy might be more suspect than a reference to how guitars in westerns mimic horse trotting?
@@ryuno2097so black guy = hip-hop music?
Hmmm, so much trying to be diverse when you label people color to one genre of music. ( Ubisoft failed at what they tried to be)
@@jabaited the hip hop soundtrack is not "just for the black guy" there is a whole anime, called samurai champloo, that uses hiphop music as soundtrack, this was created many years ago, its not a recent thing, AC just gets inspirations of this.
@@agenteviix1593 Samurai Shampoo used Hip-hop for the whole series as a coherent inspired theme, Ubisoft put on Hip-hop only when the Black Samurai came up in their trailer. Kinda weird when their trailer came out but for recent events and how Ubisoft keeps fking up everything related to AC: Shadow, it's very clear they're doing this for "diversity point", not for any artistic or inspiration purpose.

Set in the first year of the Edo period, Tsushima was set in the Kamakura period, so 300 plus years later and set in the untamed land of Ezo (Hokkaido today), outside the reach of the Shogunate. This is very very cool! 🤩
Wasn’t the edo period peace time?
@@akuma6983 eventually; in 1603, Tokugawa was still consolidating power; there were some rebellions taking place, and a lot of disenfranchised Samurai. Also, the presence of Onna-Musha (female warriors of nobility) really diminished during this time, with women losing much, in terms of legal status, beginning in the early Edo, so there's a lot of potential for her.
Well, largely uncolonized by the Japanese; the Ainu had been living there for thousands of years.
@@chaspenn1079 ah thx for telling me I still dk much about Japanese history

Yeah I’m disappointed about that
Could be a child or something?
Pretty much how I figured it going, GoT told a pretty comprehensive story, which ends with him permanently taking up the mantle and protecting the area. Not just going to abandon Tsushima.
Don’t think they could have topped the emotional resonance of that ending.
Plus you’d already built him into an unstoppable killing machine, always a bit lackluster to pick up a new game where they inexplicably lose all their progress.
Anthology is the best route.
I'm not. Trued of the same protag every game, when the game doesn't have anything to do with any one character. This is what the Last of Us should have done.
It cant be about Jin because tsushima was around the 13th century and this game is around 1606 making it the 17th century
Can we come to PC a little sooner than Ghost of Tsushima did? Okay thank you.,

When people complained because they do not understand Sucker Punch potential goal which is to showcase Japanese history that will be the heavy reference of the two Ghost franchise. This is not a series which will cater only one character, this is more a franchise where there are Ghosts (or there might be) in possibly every era and location in Japan in the historical times. This is much more awesome tbh. I don't mind playing as a girl tbh and I think this is diversity done right.
The female protagonist does not fit well with medieval Japan
@@TomCruiseArbuzbro, the game takes place in the 1600s
Skipping the 1500s is tragic, no warring states, no Nobunaga, not even Sekigara in 1600, so many cool settings missed out on. I guess this is the kind of stories the Ghost series is telling so it makes sense but why no decent games set in that period have been made are beyond me. Some day, I'm on copium.
The dream would be to have them keep making separate stories in different eras/time periods
No way Sucker Punch cooked again!?!?
PLEASE tell me that’s a wolf companion and that there’s a stance rhat utilizes the shoto blade
Tbh they don’t even need to change anything from the 1st one, just make another story and transfer the 1st gameplay to this and it’s already a 10/10 game

I think making this IP a series is the right direction for it, it allows them to try new things with different characters, stories, landscapes, etc. As long as nothing changes fundamentally with the way the game plays and the way the player experiences the world, it will be just as good as the first. Jin Sakai is now a real ghost…🥷👺🎍🥢🙏🏼
They music in the transition is literally Wild West music played with Japanese instruments. The Sengoku Jidai is just about over, but not quite. Civilization hasn't quite reached Ezo (Hokkaido) yet; it's the wild west of Japan at this point.
I used to play this when I was 63, and now I'm 17. This will forever be a classic.
Looks good from what i can see, just because it has a female MC doesn't automatically mean itll be bad. Need to wait and see more of the new character. Also need more actual gameplay, the combat, parkour, etc. Doesnt really matter to me in the end as i dont have a ps5 but Sucker Punch usually makes great games, imo. I say give it a chance before writing it off. This isnt Ubisoft.
AFAIK, she could be a former or aspiring Onna-Musha. They're female Japanese warriors that became more prevalent around the Sengoku Era. After all, the game takes place in the year 1604.

I'm pretty disappointed they didn't stick with the actual real life time line of when tsushima was invaded. 1274 and 1281. If they had followed that time frame, we could have gotten more story from Jin. To me, his story wasn't finished at all. The first game was amazing. I won't hold my breath for this one, though. Hearing the controversies about the main character actress too doesn't do anything for me. I hope it succeeds, but the first ghost will always be superior in my eyes.

Idrgaf about it being female. Im more so upset that Jin's story wasnt complete and he still had more to tell. So the random time skip and random MC better be a 1 off just to tie us over until they announce GOT 2.
Nah, whole new logo and title means this is indeed a full-fledged game in the series.
Agreed. I'm so let down.
Jin's narrative and emotional arc finished. There isn't more to say about his story, unless the devs REALLY wanted him specifically to go on another adventure.
It's important to let good stories end, and learn to enjoy new ones.
It’s 2024 can we please be normal about having a female protagonist.
Be normal about every games yes sure, all protagonists are now female, if you don't see the trend you must be living under the rock.
@@hisham031170 I think you live under a rock if you think that. Also even if every game coming out did have a female protagonist, so what? Almost every triple A game had a male protagonist for awhile outside the occasional woman and it didn’t matter. At all. You should be able to comfortably play a game that has the opposite gender even if some of the game covers some of the struggle that gender faces. It’s called empathy.

@@SilverEye91 There's an upset amongst the "pro-gamer" crowd that it features a female samurai. Like most issues this group likes to whine about, they’re completely in the wrong.
Although I am not an expert on Japanese history, I did live there for a few years, speak the language relatively well, and have a basic knowledge of the history. I can tell you that samurai refers to what was once a warrior social class, then transformed into a ruling and administrative class. In other words, the social segmentation here concerns labor and hierarchy, and does not concern gender. Women of the class acted in a supporting household role for the men, whatever their particular duties were. Most women of this class were trained in weapons, usually ones that involved keeping opponents at a distance, like bows and polearms (both are still popular martial arts with Japanese women today). Obviously, if your role is in the household, you may need to defend that household. Although the primary role of samurai women was not martial, there are historical examples of female warriors. They’re usually referred to as onna musha, though there are a few other terms (if I’m honest, I don’t know the nuances, but onna musha seems the most general term). I believe the history of Japan podcast did a great episode on the topic several years ago if you’re interested to find out more.
As usual, the pro-gamer crowd favors their cretinous musing rather than history and choose to broadcast their ignorance to the world.
The difference? You can tell the protagonist is a woman at first glance, without any voiceover or dialogue.
