Sea Lion Pup Takes Swimming Lessons

Our first-ever sea lion pup, born on June 6, has been nursing, growing, vocalizing, and thriving! The 23-pound pup continues to bond with her mom behind the scenes and has started “swimming” in her kiddie pool. Sea lion pups don’t swim right away; for now, the pup is exploring water only about 1-2 inches deep. Our keepers developed a slate of four names for the adorable pup that members of the public are invited to vote on now through Sunday, July 7, at 11 pm.
