You've actually got a first revision version of the T-40 - the first ones didn't have body contours or a stomach cut, so they were even heavier! As Peavey got better with their CNC machines, they were able to refine the bodies.
The tone controls were also pretty innovative - from 0-8 the pickups are full humbucking, but past that one coil cuts out. The bottom switch is an in phase/out of phase.
The guitar plant was in Meridian, Mississippi, where they made the amps. I got to tour that plant in '84 on work training, quite a place. I got to see a lot of stuff, including a prototype T-62 guitar that was a T-60 made out of walnut.
I'd love to get a T-40 for my collection.

the wood used for this guitar was actually northern ash. That's the same wood they make louisville sluggers from and is much denser than swamp ash that is a common tone wood.

I have had one since 1980 or so. Got it for $225! Doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Great tone and sustain IMO. Still plays great!

That was my first bass in 94 as a young teenager. Paid $300 at a pawnshop for the bass and a 40watt amp. I ended up selling both in 2008 for a bit more than I paid originally. I wish I had it back. That was a great bass!

My first bass guitar ever was PV Patriot. bass guitar1980 1981 had to be 80.. And a (T k o 65) Base amp I love.. PV Bases and their apps from the eighties I think the base was like I think the base was $319. And the base sample is right around the same price. Back in a good old days. Big old gigantic p a cabinets. Everything was crazy big in the eighties. I'll be right everybody's back is bad now l o l. Wow that brings back so many memories.

Sorry to tell you, that body is not one piece. If you notice, there are 2 larger pieces with a smaller 2-inch piece sandwiched in the middle. You can see the difference in the grain if you know wood which I do. Nice

Hope the tilt screw wasn't being used. Cranking on the neck screws like that with the neck tilt screw engaged makes the fret board crack

One thing about weigh: Hardware heft adds significantly. The bridge itself is a lethal. Ridiculous tone. Only flaw (on the maple necks) is a tendancy to split (seamed up the centerline).
